Epilogue The Dollmaker
The Dollmaker
Epilogue
Savannah-
It’s been a few days since some of the dolls returned with their teenagers.
I’m still waiting for a few more, but something is wrong.
Madelyn, Quinn, and Charlee are the only ones left, but I can’t feel Quinn, and the jolt that just ran through my body is telling me something bad is either happening at this moment or has already happened.
I step out of the front door into the sunlight and look up at the sky.
Dark clouds start to form, and lightning strikes the metal fence just after Madelyn shuts it.
Thunder crashes above us as all the teenagers rush towards me from the house, with Bones following behind.
He lands on my shoulder, pecking at my hair as I hear rattling at the fence.
Looking over, I see Olive and Sadie using their magic to fly over.
I laugh as I watch Sadie navigate herself and barrel roll into the fountain, submerging into the water.
“Christ, Sadie, we really need to do a crash course on your landing or something,” Olive huffs, and I continue to laugh.
“Shut up, Olive. It’s fun as fuck.” She giggles, and Olive just shakes her head. Her eyes fly to mine, and all I see is sadness.
“Olive, where’s Charlee?” I ask, just as another rumble of thunder crashes above us and lightning strikes the lamp post, bursting the glass into a million pieces. The sky suddenly darkens, turning everything to a light gray.
“What is happening right now?” Olive asks as Sadie climbs out of the fountain, shivering. Olive snaps her fingers, and Sadie twirls like a tornado. I laugh when she comes to a stop and falls on the driveway.
“That was too fast Olive, I think I’m going to be sick.” Sadie groans.
“Well lie there for a second, get your bearings babe before getting up so you don’t break an arm or something,” Olive tells her.
“Alright, girls. What is going on?” I ask—no, I demand, and they both snap their heads to me, but don’t say anything as they grab each other's hands and widen their eyes behind me. “Wh—”
“Hey there, Dolly.” A deep voice rasps from behind me, and I spin, seeing a tall man, shirtless with black leather pants, gorgeous, thick black and silver wings on his back and deep red eyes.
My god, he’s beautiful. The curled red horns protruding from his temples are intriguing.
I almost want to reach out and touch them.
Sadie and Olive come to stand next to me, but I notice Sadie has the biggest grin on her face.
“Do you know him?” I whisper and she looks up at me with a smile.
“You know him too, that’s deadly, aka Kai in his demon form.” She tells me, and my eyes widen. He clears his throat, and she rolls her eyes.
“I’m not a demon. I am the devil himself now.
Welcome to hell,” he laughs, which echoes through the yard so loudly as a chill snakes up my spine.
The wind picks up around us, and I look into the house and see the others all with a frightened look across their faces.
The entire scene before us transforms into night with fire bellowing from the ground.
“Kai, what is this? Where did you take us?” I ask, and he just laughs.
“You’ll see soon enough, Sav,” He tells me, but I don’t like that answer. The teenagers and their dolls come to stand behind me, each one touching a part of my body, sending their energy through my veins. It’s so strong it almost makes me want to vomit.
“Sadie,” A voice calls out, and both dolls gasp as Quinn steps out beyond Kai’s wings.
“Quinn? Is that really you?” She asks and Quinn nods.
“It is,” she cries as Sadie runs towards her, letting Quinn scoop her up into her arms. I look down at Olive with a raised brow.
“Where is my daughter, Olive?” I question as a lone tear falls from her eye. “No, don’t you dare tell me–”
“Wait, where is Charlee?” Quinn asks as the metal gates rattle from behind all of us.
“Come out, come out wherever you are!” A voice I know all too well yells out. Taking a deep breath, I walk towards the gate, but Kai stops me.
“Let me take care of it.” He says, but I shake my head.
“No, Kai. He’s mine!” I tell him and he nods.
“Come on, Savannah. You fucking bitch. Open up! It’s time we had a little chat,” Jeremy yells, and yet again, I walk to the gate.
“I’m here you prick. Open the fucking gate yourself!” I spit, and he grins like he’s walking out of here alive today. Fun fact—he’s not. The gates burst open, and he steps in, walking right up to me, but is halted by Kai’s shadows. Black smoke bellows around him like snakes ready to strike.
“What the fuck is this?” He asks and I smirk.
“Welcome to your hell, Jer,” I say, and his eyes widen.
“ Don’t act so surprised. You are far from a Saint.
This is where you belong. Your own personal hell to suffer for everything you took from me,” I spit, tightening my hands into fists as I look him straight in the eyes.
“I want you to suffer every fucking minute of your remaining days in here. I want you to feel everything you forced upon me.” I growl, stepping closer to him.
“You don’t deserve peace or an ounce of remorse. You piece of shit!” I yell.
“You’re wrong. You deserved everything you got, Savannah.
You made me look stupid. Cheating on me with Tripp.
Allowing him to make you cum harder than I ever did.
” He growls. “You were mine! I wanted a life with you and only you! Savannah! I still fucking love you, but you forced my hand. You aren’t innocent in this! ” He shouts, and I shake my head.
“No, you will not place blame on me for your mistakes. You orchestrated a gang rape! You and my best friend had both teams beat me and kill OUR baby! Jeremy! Our fucking baby! You murdered your own child!” I scream, and he takes a step closer to me, my eyes never leaving the knife he’s holding in his hand.
I can feel every doll's power flowing freely in my veins, giving me the strength I need to accomplish his demise.
Kai’s shadow creeps very close to Jeremy’s face, snapping at him like the hounds of hell.
“I saw you with Tripp every night that I climbed up the vines and onto your balcony and witnessed you with him. How do you think that made me feel Sav? My running back fucking my girl. The girl I loved with everything I am, was with another man in her bed?” he asks, and I laugh.
“The girl you loved? Ha! That’s rich! You abused me, that's not love Jeremy!” I shout! “I never fucking loved you! It’s always been Tripp and it will always be him!” I make sure the last words drip from my lips like honey while sending a wicked smile his way.
“You fucking cunt!” He growls, rearing his arm back to hit me and with the flick of my wrist, I send the energy through my fingertips and crack his wrist bone back, causing him to scream.
“What was that, Jer, I can’t quite hear you!
” I laugh, snapping his arm back as more screams fly from his throat.
“How does it feel? To scream like a little bitch, just like I did that night on the tracks? Huh? Does it feel good Jeremy? You fucking baby killer.” I scream, sending his other wrist to snap backward.
“He killed me too,” Quinn chimes in, and my eyes narrow.
“I-I, she’s a liar,” he stutters, spittle leaking from his lips, and I laugh.
“No, you’re the liar. Where is my daughter, Jeremy?” I ask, taking another step closer. Snapping his knee caps, forcing him to the ground as he continues to scream.
“I don’t know what you are talking about,” he lies again as the fire around us picks up through the ground, making it extremely warm.
“Where’s my daughter?” I ask again, getting in his face.
I rear my arm back and punch him in the cheek, causing his head to snap to the side.
Picking up the knife from the ground, I press it against his chest. “Answer the question,” I growl, as I take my free hand and cup his cheek, sending energy through my palm and onto his face, burning his skin and watching it melt down to the bone.
“Ahhhh,” he screams, “How are you doing this? I’ve been hearing voices for weeks, was that you too? I don’t understand.” He cries out as I apply more pressure to the handle and sink my finger into his jaw, ripping out a tooth and sliding it into my pocket.
“I couldn’t get my revenge otherwise I’d end up in jail.
But I created these dolls to kill all of you, at the hands of your children.
Saving you for last.” I smile sinisterly.
“You took everything from me, Jeremy, over fucking jealousy. All because I didn’t want to be with you.
That’s pathetic. Just like you. Now I can’t wait to watch you suffer.
” I yell, sending the knife into his chest. “All the hurt, all the pain was because of you! And now it’s my turn to show you pain!
” I scream. Kai’s shadows hold him still while I pull the knife from his chest and stab him right under his throat.
Then I drag the blade down his chest, over his stomach and down to his pelvis.
Nodding at Kai, he releases Jeremy, letting him fall to his back.
“Bu–but I love you, Savannah. It’s always been you,” He whispers, and I roll my eyes, looking over at the dolls.
“You guys hungry?” I ask and they smile.
“It’s time to feast,” I say. They run past me and I watch as they rip open his chest cavity and devour his insides, the sounds of breaking bones, sloshing of blood and the ripple effect of chewing on his organs.
He screams while they feast, and I laugh, watching every second of his body trembling.
“Sav, baby.” A familiar voice echoes through the space. I spin, searching for it, and finally find him standing by the burning fountain.
“Tripp?” I whisper, and he smiles as tears pour down my face. I run to him and he catches me easily, wrapping his arms around me. I cup his face, looking into his blue eyes. “Are you really here?” I ask as my heart skips a beat.
“Yes, baby I’m here. When I told you for eternity, I meant it.
” He laughs, and I press my lips against his, melting into his warmth.
I can’t believe he’s here. He pulls away, looking into my eyes.
“I have someone I want you to meet,” he tells me, placing me down on my feet, as a young girl comes into view with long curly hair and green eyes just like mine.
“Charlee?” I ask, and she nods as Jeremy’s screams continue to echo through the air.
“Yeah, Mom. It's me.” She says, and I open my arms to give her a hug, which she embraces along with tiny hands at my legs.
Looking down, I see Olive, her mouth dripping with blood and her hands soaked in crimson.
I smile as she looks up at me with admiration and thirst exploding in her eyes while she hugs us, too.
“Uh, Sav. Why isn’t he dying?” Olive asks, and I turn to look at Jeremy, and he’s healing. What the fuck? I look over at Kai, who has his arms protectively around Quinn, and I raise a brow.
“Quinn?” Charlee yells, and the two girls run to one another. I watch their embrace, wishing I had a friendship like that, but equally glad that they had that together growing up.
“Savannah, the longer we are here in hell the more he will heal but it's painful. He’s not getting off easy but he won’t die here.” Kai tells me and I nod.
“Okay, then put us back into reality so we can finish him,” I order, but he shakes his head.
“You will have a choice to make, Savannah,” he tells me, and I nod. Folding my arms over my chest.
“What is the choice?” I ask, and he huffs, causing black smoke to bellow from his nose.
“The dead cannot stay in the real world. There’s a time limit. We kill Jeremy and come back to hell. Only the living can make the choice of coming and going,” he says, and I roll my eyes.
“That’s an easy choice. Send us back! Let's finish this!” I order, and he nods, covering us in black smoke until the sun peeks through and darkness fades away, putting us right where we were in my front yard. I grab Tripp’s hand, and he smiles at me.
“Hey, Mom, can me and Quinn kill him?” Charlee asks, and I look up at Tripp. He nods, then looks at his daughter with admiration.
“Yes, go for it. We will dismember him and have a BBQ to celebrate.” I tell her, and she cheers, grabbing Quinn’s hand while Sadie and Olive stay close to them. Looking at Jeremy, who has a wicked grin across his face, I laugh as I snap my finger.
“Hey, Jer, how does it feel to have no backbone?” I ask as he screams, and I watch a piece of his vertebrae protruding out of place down his spine.
The girls giggle as Kai hands Quinn his left horn and Charlee his right.
Tripp squeezes my hand, stepping behind me, wrapping his arm around my waist, running his nose down the column of my neck.
“I’ve missed you, baby. Are you going to come home with me?” he asks, licking the shell of my ear as the sounds of skin shredding, bones breaking, and the monster from my nightmares screams bloody murder.
“For Eternity, baby. I go where you go! I don’t have anything left here, so there’s no reason to stay.” I confess, and he kisses down my neck.
“I love you, Savannah,” he whispers, and I turn my head to look up at him.
“I love you more Tripp.” I breathe as he leans down, capturing my lips with his.
“Hey, Mom. You’re up.” Charlee says, tossing the horn at me.
Tripp lets me go as I walk up to them and straddle Jeremy’s convulsing body, which is now unrecognizable.
His eyes widen as I take the horn, bring it over my head and slam it into his eye socket, then pull it out as pinkish goo coats the sharp end of the horn.
He screams, and I smirk, blasting the horn right through his skull as brain matter flies onto the driveway and into my hair.
I look around and smile as everyone surrounds me.
Kai steps forward, bending towards Quinn, who places his horn back in its place.
I hand her his other horn, and she repeats the motion.
“You are all free, we can go together to hell or you can stay here. The choice is yours.” I tell everyone as Tripp helps me up from the ground.
One by one, they all look around at each other, clasping their hands together, looking up at Kai, waiting to go to our new home. I guess the decision was easy.
“Let’s grill, baby.” Tripp smiles, cupping my face and pressing his lips against mine. I deepen the kiss, wrapping my arms around his shoulders, never wanting to let this man go.
“For eternity?” He asks and I smile.
“For eternity.”
