Epilogue

Vex

Three weeks. It’s been three weeks since we rid the world of Travis Hitchens and I slept like a goddamned baby that night because of it.

The tension that had been running through The Keep has disappeared, leaving in its place a feeling of hope.

Taking a deep breath I let it out slowly, savouring how much easier it feels to breathe now.

Hitchens is gone and thanks to my brother and Wire forcing Hitchens to sign on the dotted line to waive his parental rights, Loyal and I have been able to adopt the girls officially.

I know that Wire and Chewy organized the paperwork to say we have always been the girls’ parents, but Loyal didn’t want that.

The girls loved their mom, and have memories of her.

Loyal is adamant that she’s not replacing her, she’s just loving the girls for a very, very long time until the girls can see their mom again.

We aren’t replacing anyone, just loving them.

“Whatcha doin?” Loyal asks, coming up behind me, wrapping her arms around my waist.

“Just thinking about how perfect our life is.”

She pokes her head around my arm. My head tips back and I laugh as she raises a brow.

Right at this very moment the two dogs are going crazy as Justice and Damian try to run them through the agility course they’ve made.

The kids are running around like headless chickens, River is trying to time the dogs and the brothers are taking bets on who will win.

Damian is slightly butthurt that no one seems to want to bet on Barbara.

I get it, between her and Joe’s well trained, fluffy dog Mosely, we all know who is going to win.

Which becomes incredibly clear when Joe’s little dog speeds through an old tire balanced on its side and Barbara gets halfway through before her large rump gets stuck.

“It’s alright mon cherie, wiggle!” Damian demands, feet spread apart, wriggling his butt. As if that is going to help Barbara in any way.

Loyal giggles behind me, watching the chaos.

“I cannot believe that man is a lawyer,” Loyal says once her giggles subside.

Wire and Chewy thought they ran a pretty comprehensive background check on Damian. And they did on Damian Devereaux. But Damian LeCompt, his actual birth name, is a man of many talents.

“Between him and TumTum having random skills no one knew about, I think we have pretty much everything covered as an MC,” I snort.

I reach behind my back, moving Loyal to my front, holding her close and breathing in her warm, copper hair.

“Any word on Goodson?” she murmurs into my chest.

“None as of yet, but the twins are looking into it.”

She nods and squeezes me a little harder.

“Church!” Prez calls, adding a whistle at the end to bring the dogs to heel.

“How the hell did he manage that?” Damian mumbles, rescuing Barbara from where she’s given up getting out of the tire, instead just dropping to the ground and hiding her face.

“Should only be a short one, babe.”

“Just go. I got this. Me, Joe, Nell, River, Izzy and the little girls are going to make some food and watch a movie.”

“A movie even?” I tease. It’s taken me a long time to get her relaxed enough to just sit and watch something. I guess we were never allowed to watch movies as kids so it’s not really something we learned to do, but my woman is trying for the sake of the little girls.

“Just get outta here!” She slaps my butt and my cock starts to thicken in my jeans. She’s getting handsy and I love it.

Dropping a kiss to her lush lips and I tap her on the ass before following my brothers in.

“Looks good on you, brother.”

I smirk at Saint before wrapping my arm around his neck, dragging him into church and shoving him into his seat. “It’ll be your turn before you know it,” I grin at him as he makes a cross with his fingers at me.

“Right, settle down. We have shit to discuss.” We all quiet down as Prez mean mugs us all.

“As you well know the Originals are running point on Matthew Thompson. He’s still fucking around, moving weapons, black market military shit and people.

He’s pissed that the sale of the twins fell through so he’s scrambling and causing issues for the Originals.

They’ll be running ops on him sooner rather than later and have asked that we be ready to mobilize if need be.

” He looks around the table. “Vex, I know Loyal is only in the middle of her studies, but there could be people coming through here who need health care along with safety.”

“On it, I’ll let her know to be ready. Joe will be there to help too,” I reply.

“Good. I’ll have the prospects ready the cabins. Landrys, you might want to prep the gators too,” Prez says with a smirk.

“They’re always ready. We’ve had Dima and his woman in contact wanting the use of Gretchen,” Omen grins.

“Really? Dima doesn’t really strike me as a murdery type of guy,” Flack muses.

“No, but I think Dima has a murdery type of woman.” I grin. I love that for Dima. Our old friend finally found the woman he’s been searching for.

Dex taps twice on the table, settling us down.

“As you know Jay and Theo have been with us the past few weeks looking into shit and training Justice. I’ve spoken to Justice and as enthusiastic as he is to help out, I just don’t think IT is his thing.

” We all nod, knowing that for all of us here, it ain’t our thing either.

“”Anyway, as you well know Theo and Jay are contractors, the money helps pay for their grandmother’s medical bills.

” Prez looks around the table. “They’re currently contracted to Chewy with her being pregnant and wanting to cut down her work with the Computas.

I don’t know about all y’all but it feels fucking unfair to have Chewy pay for Jay and Theo when they’re currently working for us. ”

“What do you suggest?” I ask. I know what I would suggest we do.

I’ve gotten to know the twins over the past few weeks, working closely with my brothers, Justice, and Loyal to give them as much information as we can to help them find Goodson or any other Eden’s Keepers who may be working with him.

Morally they’re good guys, unfortunately their early work as contractors had them working for mean fuckers like Matthew Thompson which had them crossing paths with the DRMC.

They sure as hell learned their lesson after Chewy trussed them up in sex swings and pierced their dicks.

I’m amazed they still wanted to work for her after all that.

“With the dive bar, the bait shop, and the BBQ Shack already up and running and the garage opening next week, we finally got money coming in. Good money,” Sniper says.

“Exactly. We’re a small MC and making good money. So, we need to vote on whether we want to take over Chewy’s contract,” Prez says, looking around the room.

Ayes go up from everyone, as I knew they would.

The twins are good men, if not a little creepy at times.

Dex waves at TumTum who moves to open the door, the twins following behind before taking a seat.

They’re still in their business casual outfits which tickles me and causes the brothers to tease them, not that they give a shit.

“Jay, Theo. Thank you for joining us.”

“No problem,” Jay says.

“The update on Goodson-” Theos starts.

“Before you get into that we wanted to have a word about your contract with Chewy. We’d like to take it over, if you’re willing to stay in Adonner.” Dex stares at them from the other end of the table.

Jay and Theo stare at each other a moment before nodding then turning back in unison. See what I mean? Creepy.

“We wanted to talk to you about that. We understand that MC positions come with remuneration. We like the work we’ve been doing, we like the DRMC and we like that we are in a position to help people while Doxxing others who deserve it,” Theo says.

“With that being said, we would like to apply for positions within your MC. We are well aware we would have to go through a prospecting stage first,” Jay finishes.

Well, shit. Looks go around the room and I know that each and every one of us would be happy to have these two join.

Dex’s eyes narrow for a moment, taking in both men. “OK brothers, all those in favor of Jay and Theo prospecting?”

There is silence for a beat before I grunt “Aye.” My brothers join me until it’s unanimous that the twins will be joining the Keep Chapter.

“Congratulations, you are now DRMC Keep Chapter Prospects.” Both men’s lips lift at the corners and they sit a little straighter in their seats. “Meet with Sniper and me later. I know you have a sick grandmother. You’re one of us now, and so is she. We’ll make sure she’s taken care of.”

Jay blinks rapidly before choking out a “thank you, Prez.”

Prez waves his hand as if it’s no big deal. And that’s what I like about Dex. To him, it isn’t. We’re a family, albeit a slightly mental one, but we take care of our own. “Tell us what you’ve got on Goodson.”

Loyal

“So, there’s no news on Goodson then?” I ask, holding hands with my man as we watch the girls on the jungle gym just outside the clubhouse.

Church has been over for a while and after everyone congratulated the twins for joining the MC we all opted to chill out a little until it’s time to help TumTum with dinner.
