18 - The Trainer

MFM / Hotwife / Voyeurism / Humiliation

Greg Hartwell stared at himself in the bathroom mirror, the harsh fluorescent lights highlighting every flaw.

At forty-eight, time hadn’t been kind to him—thinning hair, soft middle, eyes that looked perpetually tired.

He splashed cold water on his face and tried not to think about what had happened in the bedroom twenty minutes ago.

Emily had been so patient, as always. “It happens,” she’d said, her voice gentle as she stroked his shoulder. But Greg had seen the flicker of disappointment in her eyes before she could hide it.

It was the third time this month. The third time he’d failed to satisfy his wife.

Greg dried his face with a plush hand towel, his hands trembling slightly.

This wasn’t supposed to happen to men like him.

He was successful, powerful in the boardroom.

His financial consulting firm had doubled its revenue last year.

He made decisions that affected millions of dollars daily.

And yet here, in the most intimate part of his life, he was utterly powerless.

The irony wasn’t lost on him. Money could buy almost anything, but it couldn’t buy stamina. It couldn’t make him feel like a real man again.

He walked back to their bedroom. Emily was already asleep, or pretending to be.

At thirty-two, she was still as beautiful as the day they’d met—smooth skin, toned legs, her honey-blonde hair spread across the pillow.

In his darker moments, Greg wondered why she’d married him at all.

Sure, he was successful, his financial consulting firm making more money than either of them could spend, but Emily had never seemed to care about that.

“I love you for you,” she always said. But lately, Greg wondered if that was enough.

He slid into bed beside her, careful not to wake her. Emily stirred slightly, murmuring something in her sleep. Once, she would have reached for him, even half-conscious. Now, she kept to her side of the king-sized mattress, the space between them a physical manifestation of their growing distance.

The next morning over breakfast, Greg pushed his eggs around his plate while Emily scrolled through her phone. She was wearing her running clothes, her hair pulled back in a ponytail. Even without makeup, she was stunning.

Greg felt a familiar ache in his chest—love mingled with fear. Fear that she would someday realize she could do better.

“I’ve been thinking,” he said suddenly, breaking the comfortable silence. “You mentioned wanting to get more active.”

Emily looked up, surprised. “Yeah, I did. Why?”

“I got you something. A trainer. At Elevation Fitness.”

Her eyebrows rose. “A trainer? Greg, those are expensive.”

He shrugged, trying to appear casual. “We can afford it. Besides, I thought it might be good for both of us. Maybe I’ll join you sometimes.”

What he didn’t say was that he hoped it might help them reconnect. That maybe if they shared this activity, if they both worked on themselves physically, the spark might return. That maybe he wouldn’t feel so inadequate every time he looked at her.

“That would be nice,” Emily said, reaching across the table to squeeze his hand. Her smile was genuine, her eyes warming with affection. “Thank you.”

Greg returned her smile, ignoring the voice in his head that whispered he’d made a terrible mistake.

Tyler Chambers looked exactly like the kind of man who would intimidate Greg—six-foot-two, shoulders like a linebacker, arms that strained against the fabric of his fitted trainer shirt.

Probably twenty-six, though Greg tried not to dwell on that.

His handshake was firm, his smile confident without being arrogant.

“Mrs. Hartwell, it’s great to meet you,” Tyler said, his attention fully on Emily. He had the kind of voice that demanded attention—deep, resonant, naturally authoritative. “And Mr. Hartwell, thanks for setting this up. Not many husbands are this supportive.”

Greg nodded, suddenly feeling self-conscious in his expensive but ill-fitting workout clothes. Next to Tyler, he felt every one of his forty-eight years. His watch cost more than what Tyler probably made in a month, but that somehow didn’t seem to matter here.

“I’ll be over on the treadmill,” he said, already retreating.

“Cool, man. Let me know if you need any pointers,” Tyler responded, his tone friendly but with an undercurrent that made Greg wonder if he was being subtly mocked.

For the next hour, Greg pretended to focus on his own halfhearted workout while watching Emily and Tyler from across the gym.

Tyler was professional, keeping a respectful distance as he showed Emily how to use the equipment.

But there was something in the way Emily responded to him—laughing at his jokes, concentrating intensely when he demonstrated a movement, her eyes following him as he moved around her.

Greg noticed how she tucked her hair behind her ear when Tyler spoke to her, a gesture he hadn’t seen her make in years.

He saw how she straightened her posture, pulled her shoulders back when Tyler approached.

Small things, unconscious things, but they sent a clear message: she was attracted to him.

Tyler had her doing squats now, standing behind her to correct her form. His hands hovered near her waist, not quite touching but close enough. Emily’s face was flushed, her breathing heavy.

“You’ve got great natural form,” Tyler said, his voice carrying across the gym. “Most people struggle with the mind-muscle connection, but you’ve got it.”

Emily beamed at the praise, glowing in a way Greg hadn’t seen in months. He increased the speed on his treadmill, as if he could outrun the knot forming in his stomach.

By the time they finished, Emily was glowing with exertion, her skin dewy with sweat. She looked alive, vibrant in a way that made Greg’s chest ache.

“Same time next week?” Tyler asked, his eyes lingering on Emily just a fraction too long.

“Absolutely,” Emily replied, a little too quickly. “I can already feel the difference.”

In the car on the way home, Emily couldn’t stop talking about the session. “Tyler says I have potential. He thinks I could even compete someday if I wanted to.”

“Compete?” Greg asked, confused. He kept his eyes on the road, gripping the steering wheel too tightly.

“Figure competitions. Not bodybuilding, just toned. Athletic.” She glanced at him, suddenly self-conscious. “Don’t worry; I’m not planning to get bulky.”

Greg forced a smile. “Whatever makes you happy.”

What he wanted to say was, “I’m worried. I’m worried about the way you looked at him. I’m worried about the way he looked at you. I’m worried that I’ve just paid someone to make my wife realize how inadequate I am.”

But he said nothing.

Later that night, Emily emerged from the shower, skin flushed and warm. The scent of her lavender body wash filled the bedroom. She crawled into bed beside Greg, sliding her hand across his chest.

“I feel amazing,” she whispered, pressing her lips to his neck. “So … alive.”

Greg turned toward her, his body responding to her touch.

For a moment, he allowed himself to hope.

But as they moved together, his mind filled with images of Tyler’s confident hands demonstrating exercises, Emily’s rapt attention.

The familiar anxiety crept in—the pressure to perform—and when the moment came, it was over too quickly … again.

The disappointment in Emily’s eyes was unmistakable this time. She tried to hide it, but Greg saw it plainly—the slight downward turn of her mouth, the way her eyes fluttered closed momentarily.

“I’m sorry,” Greg whispered, the words inadequate even to his own ears.

“It’s okay,” Emily said, but her voice was flat. She rolled onto her side, facing away from him. “I’m tired, anyway.”

Greg lay awake long after her breathing had deepened into sleep, staring at the ceiling and wondering how things had gotten so broken.

He thought about canceling the sessions with Tyler, about finding her a female trainer instead.

But then he remembered the light in Emily’s eyes today, the way she’d looked more alive than she had in months.

How could he take that away from her? What kind of husband would that make him?

A selfish one, he decided. And whatever else he might be, Greg refused to be selfish. Even if it meant watching his wife slip away from him, one training session at a time.

Three weeks into Emily’s training regimen, and Greg couldn’t ignore the changes.

Her body was becoming more defined, her posture more confident.

She wore clothes that accentuated her new muscle tone—tank tops that showed off her shoulders, leggings that hugged every curve.

She carried herself differently, too, walking with a new awareness of her physical presence.

At home, Emily had started preparing healthier meals, measuring her protein intake, drinking gallons of water.

She downloaded fitness apps, followed exercise influencers on Instagram, bought supplements that promised increased energy and muscle recovery.

Their bathroom counter, once dominated by her perfumes and creams, now housed pre-workout powders and BCAAs.

Greg continued to accompany her to the gym, settling into his now-familiar spot on the equipment opposite where Tyler trained her. Today, they were working on deadlifts, Tyler standing close behind Emily, his hands occasionally guiding her hips into proper position.

“Keep your back straight,” Tyler instructed, one hand on her lower back. “That’s it. Now drive through your heels.”

Emily executed the move perfectly, setting the weight down with a satisfied exhale.

“You’re a natural,” Tyler said, and Emily’s smile was radiant.

Greg watched as Tyler increased the weight, adding another ten pounds to each side of the bar. Emily looked uncertain.

“I don’t know if I can lift that,” she said.

“You can,” Tyler assured her, his voice low and confident. “Trust me.”
