14. Chapter Fourteen
CHAPTER FOURTEEN
ORA
“So they call you War because your last name is Warden?” I ask, looking down at his driver’s license in my hand.
Levi Warden.
Even his name is sexy.
“Yeah,” he replies, turning to face me. We’re both lying in bed together after spending the night drinking and playing poker with the men. I’ve noticed a few things tonight.
One, Lore is a manwhore.
Two, the twins are flirts, but Bones is like a dog with a Bone. That’s probably how he got his name. Skull is more laid back and likes to watch everyone. I feel like there’s a lot that goes on in that head of his.
And three, War watched me like a hawk all night, making sure I wasn’t uncomfortable with anything going on around me.
“Well, that and Prez always says I’m not someone anyone wants to go war with.”
Kissing his shoulder, I put his license back on the bedside table and melt into him, smiling against his skin. “I can see that you are pretty badass.”
“Tell me about your family.”
“My mother died when I was eighteen,” I start, smiling sadly. “Never had anything to do with my dad. No brothers or sisters. My mother was born in Sri Lanka and moved here when she was a baby. I don’t really have any other family. I moved to Rest Falls, met Lu, and here I am.”
“I’m sorry you lost your mom,” he whispers, kissing my temple.
I shrug. “She gave me a good life. Worked hard and raised me right. That’s how I was able to buy my house here with all the money she had saved away for me. I still have our house in the city that I rent out too.”
Financially, I’m pretty set. And I get to work every day doing something I love with someone I love.
“She sounds amazing.”
“She was. Growing up as an only child was pretty lonely, though. We didn’t have any other family around, so I’d often be left alone while she was working, or she’d take me with her if she could,” I admit, opening up to him. I know it makes me sound a little spoiled because she was a good mom, but I do remember that feeling of loneliness.
“That must have been hard on both of you, not having any family support.”
I nod, remembering how independent I was at such a young age, not uncommon for a first-born daughter.
“But you have me now,” he says, kissing my jaw. “And the whole MC, so if you wanted a big, crazy family, you’ve got one.”
I smile at that.
“I told you I lost my dad, but I didn’t tell you how,” he says, absently running his fingers across my stomach. “It was a motorcycle accident. My mother moved across the country with her new husband. And my sister, Belle, lives in Rest Falls with her husband. She got married the day I met you.”
“Are you close with her?” I ask.
He hesitates. “She doesn’t exactly love that I followed in our father’s footsteps and became VP, just like he did, but we would do anything for each other. She’s younger than me by nine years, so there’s a bit of an age gap.”
“So she’s around my age?” I smirk, and he grins.
“Yeah, I guess she is. You got a problem with your man being older than you?”
“As long as you can keep up with me,” I tease, and he rolls me onto my back and tickles me. Laughing, I push him off, and luckily, he goes down easily, in more ways than one.
The party still goes on outside, and the loud music and laughter are not as annoying as I thought they would be. Suddenly, I can hear a banging noise against the wall that joins us, followed by a loud female moaning.
“Whose room is next to yours?” I whisper, but I get my answer when the woman starts yelling, “Angel!”
I can hear the deep rumble of his voice before she moans again, but this time, she calls him ‘Sir’ over and over.
I wish I could say I wasn’t getting turned on, but hearing them fucking is making me wet. War must have picked up on that because it only takes a few seconds before he’s lying on his stomach, spreading my thighs, and eating my pussy. After I come, he fucks me from behind, slapping my ass and fisting my hair.
I love every second of it.
When I wake up, I give War a soft kiss, letting him know I’m going to take a shower and then get ready for work. “Wait, I’m taking you,” he rumbles, his voice husky. His arm reaches out to pull me back into bed, but I quickly evade him, knowing I’ll never leave otherwise. However, when the shower door opens, and he’s standing there naked with his beautiful inked skin and muscles on display, I know I’m not going to have time to make breakfast.
It’s another hour before we rush downstairs, and Prez is sitting at the bar, drinking coffee. His blue eyes linger on mine for a moment too long, and I quickly look away. Does he know something? I ignore the naked women sleeping on the couch, especially when I realize it’s Daisy and Rose, and get the hell out of there. I didn’t see them here last night while we were playing cards, so I guess they must have been in the bedrooms. War drops me off just in time with a hungry kiss and an ass grab. Lu and I watch him ride off and then turn to each other. “You are so fucked,” she murmurs, pushing her blonde curls off her face.
“You have no idea,” I reply, sighing heavily. “Okay, let’s get baking.”
We have a busy morning, and we are almost sold out. When we hear more motorcycles, we assume it’s Bones and Skull coming in to get their regular fix or maybe even War or Lore. However, the three men who step inside the bakery aren’t men I’ve met before.
And they aren’t wearing Serpent of Chaos MC cuts.
“Can I help you?” I ask, keeping my voice sweet and my expression blank. The man in the middle steps forward, close enough I can see his patch.
Isle of Insanity MC.
Lovely name and fits the crazed look in his eyes.
He wears a vice president patch, just like War does.
“Yes, I think you can.” He smirks, his eyes roaming all over me and instantly I feel sick. “I hear the Serpents hang out here quite a lot. One look at you both, and I can see why.”
Lu stands up next to me, bringing out the freshly iced cupcakes. “We get lots of people coming in here. Best desserts in town,” she replies, nodding to the options. “What would you like?”
“We’ll take a mixed tray. Want to try a bit of everything that’s left,” he replies, licking his lips. He’s not unattractive, but the way he’s looking at us makes me want to run and hide. Picking up a tray, I grab a few of what’s left and put it on the table while Lu rings up the order.
“That’s thirty dollars.”
He slides the money on the counter and grabs her hand when she moves to take it. “We’re having a party tonight… you both should come. I’ll personally make sure you’re both well taken care of.”
We don’t reply, and they all turn to leave, but then the VP spins around and pins me with a final look. “Tell War we like it here, so I hope he doesn’t mind sharing.”
A wink, and then he’s gone.
I pick up my phone from under the counter and send War a message.
“What the fuck,” Lu murmurs, watching the men as they roar out of the parking lot. “I’ve never seen them around before.”
“Me either.”
My phone buzzes with a text.
War
Lock the doors and stay inside. We’re on the way.
“He wants us to lock up,” I say, glancing at her.
She shrugs and walks to the doors. “We’ve almost sold out, so why not? The men can have what’s left.”
“I’m sorry,” I blurt out, hating that I’ve brought this here. I don’t want my dating decisions to mess with her hard-earned business.
“It’s not your fault, Ora,” she replies, stretching on her toes to reach the upper lock. “The Serpents came in here before War even knew you worked here.”
She’s right, but still.
That man knew War and knew I was his.
He looked right at me when making his parting shot.
Lu unlocks the door for War, Angel, Haze, and Lore.
“Are you okay?” War asks, wrapping me in his arms and running his hand down my back in a soothing motion. “Tell me everything, Ora.”
Haze stands close to Lu and says something to her that is so quiet that I can’t hear what’s said.
I do hear her reply, though. “I’m fine. No need to pretend you care now.”
Ouch.
“I’m all right,” I assure War, recapping what happened. War gets angrier and angrier as the story progresses, his hands clenching into fists. He shares a look with his brothers, a muscle working in his jaw. “You have cameras here, Lu?”
“One outside.” She nods.
“Angel is going to set up more and check your security,” he says, his hand moving to my nape. His hold is possessive. “And I’m going to have someone watching over you both at all times.”
“They didn’t do anything?—”
“Not taking that chance, baby,” he replies, dipping his head to press a soft kiss against my mouth. “They threatened you. They knew what they were doing, and they’re going to pay for that.”
“War—”
“No one threatens what’s mine.”
Shit.
