21. Chapter 21

Cruz

Cruz: Did you get it?

Oliver: Did I fucking get it? Of course I did. I watched it, too.

Little fucking perv, but I expected as much.

Oliver: I should show Nico.

Cruz: No, you should get rid of it, Oliver.

Oliver: I’ll think about it. But probably not. What’s the deal with this bitch? Does she have some kind of magic pussy or what?

Cruz: No.

Oliver: Oh come on, you can tell me…

That was all I was going to say on the subject.

When my knot finally released us, Rosa was still sound asleep.

We couldn’t afford to be caught like this.

So as much as I would’ve rather stayed buried in her warmth, I carefully moved her off of my chest, into her bed, and pulled the covers over her.

She didn’t wake, but a sleepy mumble that I couldn’t understand murmured between her kiss-swollen lips.

Quietly, I pulled my clothes on, turned off the lights, and slipped out the door. Before I was satisfied that she was safe, I checked the perimeter and the entrance and exits, and when all was secure, I went to my own bed in the room down the hall.

How was I going to make it through the next week knowing exactly what every inch of her body felt like under her clothes?

What in the fuck was I thinking? Maybe she did have a magic pussy. This jeopardized the whole mission, but at least I understood Nico a little better.

He’d done the same fucking thing.

Rosalina

What was I thinking? I knew I shouldn't get caught up in this guy.

This was so far beyond my plan to seduce him, I might as well have been on Mars.

Sure, seduce him, tease him, get him to sneak me out, but I shouldn't be sleeping with him.

And I certainly should not be letting him knot me.

Not only letting him but begging him to, and enjoying every second of it.

Something drew me to him, though. I didn't know if I could stop.

When I came out of my room the next day, disheveled and groggy, Cruz was standing in the hall, just like every morning.

I couldn't bring myself to look at him. It wasn't that I was mad at him.

I was mad at myself, but I also knew if I looked at him for too long, memories of his hot, tattooed-covered skin would have me wanting to do it all over again.

So much for self-control.

This was a nightmare. And what about Nico? I still hadn't heard back from him. It was probably better that way. He was hot and addictive, and that was a dangerous combination when I was marrying Lorenzo next week. Not to mention sleeping with my bodyguard.

When had my life gotten so messy?

Claudia would set me straight. Tapping out a text to her, I made my way to the kitchen, where Maria was busy making lunch. I’d slept until noon, but I figured I deserved it after last night.

Maria gave me a welcoming smile and set a plate on the island for me.

I wondered if Cruz had already eaten breakfast. I'd never seen him eat.

He was there when I woke up, and he was there when I went to bed.

A shiver slithered down my back, remembering falling asleep with him still inside me.

A satisfied warmth spread through me just thinking about it.

No, do not think about that.

My phone buzzed, and I pulled it out.

Claudia: Morning!!! Glad your phone didn’t get taken. I was a little worried about your last text. Those brothers have been keeping me entertained since the club, though. I think I'm in love… ??

Always so dramatic. I laughed under my breath, knowing she was like this with every infatuation she'd had since elementary school.

Her family was rich and powerful, and she could pack up with nearly anyone she wanted.

The thought made me a smidge jealous. I wondered what a pack with someone like Cruz and Nico would be like.

Heat flooded my cheeks again. Probably hot and sweaty, but damn, I wouldn't complain.

Maria put a sandwich on my plate, and I thanked her. As I ate, I considered how much I should tell Claudia. In the end, knowing that my privacy could be invaded at any time, I settled for the bare minimum.

Rosa: Yeah, about that. My dad was pissed but it's okay now. I'm…um…

I had to tell her the most important part, but I hated it. My appetite fled, and I put the sandwich down.

Rosa: I'm getting married next week… You have to come.

Claudia: OMG! When??? To who??? Did that shadowy guy in the club get you pregnant, and now you have no choice? This is like the perfect romance novel. Please tell me he's a secret billionaire!

Fucking Claudia.

Rosa: If only it were a romance novel. No, I'm getting married to Lorenzo Vasco.

Claudia: Holy fuck. No way. The one whose omega “fell” off the balcony??? No, you can't do that. Did someone put you up to this? You're joking, right?

Rosa: I wish I was. My father made an agreement with him. They planned everything already. I don't even get to pick my own dress, but I need you to be there. I don't think I can do it without you.

Claudia: This isn't the fucking Dark Ages. How could they do that to you? If you want me there, I'll be there, but this is crazy.

Rosa: I know. If there was a way out I'd take it, but my dad needs Lorenzo's help and this was the only way he'd agree. I'll text you the details. Have fun with the twins. ??

The turkey sandwich tasted like ashes in my mouth. Just thinking about my situation ruined everything. I took a few more bites, but it didn't improve, so I wrapped it up and tucked it into the fridge for later.
