Chapter 11

A my headed for the shower, as soon as she arrived at the castle, as did Wallace, Terk, and Riff.

That smell had to go. When Amy finally walked into her bedroom that night, she sat down on the bed, wondering at the quick change in her circumstances.

She did feel safe here. She did feel a part of something bigger than herself, and yet it was something that she didn’t quite understand.

Such a team feeling encased this whole castle that she found herself a little hesitant, wondering if maybe she didn’t quite have what it took.

She also knew that everybody else would slam her for even thinking that, and she didn’t want to get caught up in that negative thinking, but it was hard not to when so much was going on all the time.

A lot of special people were here, and it would take her a while to even sort through their names because just so many lived here at the castle.

There was also something weird going on with Riff, whom she’d only seen a couple times now, and this woman named Angela.

She hung around Riff like a bad penny, and yet she seemed to be all heart and was here for the children constantly.

Yet it seemed as if she was keeping a watchful eye on everything.

Nobody had really explained what was going on there, but Amy hoped that if she was here long enough, people would relax, and Amy would get a full, or at least partial, explanation, in time. As she contemplated all this, the door opened, and Wallace walked in. She smiled up at him. “Hey.”

“How you doing?” he murmured, coming to sit beside her.

“I’m okay. It’s been a crazy day though.”

“Yeah, it has been,” he agreed, with a laugh. “And that’s okay. Crazy isn’t so bad all the time.” He reached out to hold her hand.

“Maybe not,” she murmured, looking down at their joined hands, “but it’s strange being here.”

He nodded. “We can always go away for a few days if you want, or we can just stay here and acclimate.”

“You know the acclimating part isn’t a bad idea,” she murmured. “We haven’t had time to do that.”

“No, we sure haven’t,” he agreed, with a laugh. “We haven’t had time to do anything but say hello.”

“What about Jonas?”

“As it turns out, I just came in to give you an update. He’ll be fine. His broken leg has been set, and he’s off duty for a while. He’s already making noise about coming over here to get some healing done,” he added, with an eye roll.

She stared at him and started to laugh. “That sounds like something I would do.”

“Exactly.” Wallace chuckled. “And why wouldn’t you, knowing skilled healers are here?”

“Do you think Terk will have a problem with Jonas doing that?”

“No, not at all. Despite all the bantering and complaining back and forth, deep down I think he and Jonas are good friends. Another good thing is it looks like Gerry Wallace will pull through too. So good news all around.”

She nodded. “That is great news. And I got that feeling myself about Terk and Jonas,” she muttered. “I think Terk knows an awful lot of people.”

“He does know an awful lot of people, but it’s you I want to talk about tonight,” he stated, with a smile, using his free hand to pat hers that he still held on to.

“And here I thought you were talking about Jonas,” she said, with a teasing grin.

He chuckled. “I think we have a few things to discuss straightaway.”

“What could that possibly be?” she quipped, narrowing her gaze at him. “Unless you’ll piss me off immediately by telling me that we don’t have anything between us or that you’re unsure.”

He stared at her, his jaw opening, but then it slowly closed.

She nodded. “Good, I didn’t think you would be that foolish.”

He stared at her for a moment. “What if I want reassurance?”

She blinked, but then she grinned. “You can have all the reassurance you need.”

“Without snapping your fingers?” he asked.

She burst out laughing, only to become somber. “Are you scared of me?”

“Nope, definitely not,” he replied comfortably, scooching closer to her. “I also have a few tricks up my own sleeve.”

“Exactly. I figured you had all kinds of skills,” she noted, with a laugh.

“But it’s not skills that I was talking about,” he clarified. “I was hoping for some, you know, other reassurance.”

And he gave her such a pitiful look that she burst into a fit of giggles, then straightened up, and, in a move that surprised both of them, shifted her position so she straddled him, sitting on his lap, her arms looped around his neck, and she smiled.

“Reassurance, huh ?” she repeated. “Are you telling me that you didn’t see our energy entwine the whole time we were together? ”

He nodded. “I did see it.”

“Are you telling me that you didn’t see our energy seeking each other out when we were apart?”

He nodded. “I did see that.”

“Are you telling me that right now you can’t see the energy between the two of us, blending and melding into something much better?” She leaned forward and nuzzled his nose with hers.

He grinned and said, “I do see that.”

“Ooh, I do too,” she agreed, then burst out laughing.

She leaned over and kissed him. “Just in case you have any doubts, and you really do need that reassurance, we already have a relationship, and we can make it into whatever we want it to be. We have the power to make it something extra special because of who we are, what we can do, what we can see, what we feel, what we already know.”

“ Huh .”

“It’s not as if we’ll ever argue and give each other the cold shoulder—or not for long, not while living in this fish bowl of a castle full of psychics,” she noted, chuckling.

“It’s not as if we’ll drag out the tired old excuse of not knowing there’s a problem, when we obviously will both know very well what’s happening, good or bad.

And living in this place? A ton of healing energy will be sent our way. ”

He wrapped his arms around her and pulled her tight up against his chest, dropping little kisses across her cheeks.

She smiled, feeling the warmth of his breath across her face, and snuggled in closer.

“That’s true,” he said, “and positive energy at that. We’re on an amazing journey, and I can’t imagine all that we have ahead of us.”

She tilted her head and looked up at him. “We’ll have everything we could ever want,” she whispered.

He leaned over, kissed her deeply, his tongue warring gently with hers, and whispered, “So, about these adjoining rooms…”

“I’m surprised we’re allowed to keep them,” she muttered, looking around.

“I think they’re planning to move us out of this suite into a big apartment—with one bedroom. In fact, they’re getting one set up for us right now, providing we’re okay with it.”

She chuckled. “In that case”—she got up, pulling him to her bed—“we should christen this one. Then we’ll move and christen that one as well.”

He burst out laughing. “I really like the way you think.”

Pushing him back onto the bed, she climbed on top of him, then sent him a gentle bolt of energy that moved down his back all the way to his toes. Moaning, he relaxed into the mattress. “Was that you?”

“It absolutely was,” she whispered, as she leaned over and kissed him, licked the tip of his nose, and laughed, before stroking her hands up underneath his T-shirt. “You really are wearing too many clothes.”

“Oh, I can take care of that in no time,” he stated, as he shifted upright, even with her in his arms. He then sat her on the bed and quickly shucked off his clothing, but she was way faster.

By the time he turned around, stark naked, she sat cross-legged on the bed, already fully nude.

He shook his head. “Will you always be one step ahead of me?”

She blinked up at him and grinned. “Only if you want me to,” she said. “If you prefer me beside you, that would be okay as well. I just don’t do the following thing.”

He wrapped his arms around her. “You can lead anytime.” He flipped himself down, spread-eagled on the bed, and added, “Especially right now.”

She burst out laughing, once again straddling his hips, and noted, “Our laughter is something I really love about us. We share so much joy.”

“That’s a good thing, and that’s something we can build on too.”

“Love it,” she murmured, as her hands explored the massive chest in front of her and the abs that tightened under her fingers. She giggled as he shifted away from her, her glance lightning quick as she asked, “Are you ticklish?”

“Yeah, I might be a little.” He gasped as she slid a hand down the inside of his thigh to his knee, where he twitched again.

She chuckled.

Wallace warned her, “Remember now that two can play that game.”

She wrinkled up her nose. “ Ugh . I am terribly ticklish.”

“ Ha , so you know what that means.”

“Yep, I sure do,” she declared. “It means, no tickling .”

And, with a sigh, she stroked and explored every inch of his big legs, taut muscles, smooth skin covered in dark hair, even his feet. By the time she made her way back up to his hips, he shifted on the bed, easing her toward the place that he most wanted her to explore.

She looked down at the erection standing proud in front of her and smiled. “And then there’s this.”

As she wrapped her hand around it and gently stroked it up and down, he sucked in his breath, his hips reaching up, plunging deeper into her grasp. “Yeah, there is that,” he noted, moaning and grunting. “It needs a little attention.”

“Does it?” she murmured, as she looked at it, now chuckling.

“Looks pretty happy to me.” She stroked it several more times, letting her fingers slide over the tip, and then she glanced up at him, leaned over, and kissed the top.

Almost instantly she was flipped onto her back, and, with a shriek of laughter, she found him suddenly on top of her.

“You know, the teasing is one thing, and maybe tomorrow, maybe next week, maybe a year from now, I’ll be totally fine with it,” he shared, smiling, as he settled himself between her thighs. “But right now, hell no. I’ve been wanting to do this for way too long.”

“Oh, I doubt it. I think this is just a new thing for you,” she teased, shifting beneath him.

“No, not at all,” he countered. “Besides, I’m not exactly sure what new means in your book,” he added, “but I’m sure you noticed our energy right from the moment we met.”

She nodded. “I did.”

“I’m sure you noticed our energy when I found you.”

She smiled, her gaze heating up, and she nodded. “I did.”

“And I’m sure you can feel our joint energy right now.”

She chuckled, wrapping her arms around his neck, and whispered, “Oh, I definitely do.” Because, in truth, there was this twisting, twining energy wrapped around them in a classic lovers’ embrace.

She shifted her hands to his buttocks, then rearranged her own hips, wrapping her thighs tightly around him. Whispering, she added, “I really do think it’s time for you to come home.”

He groaned at her words and, with one deft plunge, seated himself deep inside her. He raised himself up on his arms, his eyes closed as he shuddered. “Jesus, I don’t know whether it’s the energy or…”

“I don’t need an explanation either way,” she muttered. “For God’s sake, just move.”

And with a smile that quickly turned to a groan, he started to move, increasing the pace, plunge after plunge, until she cried out, her world coming apart in waves.

He followed soon afterward, collapsing beside her and rolling over to hold her close.

He kissed her once and, with a big sigh, suggested, “Nap time?”

She chuckled. “Only for a moment. Then after that, I suggest we go for round two.”

He pulled her closer and whispered, “I’m game, if you are, but remember that we have all the time we need.”

“Yeah, we have time,” she agreed, “but I don’t want to waste any more of it.”

Wrapping her arms around his neck, she pulled him down for another deep kiss, knowing that her future had never looked brighter.
