KONSTANTIN

She’s perfect.

Absolutely perfect.

My fingers are tangled in her hair as the leaves of the cypress tree shifts and murmur above us. Emily’s hand rests against my chest, and her naked body shifts slightly as she sleeps against me.

Overhead, the sky is starting to turn dark with clouds.

The first drops of rain come down erratically, and Emily murmurs a little as I brush them away. It’s only when thunder rumbles in the distance that her eyes flutter open.

“We need to head back,” I say.

She chances a glance behind her, and sees the dark cloud on the horizon and nods.

“I’ll come back for the blanket,” I tell her as I help her to her feet.

She wobbles slightly, and for a moment, I almost regret that she came so many times.

Almost.

We barely manage to get all our clothes on when a bolt of lightning splits the sky and fat drops start coming down in ever greater frequency. Midas is snorting and digging in the dirt with his front hoof when we reach him.

Unhitching him quickly, I help Emily up before I join her. Thunder roars overhead, and I seize the reins. Emily huddles under me, and I urge Midas forward just as the sky opens with sheets of rain.

The rain is coming down hard now, and it’s almost impossible to see through the downpour. But even though the cold drops soak me to my bones, all I feel is an impossible warmth ballooning through me

She said it … She actually said it.

She told me she loves me.

“Hang on!” I tell Emily as I urge Midas forward, faster and faster.

By the time we reach the stables, both of us are soaked.

Ivica greets us there with two umbrellas—a tiny one opened over hers and a large one still closed by her side.

“There you are!” she reprimands me as she hands me the large umbrella. “ Bozhe moi , you’re both soaked.”

“We’ll be fine, Ivica,” Emily tells her.

“You’re pregnant,” she tuts. “And you!” She turns to me. “I thought you knew better than this, Konstantin Yurevich.”

“I know, Ivica,” I tell her. “But there’s no use yelling at me about things that we’ve already done. Please, hurry back to the castle and draw a hot bath for Emily when we return.”

“Of course.” She nods and storms away just as another wave of thunder rumbles overhead.

Once I take the saddle off Midas, I turn and look at Emily. Ivica wasn’t wrong. She is soaked. The yellow sundress clings to her body, and leave nothing to the imagination.

“What?” she asks softly .

“I can’t stop looking at you,” I say. “You’re beautiful. You’re the most beautiful person I’ve ever seen, Kitty Cat.”

She smiles back at me and puts her hand on my chest. “So are you. Now let’s get out of these wet clothes.”

I open the umbrella and walk with her, hand in hand, back towards the castle. The wind picks up and I feel the chill penetrate me to the bones. Suddenly, I find myself having the same exact thoughts as Ivica. What if Emily catches a cold? What if she gets sick?

I tug her hand a little and she leans close into me. It’s not much, but the warmth of my body should help chase some of her cold away.

When we reach the castle, a worried Ivica greets us with fresh towels and quickly ushers us forward to our room. A bath has already been drawn, and the steam curls up from the surface, chasing away the cold that has started to settle.

Outside, the thunderstorm rages.

“Help me out of this dress?” Emily smiles sweetly at me as she wrings water from her hair.

Gingerly, I undo the clasp at the back of her neck, and slowly peel the thin wet material away from her. She turns around and starts unbuttoning my shirt. Her fingers are cold, and I can see the goosebumps dotting her skin.

“You’re freezing,” I say. “You should get in the bath before you catch a cold.”

She laughs softly. “When you fished me out of the lake, Ivica told me the same thing.” She rises on her tiptoes and plants a quick kiss on my lips. “I told her that being cold doesn’t cause you to get a cold.”

“Emily, I’m serious.”

“I know.” She finishes the final button and starts working on my belt. “But I want you to join me. ”

I feel my cock—exhausted as it is—slowly stir back to life.

“Please?” she says softly as she slowly rolls my pants down my hips.

“Okay.” I nod as I step out of my pants.

Then, taking her hand in mine, I walk her over to the large bathtub. We step in together, and she sighs contently as both of us are enveloped in the comforting heat. She leans back against my chest and wiggles her ass slightly against my hardening cock.

“Someone hasn’t gotten enough today,” she whispers.

“I can say the same about you.”

She turns to look over her shoulder, her dazzling sapphire eyes shimmering in the steam. Her hand rises up to caress my cheek and I kiss her palm.

“You finally said it to me,” I tell her.

“I did.”

I reach up until our fingers lock together. “How did it feel?”

“It felt right.” She feathers her lips against our interlocked fingers as she continues to look at me. “Like I knew it all along.”

Happiness blooms in my chest, and I pull her closer to me. Nibbling her ear, then her neck, and then her shoulder, I inhale her scent—that irresistible hint of honeysuckle and brown sugar. I relish in the way her body fits so perfectly into mine, and marvel at how utterly and completely I’ve fallen for her.

Her lips part, and I lean in for the kiss. It starts out softly at first, and then it deepens as our heartbeats slowly sync into one. A soft whimper escapes her nose, and her other hand reaches down in the hot water.

But instead of grasping my cock, she finds my other hand and brings it to her belly where our child is growing. I run my hand over the soft surface, marveling that life is growing there.

Life that we created.

When we break apart, I see tears of happiness in her eyes even as the smile widens on her face.

Something is changing between us. I feel more connected to her than ever, and it’s a feeling that I never want to let go. Reaching up, I hook my finger under her chin and pull her in for another kiss.

But before I do, I say. “I love you, Emily.”

And without hesitation this time, she replies. “I love you, too, Konstantin.”
