Chapter 9

NINE

Kendall

Ispent last weekend and all this week hyper-focused on getting everything in order for the grand opening. There has been very little time outside of the salon and spa. Early this week, I picked up the final permits.

I’m surprised I heard from Dane only once this week. After our interaction at the coffeehouse, I thought I’d hear from him sooner. This morning, he sent over a text.

Dane:

Any chance you can make a little time to have dinner with me this weekend?

I’m on the fence about having dinner with him, and the list for the opening events doesn’t seem to shrink, even though I’m checking things off.

A text message is the right thing to do to let him know. What do I even say?

Kendall:

Thanks for the invite, but I’m buried in spa opening prep this weekend. And you don’t exactly strike me as the type who waits around when a woman says no.

Dane:

Guilty. I don’t wait around…unless it’s for something I really, really want. And right now, that’s you. I’ll keep asking with heart eyes until you say yes.

Kendall:

Flirty and flattery noted. Still sus

Dane:

Of me or your own interest?

Kendall:

Let’s go with both.
