Warrick: Lord of War (Bow Street’s Most Wanted: The Four Horsemen #3)

By Andrea K. Stein

Prologue

North Edge of Bay of Biscay

First Lieutenant Warrick Dyer shaded his eyes with one hand and hung on to the rigging with the other as he stood in the crow's nest of the French frigate he'd captured as a prize.

After all he and his small crew had endured to bring her back to Portsmouth, he didn't want a last-minute attack by the French before they entered the Channel to destroy their chances at claiming the prize.

If the Royal Navy decided to repair the ship and keep her, perhaps he could be named captain as well.

And then he saw her. A hint of billowing white on the horizon.

..another ship, perhaps six nautical miles off.

He nodded to Gordy who'd followed him up the rigging.

His bosun passed him a glass, which he put to his eye.

He could identify from the line of the ship's hull. ..another rogue French frigate lurking.

He snapped the glass shut and turned to Gordy. "Beat to quarters. They're coming after us."
