Chapter 48
BOSTON
All I can think about is her. No one else. Weeks go by, and I can honestly say I’m the fucking happiest I’ve ever been in my life.
And it’s all due to her.
The sex is phenomenal. Her company always leaves me guessing.
And the way she curls her body around mine when she sleeps is something I could never turn away from.
The Forsaken members have been asking what I plan to do with her.
She isn’t supposed to know what happens at the hunts, yet she helped facilitate the last one, even though she didn’t have to.
“Same as Reon’s wife, Lilith,” Soren says. “We will leave it.”
Everyone looks around, but the Lord’s words are final.
Everyone leaves, and it’s just Soren and me when Reon joins us. He pulls out a chair and sits across from us.
“My wife wants to be friends with your wife,” he says to me.
“She does?” I ask, surprised.
“Yes.”
“You told her what Maven did,” Soren says with a sigh.
“I don’t hide anything from my wife,” he announces, as if we didn’t already know.
Soren rubs his forehead. “Some things you should keep to yourself,” Soren says.
“So you hide things from yours?” Reon questions him.
“She doesn’t ask and doesn’t want to know,” Soren replies, which I only partially believe. She was a reporter, which means she’s curious by nature. “Stop telling your wife shit,” he grumbles.
“No,” Reon says, and I can’t help but smirk.
I would usually be on Soren’s side. But I get it now.
I get why he refuses to keep things from the one person he would give his life for without hesitation.
I hate the thought of hiding things from Maven too.
So if she asks, I won’t hold anything back. “We need to set up a dinner,” he adds.
“Maven hates to cook.”
“Who’s cooking?” Victor asks as he approaches. He hasn’t gone back to Vegas yet, but I know he plans to. He’s the kind of member Soren has always wanted. He listens, obeys, and isn’t afraid to get his hands dirty. At least for now, that is.
“Victor is a great cook,” I tell the other two.
“I am,” he agrees, and takes a seat. He’s slowly warmed up to the others, though I can tell he doesn’t trust them all.
This group here, he respects, though. He and Reon have gotten closer.
And Soren is the Lord, so he respects him.
I know he stays away from Arlo because Arlo reads everyone, and most people fucking hate it, including Victor.
But Arlo isn’t someone to be fucked with, and Victor understands that.
“A party, then?” Soren suggests.
My phone starts ringing, and when I look at it, Maven’s face comes on the screen.
“I have to go,” I tell them as I stand.
Walking out, I answer it.
“Boston,” she says.
“Yes, Dynamite.” I stop into the café next door before I head to the car.
“I need a strawberry milkshake, can you—”
“Already ordering you one,” I answer, cutting her off.
“See, this is why I love you,” she purrs.
“The only reason?”
“Well, that and the way your cock slides in so perfectly, or the way your tongue—”
“Maven!” I hear Carrie scream.
“What? It’s the best sex I’ve ever had. You just wait until you add a milkshake to play with.”
“You and your fucking milkshakes,” I hear her sister mutter.
“Anyway, can you get two? Then this time, you can eat one off me.”
“Fucking hell, Maven,” Carrie says on a groan, and Maven giggles.
And that sound makes me so fucking happy.
Fuck, I love my venomous woman.
