Amber
Later that day, I walk inside my favorite place, Tempting Treats . They have the most delicious cupcakes on the planet. I’ve come in so often that I’ve become good friends with the three Abbott sisters that own the place. Aurora, Avery and Audrey came to town a few years ago and snatched up three of the town’s most eligible bachelors in nothing flat.
A lot of women were upset, but I thought it was great. I love a good love story, and they each have one. Aurora married our sheriff, Garrison James, Avery married the local mechanic, Hudson Hayes, and Audrey married the local veterinarian, Colton Evans.
All three sisters got married really quickly and are blissfully in love. Their husbands are all completely obsessed with them and check in on them often. It’s hard not to be a little bit jealous. I don’t want their husbands, even though they are all sexy as hell. I just want the same thing with Kane. Is that too much to ask?
The girls aren’t much older than me, but since they have husbands and kids, I feel like they are real grown ups that have life experience and can give me good advice.
“Do you guys have a few minutes?” I ask. “I really need some advice about men. Well, a certain man.”
“Sure!” Aurora says, smiling brightly. She talks to their helper for a minute, then the three sisters usher me to a table in the corner. Thankfully, it’s not a super busy time. “What’s up?”
I sigh, not knowing where to start. “Well, okay, so you guys know my guardian, Kane?”
The three women grin. “Yes,” they answer in unison.
“Well, I’m desperately in love with him. I know, I know. He’s way out of my league. Anyway, I tried to kiss him six months ago and he rejected me. Sometimes I think that maybe he’s interested, but then I think I’m seeing what I want to see. But last night…”
“Last night?” Audrey prompts me after several seconds.
“Last night, I dreamed that he was in my room, kissing me and telling me he was obsessed with me. I know it wasn’t real, but it was so vivid. When I woke up, I swear I could smell his cologne. Also, he called me baby girl. He called me the same thing today. He’s never done that before.”
The sisters smile. “To start off, he’s not out of your league. You are sweet, smart, and gorgeous!” Audrey says. Aurora and Avery nod their heads in agreement.
“Really?”
“Yes!” they all say with enthusiasm.
“And sweetie, I don’t think it was a dream,” Avery says, putting her hand over mine. The others nod in agreement.
“Why would you say that?”
They all look at me with confusion. “You really don’t know, do you?” Aurora asks.
“Know what? You’re killing me here.”
They each squeeze my hands and take turns speaking.
“He stalks you.”
“Like everywhere.”
“All the time.”
“It’s the worst kept secret in town.”
“Everyone knows he’s obsessed with you.”
“What? No way! And I’m sure I would notice if he was stalking me.”
“Would you? Apparently not. Garrison sees him all the time. In fact, he saw him at the college yesterday,” Aurora says.
“We watch him follow you every time you come in here. He barely goes to the shop anymore. He’s too busy following you. It’s kind of sweet, really,” Avery says. She wanders over to the window, looking out. “Hmm. Wonder what Kane happens to be doing across the street, looking over here.”
“No way!” I race over to the window and glance out. Sure enough, there’s Kane. When he sees me, he turns away, trying to hide, but it’s pretty tough with his size. I walk back over to the table in a daze. All the times I thought I was just imagining him nearby, he was actually there? I sit down hard, stunned by this revelation.
“I don’t understand. He rejected me.”
“Guess what? Men do stupid things,” Aurora says. The other two nod in agreement. “He probably thinks he’s too old for you, or shouldn’t feel like that about you since he’s your guardian. Whatever it is, you need to confront him about it or do something to make him snap and admit his true feelings.”
“Like what?”
They think for a few moments before Avery smiles. “What if he thought you were going to have sex with another man?”
“Ooh!” the other two say in unison.
“I love it!” says Audrey.
“Me, too!” says Aurora.
“Hmmm. That’s could be interesting.” We spend the next thirty minutes talking and formulating a plan to seduce the man I love. I hug them all goodbye and promise to report back. I take a deep breath and glance in Kane’s direction. How on earth did I not notice him following me before?
I whistle as I walk down the street. I stop at Sugar and Spice, a lingerie store that is known for its gorgeous, sexy selection of styles. Surely I can find something perfect for seducing Kane.
A short time later, I walk out of the store with a small bag, ready to put my plan into action. I smile as I walk to my car, knowing that my sexy giant is following me.
