CHAPTER 16 #4

My mate, my resonance, my chosen husband, comes with a choked uttering of my name.

His release floods inside me, his body shuddering over mine, and the orgasm I was chasing quickly ebbs away.

I'm throbbing with pleasure, but my release is elusive.

It's all right, though. Instead of being annoyed, I find it kind of sweet that he got so excited he couldn't wait.

There will be more orgasms tonight for certain, because I know we're not done with each other.

Not even close. I'll coach him through the next one.

Burying my face in his neck, I smile to myself.

He lifts his head, gazing down at me with an expression hazy from pleasure. "Did you..."

"Come again? Not quite."

Valmir hangs his head. "Well, that's keffing mortifying."

"Why?" I run my hand over his muscular biceps and feel him twitch deep inside me. "We're not done for the night, are we?"

He shakes his head.

"Then we've got time. Catch your breath. I'm not going anywhere."

Valmir collapses over me again, tucking his larger body over mine and burying me under him in the furs.

It's stifling...but it's also kind of nice?

His weight over mine, his body pinning mine down, plucks a primal chord of excitement.

He lifts one hand and roams over my flushed skin, caressing my cheek with one knuckle, then down my shoulder.

He runs it over the tip of my breast, making me shiver, and then down between my cleavage. "Still resonating."

"Yeah, unless there's something weird in our biology, pregnancy isn't an instant thing."

"You mean we're going to have to do this until we get it right? The horror."

I chuckle and flex my hips under him. "You were going to have to do it again anyhow, because I want to come again."

"I can manage that. I just need my eyes to focus. And my brain." He gives me a dazed smile that shows a hint of fang. "I'm still seeing stars."

Smiling, I run my hands over his downy fur. He's got a bit more on his shoulders than his chest, which I find fascinating. I'm looking forward to learning all about his body.

He rubs a knuckle over my heart, where my khui is singing. "How do we feel about a baby?"

"Scared," I admit. "It wasn't on my to-do list. But I imagine no one ever feels ready to bring another person into this world. We'll just figure it out."

"Something tells me there are no rules or guidelines for creating small humans."

"Not a single one."

"Figures."

"Humans do have a saying — that it takes a village."

"Takes a village to what?"

I poke him in the side. "Raise a baby, pussycat."

"Excellent. We'll hand the child off to the first bored person we see."

I snort with amusement. "Not hardly."

"No, not hardly." His hand moves to my breast and he begins to idly tease my nipple again. "I suspect I'm going to be as possessive of them as I am of you. That it's going to make me jealous if I see Chalath so much as breathe in their direction. And Jason—"

I poke him in the side again and his tail thrashes. Is he ticklish? How cute is that? "Why do you rag on Jason so much?"

"Because he's an easy target." He flicks my nipple, making me gasp. "And because you say his name all warm and it makes me want to throttle him."

"Do I?"

He flicks my nipple again, eliciting another gasp from me. "Yes. So stop that."

"Mmm, Ja—"

"Hush, female." He pops his thumb back into my mouth, silencing me. "You're going to kill my erection."

I run my tongue over his thumb and give him a lascivious smile.

Valmir gazes down at me for a long, tender moment. "I'm going to try harder to get along with the others. For you. Because you want that village, and I want to be at your side."

My heart swells with happiness and I nip at his thumb before pushing it out of my mouth. "Ohana — community — is everything where I come from. It's having people to depend on, and everyone is like one big family."

"I've never had a family. Or a community." His eyes are troubled.

"I'll walk you through it. I promise." He's quiet, and I know he's got his doubts. Lucky for him, he's going to always have me at his side. "Now, about that second orgasm I'm owed..."

My heart flips when he gives me another feral grin.

Some time later, we lie in bed, side by side, and stare up at the ceiling. The fire is flickering, and Valmir gets up to stoke it, then lies next to me again. I don't move. My brain feels melted, my khui still humming frantically. I'm exhausted and sweaty, but I also feel strangely good. Content.

Of course I feel good — I've just had a dozen orgasms in a row.

Anybody would forget about their problems for a while after that.

To my surprise, Valmir reaches for my hand and twines his fingers with mine.

He doesn't say anything or try to initiate sex.

It's like he needs to be touching me to be content, and it makes my heart flutter with quiet delight.

"So," he says casually, rubbing one of my knuckles with his finger. "When we return, do you want a Ding-Ding Feast of your own?"

I grin, picturing it. "You would hate that."

"I would, but I would do it for you."
