Chapter 24

TWENTY-FOUR

SOREN

Cressida and her sister look alike, but Cressida has a different energy about her, or maybe it’s just the power she unwillingly holds over men, me in particular, that always leaves me confused.

The cold air hits us as we exit the bar, and I escort Izzy to my car and hold open the door for her.

“You like my sister.” It’s a statement, not a question, and she waits at the open car door for me to reply.

“She’s interesting,” I answer.

“Oh, yes, Cres is a ball of fun.” She laughs. “She’s also the workhorse of the family.”

From my research on her, I already know about Cressida’s strong work ethic. She’s been working since she was young and took only the minimum amount of maternity leave before returning to full-time work.

“If you hurt her in any way, I will come for you.” She winks at me and then slides into the car.

“That’s not my intention,” I inform her.

“So, what? Are you two just having a bit of fun?” She places her bag on her lap as she stares up at me expectantly.

“Yes, I guess that’s it. She isn’t after anything more.”

“And what about you?”

“Unsure,” I answer truthfully, though something in me shifts when I say it. I don’t think I’ll ever want more than a temporary situation with a woman.

“Interesting.” She smiles and reaches for the door handle. “Nice meeting you, Soren. I’m looking forward to our next visit.”

I don’t bother correcting her, and she shuts the door.

I walk back into the bar to find Cressida talking to the bartender. He immediately stops when I take the vacant seat next to her.

“How did you find me?” she questions.

“I tracked you,” I tell her, and she gives me an eye roll as she picks up her drink. I put my hand on hers to stop her. “You should stop drinking now.”

“Oh, yeah, and why is that?”

“Because I can’t have you drunk when I bring you back to my place to fuck you.”

Someone near us coughs, but she doesn’t take those soft baby-blue eyes off mine.

The truth is, I was listening to her, and I heard the bartender welcome her when she first came in.

That’s how I got the name of the bar and found her.

So, technically, I didn’t lie to her. She just chose not to believe me.

I take the glass from her and then tug her hand until she slides off the stool and is standing between my legs.

I lift my hand and place it against her cheek.

She has the most perfect jawline and the most kissable lips.

Lips that are slicked with a wicked red lipstick that I want to remove with my tongue.

“I’m not going home with you,” she tells me. “We’ve done this song and dance, and I think it’s time to end it.”

“But I’m just getting started.” I caress my hand along her jaw, and without even realizing she’s doing it, she leans into my touch.

“No, you aren’t,” she argues, but I can hear her wavering.

Moving in closer, I touch my lips to hers. “If you come home with me, I’ll give you your toy back.”

Her eyes, which were falling closed, spring open. “You shouldn’t have taken it in the first place,” she snaps.

“I wanted a way to guarantee that you would use me again.” And, fuck, do I want her to use me again.

“How do you know I was using you?”

My hand slides into her hair, and I lean back, bringing her with me. “Because it’s the same way I’m using you. No strings, right?”

“Fucking my boss. How comical,” she scoffs, but her eyes are on my lips. “Fine. I guess you can take me back to your place.” She rests her hand on my chest as she whispers into my ear, “Maybe you’ll spank me so hard this time that I’ll have trouble sitting.”

I knew she loved it.

“Maybe I’ll get you to crawl to me.”

“It depends…” She pauses, eyeing me. “What am I crawling for?”

“My cock.”

“As long as you crawl for me in return.”

“I don’t crawl for anyone or anything,” I state.

“If you want me, you will crawl.”

I want her.

Badly.

But crawling for a woman doesn’t sound like me.

However…

“Let’s go,” I blurt.

“Your driver left.”

“I already have another waiting,” I tell her as I get to my feet and pull her toward the exit. She follows not just because I have a hold of her, but because she knows what is about to come.

Us.

We’ll both be coming tonight.
