July Again #3

I growl her name as I bury my face in her neck, nipping at her and slamming into her, feeling her tits bounce against my chest. Gathering both wrists in one hand, I push the other between our writhing bodies and between her legs.

Her clit is swollen and begging for attention and my fingers move over it in small, tight circles that make her fight her hold on me.

I release her, just to feel her hands on me, to feel her nails claw at my back.

I grab her hip as I move with her, faster now. Rougher than I probably should be. There’s another twinge in my side that reminds me I’m supposed to be on bedrest, but I don’t care.

It doesn’t matter.

Nothing matters but this woman. And our life together. Our love.

Something someone tried to steal away from us with a bullet. Something I refuse to let go of.

She is mine. And no one will take her from me.

“Fuck, Jes,” I breathe, feeling my balls tighten. I move my fingers faster, angle my hips for the perfect spot and fuck her furiously.

“Come on, baby,” I murmur. “Come for me.”

Her urgent groans are like music to my ears, each one fuelling me as I focus all my energy on giving her that sweetest release. She tightens around me, her pussy clamping down on my cock. I grit my teeth to stave off my own orgasm, and then I hear it.

The deeply satisfied moan of a woman, my woman, coming undone.

I join her in that perfect moment of ecstasy, holding myself inside her as I release, relishing every sting of her nails as she rides through the high.

For a few seconds, the rest of the world ceases to exist. It’s just the two of us. The sound of our breathing. The warmth of her wrapped around me.

I stay there, holding her, my face buried in her neck as I try to catch my breath.

“Hey,” I murmur, brushing my lips below her ear.

Carefully, I shift, easing some of my weight off her, even though I want to stay exactly where I am.

“Hey yourself,” she whispers back.

“You ready to buy a house?”

ISLA

Isla: There’s a big SOLD sign on your house, Jes.

Isla: It’s starting to feel very official!

Jesy: Oh! Send me a picture when you can! I know it’s silly but I want to see it!

Isla: I’ll remember next time I pass.

Isla: You guys move quick.

Jesy: Well, George and Matthew move quick. They accepted our first offer, even though Mum says we lowballed them. I think they just wanted it to go to someone who’d love it.

Isla: Well with it being your grandparents’ house, I’m sure you’re going to love it.

Isla: I can’t believe you’re buying a house with Brian!

Jesy: It does seem crazy, yeah. But I’m so happy, Isla.

Isla: Good! I’m so glad.

Isla: You’re coming home soon?

Jesy: Unfortunately. I fly out the day after tomorrow. My heart is slowly breaking.

Isla: Aw, hen. But hey, he’ll be home for good soon, right? In your own house. Just the two of you.

Jesy: Yeah.

Jesy: Yeah, that part is nice.

Jesy: Have you heard from Penny?

Isla: Here and there. I think she’s in hiding. I’m not sure she knows how to talk to me, given that I’m close to Hazel too.

Jesy: Fuck.

Jesy: I’ll try to see her when I get back.

Isla: And how’s the book coming along? Have you got much work done while you’ve been over there?

Jesy: Actually, yes.

Jesy: I got a lot of work done.

Jesy: And, I may, or may not, have a little bit of news about this book.

Subject: Congratulations!

Hi Jesy!

This is Stephen from Reeves Publishing.

You may or may not remember me, but I believe you know my wife, Shauna Reeves. I believe she took care of your boyfriend after he was shot.

First of all, I hope he is doing well and the two of you are managing to move past the horror of such a crime. Take time to heal, mentally as well as physically.

Secondly, as promised, I read the manuscript for Meadowcraig Stories, and I have to admit, I wasn’t expecting to get quite so pulled in.

I told myself I’d read a chapter or two before bed and ended up finishing it in one sitting.

My wife was not impressed when I kept the lamp on past midnight, so you can take that as your first official review.

There’s something very honest about the way you’ve written it. It doesn’t feel like a history lesson, even though I learned a lot! Your little town sounds very quaint and beautiful, and your writing helped transport me right there alongside your characters.

Now, I want to be upfront with you. Reeves Publishing is small. Very small. It’s mostly just me, a couple of freelancers, and a lot of trial and error. We don’t have big budgets, we don’t have a marketing machine behind us, and I can’t promise you overnight success.

What I can offer is time, attention, and a genuine belief in what you’ve written. I’d love the opportunity to work with you, to help shape this into something we can put out into the world together. It would be a collaborative process, and I’d want you involved every step of the way.

I completely understand if you’d prefer to pursue something larger or more established. In your position, that would make perfect sense. But if you’re open to taking a chance on a small press that really cares about its books, then I’d love to talk further.

No pressure at all, Jesy. Either way, you’ve written something special, and you should be incredibly proud of it.

If you’d like to chat, just drop me a reply and we can set something up.

All the best,

Stephen

Brian: Hello, my beautiful soon to be published author. How are you doing today?

Jesy: I’m good.

Jesy: Word has got around, apparently.

Brian: Oh, yeah? People offering their congratulations?

Jesy: Yeah. And everyone in the village has rallied around to go and preorder a copy. Stephen says they’re a bit blown away by the response.

Jesy: But it’s smoke and mirrors.

Brian: How do you mean?

Jesy: Well, of course everyone in the village has stepped up. That’s what we do as a community. But beyond Meadowcraig, I don’t think there’s much of an interest.

Brian: Not true.

Brian: I’ve been watching the posts online. You’re gaining some traction. I told my mum about it, and she’s ordered copies for her book club. Darrell said he’s been telling people, and Justin…

Brian: Well, Justin tries.

Jesy: Ha.

Jesy: Honestly, I don’t care really. I wasn’t expecting a miracle. It’s just nice that people believe in me.

Brian: And we all do.

Brian: Feels like things are finally lining up for you, hm?

Brian: Here’s to the rest of your life.
