Chapter 3

The Adventures of Olive & Sadie

Olive

“Is she sleeping yet?” I ask Sadie as we sit silently making sure Charlee doesn’t hear us.

“I think so,” she answers, and I giggle.

“You ready to roll and break out of here?” I ask, and a grin spreads over her porcelain face.

Climbing off the chair, I tiptoe across the wood floor towards the window Charlee left open, and I glance over my shoulder at Sadie and wink.

Pulling myself up the small bookshelf to the top of the windowsill, I reach out and give Sadie a hand, pulling her up.

“You sure you want to come with me?” I ask and she nods.

“I’ve been waiting to go on an adventure with you. Kai was very demanding and pissed me off most of the time. At least you’re funny and make me feel wanted,” she answers, and I smile.

“Alright, let’s go,” I tell her, ducking under the open window and jumping into the rain gutter and sliding down while laughing the entire way.

Once my Mary Janes hit the grass, I flatten out my dress and fix my hair while I wait for Sadie to make her way down.

Looking up, I see she’s halfway and is frozen in place.

“What is the hold up?” I whisper-shout.

“My dress is stuck,” she yells down.

“Jesus fucking Christ. You’re a magic doll. Use your powers or something. Hurry up,” I whine, and she huffs flying the rest of the way down. I shake my head at her but grab her hand and run across the yard to the sidewalk.

I really wish Charlee would get her head out of her ass and just listen to us.

She’s not crazy. She’s been hearing voices all her life, but she’s too afraid to embrace it.

She keeps ignoring it and yelling at us to shut up when, if she would just listen, it would really make her life easier.

Savannah sent us to raise hell on the ones who cost her everything.

Alastair, Clementine, Lucille, Pin, Edith, Bess, and Seraphina—they all did amazing.

They killed and tortured the monsters, and now it’s my turn.

Charlee’s parents, Derek and Sherry, are innocent in all this.

They aren’t the ones Savannah wants hurt.

I was instructed to protect Charlee from everyone else, especially Jeremy and Tatum.

Luckily, Kai and Sadie took care of that bitch, but Jeremy has it coming.

Once Charlee finally gives in and lets us show her the truth, then Jeremy will be on the list to bleed out!

“Where are we going?” Sadie asks, and I grin.

“The house on the left, right before Savannah’s,” I tell her, and we skip hand in hand as I hum a tune while Sadie sings her spider song.

Walking through the grass of Clara’s house, I stop and close my eyes, letting my mind move within the house, finding where the little piggy sleeps.

“Bingo, back room of the house on the first floor,” I whisper as we walk through the yard to the back, finding her window with ease.

Climbing up the drainpipe and hopping onto the sill, I run my finger down the screen, using my powers to sharpen the tip and cut a slit through the netting.

Once that’s finished, I flip it up and push my little body through and roll onto her desk.

Standing up, I fix myself and wait for Sadie.

Once she’s in, I grin as loud snores echo the small bedroom.

“Hand me the shears,” I ask her, and she reaches into the cup on the desk where the scissors sit next to a bunch of pens and markers. She hands it to me as I twirl a thin eyebrow razor in my hand.

“Do you want to do the honors while I cut her hair?” I ask, and her eyes light up, and a grin spreads across her face.

“Yes I do,” she says, taking the thing from my grip as I take the scissors from her.

We slowly jump off the desk into a chair then onto her bed.

We freeze as Clara rolls onto her back, and once the snores start up again, we move quickly to the top of the bed.

I close my eyes and blow into her ear, sending a nightmare into her dreams, causing her to whimper.

Sadie giggles, and I follow suit, taking the shears and slicing into her blonde hair as I sing her a song.

“Hush now, little piggy, Olive is here to guide you through the night. No need to scream, no need to fear. I will wipe away your tears with gasoline,” I giggle as Clara whines in her sleep.

Sadie sits in front of her face and glides the razor over her eyebrows, removing any trace of hair above her eyes.

Stepping back, I look at how we did and I’m pleased with the outcome.

I close my eyes again, sending a million ants into her nightmare, waiting for her heart rate to pick up and sweat beads down her forehead.

Placing the shears down, I walk to the end of the bed and jump onto the chair with Sadie not too far behind.

I notice a paper that looks like it’s important, like a lab report, and I grin again, taking the liquid whiteout, twisting the top and removing the stick.

Handing it to Sadie to hold, I pour some of the liquid on each page, ruining her report with a smile on my face.

Clara screams out from her dream, making me giggle.

“That’s what you get for messing with my bestie little piggy,” I snarl, then exit the room the same way we came in.

We walk home hand in hand, skipping and singing our lullabies until we reach our home, climbing up the water spout and through the window.

Once safely inside, we climb into bed with Charlee, and I blow into her ear, sending her the same scene from last night, hoping the more I do this, the sooner she will embrace the dark side of her and help us fulfill our destiny while killing everyone who has harmed her.
