48. Chapter 48

Rosalina

Oliver watched him leave in silence, his eyes following his movements out of the room and down the hall, deeper into the house.

I pushed myself up and made my way to the edge of the bed. “Where is he going?”

“To the basement.”

The other omega’s attention shifted to me, and he came over, offering a hand.

What was in the basement other than those stupid cement cells? … Oh … The cells with grates in the floor… for the blood. Bile stung the back of my throat as Oliver guided me over the mounds of meat and puddles of blood on the carpet.

He turned to me at the door. “There’s another spare room if you need space.

But the invitation to my nest is still open if you want company.

It will always be open to you, no matter what, anytime you need it.

” There was no hope in his eyes this time.

No playful banter or jokes. Just a hard look that I never wanted to see on his face again.

My hands shook with the echoes of the terror from what had happened.

There was no way I’d be able to sleep alone after that.

Maybe not ever again. I was hesitant, though.

I shouldn’t let myself get more attached to this pack, but I couldn’t be by myself right now, so I nodded and followed him down the hall.

The scent of copper and strange alphas coated me just as thickly as the sticky congealed blood that covered my skin. I wanted to peel it off me, to shred the flesh from my bones, so I could escape it.

Oliver grabbed my shaking hand. “It’ll be okay. I've got you.”

He led me through his nest, straight to the bathroom, and flipped the shower on. “Sorry about the blood. I didn’t think that all the way through. When I saw what they were doing, I just… reacted.”

Without dropping my hand, he stepped into the shower, shirt off but sweats still on. “I’m so fucking sorry.”

The apology felt like it was dragged from the bottom of his soul and was for so much more than dousing me with blood.

It felt like he was trying to atone for everything that had happened since the moment we met.

It was a deep, heart-shattering admission that they were in the wrong, and it pierced me straight to my core.

He maneuvered me under the warm spray. “We should have protected you from the start. Protected you from everything, including us.”

My lips parted, but I didn’t know what to say. The silent tears streaming down my cheeks said enough. They spoke of so much hurt and regret between us both. I stayed quiet, letting him wash away the past.

His warm fingers cut through the rust-red film that covered my body.

The metallic copper scent flowed down the drain as his steady hands soaped my skin until it was clean and rosy.

My trembling slowed to a stop as he washed the blood from my hair and ran conditioner through the limp strands.

By the time he was done, I was nearly moaning.

This was how it should be. This was what I always wanted.

He dropped to his knees. “Tell me what I can do to make it up to you.”

Even after everything, his apology felt like enough. Was that reality, or just my stupid omega brain? I didn’t know. But I did want one thing from him. “Take me to bed.”

He looked up at me, his lips parted in shock.

“I forgive you, Oliver. Just take me to bed.” I cradled his cheek with my hand, drawing him back to his feet.

Beads of water clung to his mouth, taunting me.

I leaned in and licked the droplets off as if to assure him of my words.

My fingers snuck under the hem of his drenched sweats and peeled them over his hips as I deepened the kiss.

“Take me to bed,” I said again as I pushed the length of my naked body against his.

He groaned into my kiss, his hands sliding down to my thighs and lifting me up.

I wrapped my legs around his waist. The evidence of my effect on him nudged urgently against my ass.

I wanted him just as badly. The water shut off, and air moved over my wet skin.

The light darkened behind my eyelids, and then he was laying me down on the soft sheets of his nest.

“Tell me you want me, Rosa,” he murmured between kisses.

My lips were on fire with need. I managed to hiss a single broken word as the hard nubs of his piercings raked against my clit. “Yes.”

I’d barely got the word out when his hand firmed on my hip, and he shoved his swollen shaft deep. One stroke, all the way to the base, my body stretching around every metal nub, ratcheting up the pleasure inch by inch. Fuck, he felt so good every time, in every way.

He devoured my gasp in a soul-rending kiss as his thrusts came slow and methodical.

My fingers bunched in his hair, holding his mouth to mine.

My whimpered moans mirrored his hungry groans as his precision built my pleasure to heights I never imagined.

I felt him moving inside me, but he pushed through the physical connection right into my heart.

He used his body to show me how sorry he was, laying his emotions bare with every perfect thrust and muttered moan.

He brushed a strand of damp hair from my face, pulling back to look at me. “You’re the most perfect thing I’ve ever seen.”

“Ollie…”

He licked the pad of his thumb and dropped it down between our bodies and pressed the slick digit against my clit. My body arched, and I wrapped my thighs around his waist, not wanting to risk losing our connection.

“Shhh, listen,” he breathed against my lips before dipping his tongue inside to dance against mine.

Over the slick sounds of him driving into me, and the heaviness of our breaths, I heard a shrill and desperate scream. And that was the music that accompanied Oliver bringing me to my peak over and over again until the oblivion of sleep finally claimed us.

That was how I knew anyone who touched us would die in the most horrible of ways.
