Hot, sweaty bodies crashed against each other.

Mel’s blonde hair was matted against her forehead as she lay on her back, staring up at the ceiling.

Her legs were wrapped around Jack’s waist as all the hard angles of his body slammed into her.

Mel’s mind was twisted in an intoxicating mess of delight and delirium.

A deep feeling of pleasure and passion flowed through her and enraptured every single part of her.

It felt as though her body was on fire and, sharp moans burst from her mouth.

She shuddered and shook as the weight of Jack’s body crushed her.

His face was twisted in sweet anguish as he plunged himself into her over and over again, his biceps swelling, his heart thumping.

He wrapped her up in his arms, and she could feel the warmth scorching her.

It was such a sweet thing to lose herself in the heat of his body, to let go and surrender to him completely.

She glanced down, and in the shadowlands between their bodies, she could see where they connected.

She could feel the arousal sliding inside her, reaching her soul.

Oh, it was glorious. Oh, it was wonderful.

Oh, she wanted more and more and more. The pleasure built up inside her like a rising tide.

With every thrust, she sank deeper into the bed, as though she was being drilled down into its soft, welcoming abyss.

And yet, at the same time, she was floating, ascending to another plane where she was surrounded by radiant, crackling energy that made her feel more alive than she had ever been before.

Her mind cracked, and she could feel the sweet bliss approaching. Rays of sunlight touched her as it crept over the horizon.

But then, just as she was about to feel its warmth, she sensed Jack shudder and tremble.

Every part of him tensed. A guttural moan shot out and crashed against the nape of her neck.

He buried his head against her, and she could feel the hot breath pouring out at the same time as all his lust exploded inside her, seeping into all the most intimate parts of her.

Yet, while he cried out, “Yes …Yes!” she thought, No … Oh God, no, not again …

Mel was left with a hollow feeling inside. She had been on the crest of a wave, on the edge of a cliff, all ready to topple down into the sweet succor of orgasm, but once again, she was stopped from experiencing that wonderful release at the wrong, the impossible, moment.

Anguish formed a tight knot in the pit of her stomach as Jack rolled off her, coated in happiness.

But while he was smiling with a look of wonder upon his face, Mel was shaking her head, feeling the world closing in on her.

It had all been so close, and yet it remained elusive.

The frustration built up inside her and had nowhere to go, so it balled like a tight fist in her gut, gnawing at her like a parasite.

“That was amazing,” Jack said in awe. He brushed his lips against Mel’s, seeming in awe of what he had accomplished, but Mel was left wanting.

How could it be that two people could share something so intimate yet have completely different outcomes?

It didn’t seem fair. She wondered if there was something wrong with her because no man had been able to make her climax.

Jack was just the latest in a long line of men to try and fail, and to leave her wanting more.

It was unfair of her to blame them all when she was the one constant, but what else was she to do?

Pleasuring herself could only go so far. Was she just broken?

Jack slipped away to sleep easily, while she was left awake, gazing up at the ceiling. She was even too frustrated to thrust her hand down between her thighs and make herself feel good.

All the lusting energy that had built up inside her had nowhere to go.

It rested inside her and made it impossible for her mind to calm.

How she wished she could be different. How she wished she could be normal.

How she wished she could feel the release of orgasm.

It was the promise land, it was Eden, and it had always remained out of her grasp.

She had a lot of life left to live, but what was the point if she couldn’t climax?

“What do you want to do today?” Jack asked after he’d gotten up.

Mel had been awake for a while. In truth, she hadn’t really slept. She sat at the kitchen table with a cup of coffee and sunken eyes. Her face was pale, and her hair formed a veil around her face. She felt ugly. She felt useless. She felt frustrated.

“Jack, we need to talk.” Her voice was heavy with emotion.

Jack tried to make a joke of it, mocking how those words never led to anything good, before realization crept in.

“What’s wrong?” He looked shocked, as though the ground had been pulled up from underneath him.

“What we had has run its course.”

“What? No. Come on, Mel. Why would you say that? Things are just getting started. Last night was amazing. How can you say that after what we shared?”

“I don’t think we shared the same thing,” Mel sighed, running a hand through her hair.

“It’s not you; it’s me. I mean that. I just …

there are certain things I want, and I’m not sure you can give them to me,” she said, trying to be as diplomatic as possible.

But Jack wasn’t in the mood to be diplomatic.

She had stabbed him in the heart of his pride, where all men were most vulnerable.

He yelled at her, and threw up his arms, and paced around the room. And she sat there, numb to it all. She had heard it all before—how she was frigid and cold as ice, how she was the cause of the problem, not them. Oh no, it was never them.

Mel let him tire himself out until he marched away and slammed the door behind him, leaving her in solitude.

It would have been easier to lie and put up with it, to live in hope that one day it would all be better and she would be able to feel what she dreamed of feeling.

But she also knew she would be deluding herself.

She had walked down that road before and wasn’t about to make the same mistake again, the mistake of giving herself to another person in the hope that they could complete her, when she only ended up wanting more.

It always ended the same way, with two people at war, fighting over something that could never be resolved, and she ended up alone and unfulfilled.

The story was getting old, though. There were only so many times that she could live it, and it was getting to the point where she was tired, so tired.

She was only in her mid-twenties. Her breasts were still pert, her hair lustrous, her skin supple and soft …

She was in the prime of her life, and she was supposed to be enjoying the freedom of the world, yet it felt as though she was in a prison.

A prison of her own making, to be sure; a prison where her emotions would always be locked inside.

“So, when am I going to meet Jack?” Carly asked as she and Mel met up for one of their regular lunches. They had been best friends since high school, but where Carly had ended up happily married, Mel had been cast into the wilderness.

Carly had grown well into life. At school, she had been slightly awkward and skittish, but over the years, she had grown more confident, a lot of which had to do with her marriage to Jim.

Jim had always been a loner at school, more interested in gadgets and experiments than anything else. Carly and Jim had been lab partners one week, and from there, romance bloomed. Mel wished that she had had it so easy.

“You’re not going to,” Mel replied, her words laced with frustration.

“Oh Mel,” Carly said with the disappointment of a parent. “What happened this time?”

“Just the same thing as all the other times. We weren’t compatible.”

“Mel, you always use that reason. Are you sure you’re giving these men a fair chance? Maybe you just need a bit more time with them. Love can take a while to develop.”

Mel offered a sardonic smile. “It’s not love that’s the problem.”

Carly tilted her head and looked at her blankly for a moment before realization came upon her face. “Oh … that’s still an issue?”

“Yeah,” Mel said. “And I know you might think it’s stupid, but this kind of thing is important to me.

I can’t go the rest of my life feeling that I’m a failure or that I’m missing out on something special.

There has to be one man out there who I can feel complete with, unless this is just something that’s wrong with me. ”

“I can’t believe that. It’s a natural part of human life. There can’t just be something wrong with you. I suppose it’s possible that you have some kind of mental block, but you’re right. You shouldn’t have to deal with this. If something isn’t working, you have every right to change it up.”

“I just don’t know what I’m going to do, though. It seems as though every relationship I have is plagued with the same issues. What can I do? Have you and Jim ever had these problems?”

“No … but that’s not to say that everything has always been perfect between us. Every relationship has its troubles and none is very perfect. But I guess this is a very important part of a relationship.”

“Yeah.” Mel had confided her troubles and struggles to Carly many times over the years.

Carly had always been supportive, but there were only so many suggestions she could offer.

Eventually, there was a point of no return, and Mel was starting to think that she could reach it.

“I just … when I think of dating someone else, I just get so tired. I feel like it’s all pointless because it’s only going to end up as a disappointment.

Maybe it’s becoming something of a self-fulfilling prophecy, but I’m just so tired of getting my hopes up only to be left disappointed. ”
