Vile & Virtue: The End
Prologue
The world that stretched out in front of Sasha Lancaster through the swirling portal was a paradise of a child’s imagination. The sun was shining. It was warm. Birds of every color imaginable chirped and sang fanciful songs to each other.
The walkway that wound in front of her was such a cheerful shade of pastel yellow and robin’s egg blue that she had to squint at it.
It was the most horrifying thing Sasha had ever seen in her life.
Not because of how fucking cute everything was.
But because of what it represented.
Another story.
It was time for another story.
And not just any story…
It was that one.
“Oh, no…”
Hands settled on either side of her shoulders. A dark chuckle from behind her, and didn’t need to turn to know who it was.
Vile.
“Oh, yes…”
Wonderland.
And with no more warning than that, Vile pushed her through the portal.
Or rather, into it. Or perhaps it was through it. Sasha pondered the nature of what was in or through in her case at the precise moment her face met what she had believed had been empty air and proved to be anything but.
Glass shattered.
Yellow and blue turned into red and black.
Sasha fell.
Screamed.
And from somewhere, Vile laughed.
“Careful dear, don’t lose your head!”
