VENOM
Leaving Ivy after just revealing my ultimate truth to her is agonizing. Not knowing if the feeling is mutual is even worse.
Pure torture.
But that’s what this whole experience has been.
Torture.
I can be a patient man, but with her, my self-resistance has been tested beyond measure.
It’s been hell. That’s what my feelings for Ivy are. Absolute hell. With her blazing red hair, eyes that glow, a smile so seductive even the devil would be jealous, and a heart so fierce, she leaves me wanting nothing more than to burn in her eternal flames.
I crave her.
I need her.
I’m a man addicted to whatever poison she’s injected in me. I don’t care if it’s finally the lethal dose that kills me.
I’ve never truly experienced love. Love had always been something that felt not quite attainable, like a melody distantly heard, but too far out of reach to truly experience it in all its beauty. Love is a language I’ve never spoken. But this feeling seems like it could be that emotion.
If not love, then it sure is madness.
I grab another glass of whiskey before I make my way to my other office, this one being far less green and alive.
A notification pops up on my phone before I reach my desk, a particular name screaming at me through the screen. I have certain alerts set that will notify me any time special individuals are mentioned in articles or the news. Although this one seems to have notified me almost too late.
Staring at the name and the event being hosted, I smile wide. Placing a toothpick in my mouth, I kick up my feet on my desk and read further.
A masquerade charity ball is being held in Georgia on Halloween weekend by a wealthy tech entrepreneur and his philanthropist wife. They are raising funds for a new non-profit that will provide all the necessities for orphaned children.
How sweet.
This is certainly a welcome surprise, an opportunity I can’t pass up.
I think this is the perfect time to offer my charity.
The greenhouse is calling to me again. It’s time to work.
