14. Kaos
CHAPTER FOURTEEN
KAOS
“ W here’s the little lamb?” Kovu asks as he eats yet another cookie that Chloe baked in preparation for our visit today.
“Pretty sure Crew’s fucking her in her childhood bedroom.” I smirk.
He pauses mid-chew, his eyes darting to the stairs that lead to her room.
“You got her last night,” Bishop reminds him.
There’s a moment where I think he’s going to charge upstairs and join them, but then he pops the rest of his cookie in his mouth and turns to me. “Everything ready for when they get here?”
I nod. “All systems are go. Let’s hope they’re done up there soon because they’ll be here any minute now.”
“I can go—” Kovu starts.
“No,” Bishop and I snap.
He smirks at us before turning on his heel and moving toward the dining room where we’re having the meeting. There are too many of us to cram into John De Marco’s office, and I get the impression Camilla still isn’t a fan of that room after watching the tape of Kovu killing her father in there.
A door upstairs opens, and a moment later a flushed Camilla appears on the landing with Crew a few steps behind. She runs her fingers through her slightly mussed hair before she rights her clothes and brushes her fingers over her swollen lips.
“You two have fun?” Bishop asks with a smirk playing at the corners of his lips.
Crew throws a wink down the stairs at the same time Camilla blushes. You’d think by now she’d be used to us, but I guess it takes some time to get used to being in a relationship with so many people.
She reaches the bottom step at the same time there’s a knock at the front door, and she pauses, her eyes darting to the heavy wooden door.
I pull her into me and press a kiss to her lips. “Head into the dining room, we’ll be there in a minute.”
She looks uncertain for a beat before she does as she’s told, and the three of us watch her perky ass as she heads the same way Kovu did a few moments ago. I’d be worried he was going to jump her the second she walks into the room, but Elias is already waiting in there.
“You ready?” Bishop asks Crew, who nods and moves toward the front door.
I let out a breath and steel my spine. Gathering all our allies in one place could be the worst mistake we’ve ever made, but right now, this is our only option.
If we want to keep Camilla safe and take down Caleb, we’re going to need all hands on deck.
I just hope this isn’t the beginning of the end for us all.
