Chaper 6

Brixon

I can’t stop smiling, even just showering, knowing my little witch is going to be back in my arms tonight for the first time, since our first time together, has my dick rock hard. I still can’t believe all of this is real.

Pops was right, Genevieve is going to test every ounce of patience I have, and I welcome it. She is everything, and she is right here! All mine!

She is fucking sexy as hell, has a smart mouth, and may love a challenge as much as I do. I can’t wait to claim her over and over again, letting her know she will forever be mine and mine alone.

I wasted so much time fucking bimbos, yet never feeling fulfilled in the way I do just being in her presence.

When I read the letter from pops, I was sure he was fucking with me as a last-ditch joke to see how far I would take this. Now I still can’t believe I ever doubted him. I wish I had remembered everything before my mom died. I think she knew how I truly felt, underneath the spell.

I finish washing all the soap off and step out of the glass doorway to the shower, grabbing a black fluffy towel and wrapping it around my waist as I head into my walk-in-closet. I look around and decide to just pull out some grey joggers, and a white T-shirt.

“Hey, where ya at?” I hear Noah holler from outside my door.

“Getting dressed; I’ll be down in a few!” I holler back.

I get dressed quickly and make my way back downstairs as the smell of pizza hits my nose.

“Oh my God tell me you bought enough for me to take to Evie’s?” I ask as I open one of the boxes on the counter in the kitchen and grab a slice of pepperoni.

“I got plenty. Figured we would all want to stay in tonight. I know I do. Sorry Noah, but you are banished to your room or the backyard.” Liam laughs as he takes a bite of his typical pepperoni and jalapeno pizza.

“Don’t worry, I’ll make myself scarce in the media room tonight jerking off to whatever porn I can find on my favorite site!” Noah rolls his eyes, sighing.

“Why don’t you go out tonight? I heard Bourbon Heat is having a party with live music. You never know, you could meet someone.” I offer, attempting to get him to go have some fun. Sometimes, I feel like Noah prefers solitude.

“Maybe, I do love their boils!” He replies with a smirk as he drops his Canadian bacon and pineapple pizza back on his paper plate. He gets up from the table nodding his head, “Yeah, I think I’ll go take a shower and go out tonight. Don’t wait up!” He chuckles, waggling his eyebrows as he turns the corner out of the kitchen.

“Well, that was easy. Now go to Evie’s and work your magic getting Emily to come over here!” Liam nudges my shoulder.

“I don’t think I’ll have to beg bro. She was gushing about you to Evie this morning. She already likes you; you just have to make sure she continues to like you.” I joke with my best friend. We have been through a lot together over the years. Love just has not been one of them. We never planned on settling down.

We had a plan in place so that we wouldn’t have to.

Noah, on the other hand, I have always expected to find someone special and settle down at any point in time. He has always longed for love, just never found anyone he wanted to give his love to.

He is as ruthless as we are when it comes to the job, but he is very different when it comes to what he has always wanted in life. I hope he finds his mystery girl and she is everything he could have ever dreamed of. Noah truly is a hopeless romantic.

“I just want tonight to go well. She was drunk on some wine that she got in a big thank you basket one of her authors sent her and probably doesn’t remember much anyway. She told me a few things about herself and why she is a recluse. She doesn’t seem fragile, but she is. I don’t want to break her.” Liam is more open about real feelings right now than I have ever seen him be with anything. Maybe we have all been under the same spell not able to feel until we were all back together.

I’ve noticed that Emily doesn’t venture out much. It made getting the cameras in tricky, but I made sure Liam kept an eye on her so I could slip out before she returned. Mostly, she just brings Genevieve lunch or heads to a place off Frenchmen St. that belongs to her author friend Lily.

Last week she surprised us and met Lily, who is a stunning strawberry blonde. Noah seemed to drool over her a bit while we watched the girls eat lunch at the little jazz bistro close to her house called Snug Harbor.

“Maybe you can help mend her broken pieces. Take your time with her, get to know her, and see where it goes. That’s all I got man. I’m not really in a position to give advice. I know my little witch is the only woman I’ll ever need, but I spent my whole life trying to win her over before she was taken from me. Honestly, I don’t know the first thing about relationships.” I reply as honestly as I can.

Two weeks ago, I wouldn’t have uttered those words about anyone, let alone had thought them at all.

“I will be as patient with her as she needs. I ordered a few things last week that finally came in to help get us over the hump!” Liam claps his hands, rubbing them together as he stands up and leaves the room for only a few seconds. He comes back carrying a big box, then dumps it on the table.

“Jesus Christ! What did you do, order the whole setup from porn hub r us? Is this because they thought we were gay?” I ask as I sift through the mountain of XXX DVD’s, four different pocket pussies, what looks like a human female ass that is very realistic, a blow-up doll, three penis pumps, three rubber doll faces with the mouth open in an O, three large boxes of flavored condoms that glow in the dark, three boxes of regular condoms, and every lube known to mankind.

“I ordered this last week when I thought you were going to take forever to get pipsqueak over there to finally give you the time of day. Now, it’s perfect for me if Emily isn’t ready to take that step, since she just got out of a relationship. I can be the good guy and wait for her instead of being my typical man-whore self, fucking whatever is present to get by! Don’t ya think?” He explains as he slaps the fake ass, grinning from ear to ear.

“Hmm, really does seem more realistic when you smacked it. You can keep this shit for you and Noah man, I think I’m good. But thanks!” I laugh as I smack the ass myself. Feels like a real ass! I watch it jiggle, nodding my approval. I had to feel it at least once to see.

“Yup pretty realistic!” I joke as I grab a few pizza boxes and head out the side door, of the kitchen.

“Yeah, we’ll see how much you need it when Evie is every bit the prude she was ten years ago bro!” Liam yells after me laughing as the door shuts.

They don’t know that I took her virginity that night, and they have no clue she took mine.

“We’ll see asshole!” I mumble under my breath with a smirk.

He may not be wrong but judging by the way my little witch’s body reacted to my every touch, I’m pretty sure I’m good. My dick hardens at the thought of being with her again.

I have to tell her everything before I let it get to that though...

I stop halfway around the porch and turn back around going back in the way I came out. Liam looks up stunned.

“What did you forget? Or did she reject you already?!” He busts out laughing.

“I forgot the file! You’re a dickhead! I can’t sleep with her and act like I don’t have secrets right now, she deserves to know the truth. I need to show her before I take anything to whatever level is next with us. She will see it anyway if I don’t and I can’t be that guy with her.” I get serious for a minute to make sure he understands what this means.

“I’ll grab it, do what ya gotta do brother. I’m going to go ahead and contact Alec and see what he knows. He was the one who brought all the shit about Boudreaux and Queen bee. He will be the one we need to go through on this one if we want to find him. You’re right, she is gonna want to know who her mom and dad are.” He offers before disappearing from the kitchen again.

He returns quickly, placing the large envelope on top of the pizza boxes I’m holding.

“If she kicks you out, you might wanna go to Bourbon Heat with Noah.” He taunts, but then puts on a serious face giving me a nod.

“Got it bro, I’ll give you time with Emily.” I roll my eyes, but I get it. I would expect the same courtesy.

I finally make it to Evie’s porch, where I remember kissing her so many times as a teenager. I ring the doorbell and look at the porch swing, towards the right side of the house. We would sit there for hours after her curfew just so I could spend more time with her.

We would watch the stars, make out, and talk about what we thought our future would look like together, never realizing everything was going to be cut short.

I look back to the door and hear stomping and giggling. To my surprise, Emily opens the door with a bright smile on her face. She is blonde, probably five foot seven, has pretty blue eyes, and a sweetheart shaped face that I don’t think she ever puts makeup on. She doesn’t need it. She is naturally pretty and from what I’ve heard when she talks to Evie and her author friends, she is hilarious. I see what has Liam so smitten with her. She is like a bouncing little ball of light.

“Hey Brixon, come on in. Evie just hopped in the shower and will be right down. I had her talking for a bit when she got back. Make yourself at home, I’m gonna go change before I head over to see Liam.” She ushers me into the living room, taking the pizza boxes from me.

I grab the envelope before she carries the pizza to the kitchen.

Damn, I didn’t even have to ask her to go. Points for Evie.

I sit on the large, oversized leather sofa that is new. I look around the room and realize quickly that all of the furniture is different from the last time I was here. Evie has really spruced up the place. I love all the little details she left of her gran. She loved her so much. I hate that I wasn’t here to care for her through losing her family.

I glance over at the fireplace and see her mom and gran's urns resting on the mantle, just like mine. I turn my attention back to the envelope, aware of how hard this will be for her. But it’s the right thing to do; she deserves the truth—at the very least, she deserves to know who her parents are.

“Whatever you are wrestling with, it’ll all work out.” Emily pops out of nowhere, beaming like a little ray of sunshine, jolting me back from being lost in the abyss of my thoughts.

“What if it’s too much too soon?” I ask, unsure if she understands the weight of my words.

“Better to rip the Band-Aid off completely, rather than drawing it out any longer, don’t you think?” She answers my question with a question while still giving an answer, making me chuckle slightly.

She reminds me of how Cami and Charlie would always speak to everyone, even when we were little kids. Their words were always riddled. It’s like they had their own language.

It’s how my mom would always answer me when I asked for help with whatever particular problem I had at the moment. Her words sound in my head all the time when I have to make difficult decisions. Like now, I hear my mom’s voice in my head telling me to be here for whatever Geneveive will need to get through this.

“Thank you, Emily. I appreciate you saying that.” I nod and give her a knowing smile.

She bounces up on her toes clasping her hands at her chest as she beams sunlight, giving me the most infectious smile I think I have ever seen, “Anytime! Trust me, she is worth it all. I’ll see ya later, have a good night and take care of her. I know she seems tough, and she is, but sometimes she needs to let it out and not be okay to.” With that, she nods and heads out the front door, still smiling.

I’m left alone with my thoughts, wondering if my little witch will be able to handle what I’m about to drop in her lap. I let out a sigh, raking my hands down my face before letting them fall into my lap.

“Hey, sorry, I got to talking to Em about everything and lost track of time.” Evie comes into the living room, wearing green boxer shorts and a grey Tulane T-shirt with no bra. Her curly brown hair is still wet, sticking to her face as she plops down next to me on the couch.

“No big deal. I brought pizza if you’re hungry, you haven’t eaten all day.” I say as I place my hand on her tanned, smooth thigh.

“I knew I smelled pepperoni!” she exclaims, jumping off the couch and practically racing to the kitchen. Evie used to love pizza more than almost any other food on the planet.

She returns with all three boxes, a slice hanging from her mouth, and sets them down on the coffee table.

“What’s this?” she asks, pulling the pizza slice from her mouth with one hand while grabbing the envelope with the other. She plops back down on the couch next to me, looking at me expectantly for an answer.

Fuck, I planned on easing her into it first.

“Well, do you want to eat first?” I ask as she gives me a questioning look. She can see it all over my face. She felt it when I touched her. I knew she would.

She felt my anxiety, fear, hope, worry, and apprehension. The absolute dread of whatever comes from what’s in that envelope. It could change everything, or nothing for her where I’m concerned.

She continues to give me a look. A look I know all too well. She is giving me the chance to come clean before she gets answers her way.

In this moment I’m not sure which would be worse.
