Chapter 16 - Rosalie
SIXTEEN
ROSALIE
Ilay in my bed that night, staring at the ceiling. The guys had spent the after-dinner hours working on safety issues with Enzo’s men, while Jamie and I caught up on things.
She’d gone to bed an hour ago, and now there I was, alone with my thoughts.
I grabbed my phone off my nightstand and went to my messages to Anson. We hadn’t spoken since I’d called him last week, asking him who he was marrying.
I had no idea if he was even going to come to the party tomorrow.
I bit my lip, my thumb hovering over the call button. Finally, I just hit it and squeezed my eyelids closed tightly.
“LeeLee,” Anson’s deep voice came on the line. “What’s wrong?”
“N-Nothing,” I said. “I’m fine. I was just in bed, thinking about you.” I winced. Damnit. That came out wrong.
I hadn’t really thought he’d answer my call after everything. God knew we barely spoke lately.
“Yeah?” he asked, his voice a low rumble that did something to my heart. “You sure you’re OK?”
“I am. I’m fine. I, uh, I was just wondering if you were coming to the party tomorrow.” I held my breath, waiting for his answer.
“Uh, LeeLee, look—”
“It’s OK,” I managed to say. “I know things are weird between us. I-I just didn’t know if I should expect you or not. My dad and-and mom aren’t coming either.”
“I’m sorry,” he said gently.
I wiped quickly at my eyes. “It’s fine. I thought I’d ask, I guess.”
“I hope tomorrow is amazing, LeeLee. Truly. I want that for you. Be safe, OK? The first sign that something is off, I want you to leave. Promise?”
“Yes,” I whispered. “Promise.”
“Enzo has loads of men, right?”
“Yeah. He has tons. He hired some new guys, too. We should be fine.”
“Good. Uh, I guess I’ll talk to you later.”
“Right. Bye, Ani.”
“Bye, Rosalie.”
The call disconnected, and I cried softly. I wasn’t so sure why I felt like my heart was shredded. I was the one who told him no. But telling him yes meant so many more awful, impossible things.
I really hated myself for what I was feeling. I felt unfaithful having these feelings, and that wasn’t the girl I was.
Quickly, I wiped at my eyes and forced the tears to stop.
This was my life. I chose my guys. I wouldn’t waver on it. I was in, just like they were.
No more tears.
Anson was done. I’d put him into that position. I wanted the world for him, and to have that, I needed to step back.
“Rosie?” Fox’s soft voice called out. “Baby? You OK?”
I hadn’t even heard him come into my room.
“Uh, yeah. Yeah, I’m fine.” I wiped quickly at my eyes.
He slid into bed next to me in only his pajama bottoms and wrapped me in his arms.
“Talk to me,” he murmured.
“How do you know when I need you the most?” I whispered.
“Because you’re my Rosie, and I’m your Foxy,” he answered softly.
I exhaled. “I talked to Anson. He’s not coming tomorrow.”
“I figured,” he said gently. “But that’s OK, baby. You’ll have us.”
“I know. I guess I thought…” I let my voice trail off.
“You told him no,” he said. “You let him go. He’s trying to find himself. He’ll be back. He still gives a damn.”
I said nothing as I nestled against him. He was right. Anson needed time. If I cared about him at all, I’d give him that. This was for the best.
Fox cleared his throat. “Tomorrow is a big day. Are you nervous?”
“Only worried about getting through it. Enzo knows all those horrible, gross men from the New Year’s party. I’m not looking forward to seeing them. Plus, I’m scared something bad might happen.”
“Don’t put those ugly vibes into the world.” He kissed my forehead fiercely. “I won’t let anything happen to you. I’d die to ensure you’re safe.”
“I’d rather you didn’t.”
“You know I would.”
We were quiet for a moment. I knew he would, and I hated that he’d make such a sacrifice. I knew I’d do it for him, too, though.
“Fox? Are you OK? I’m worried about you.”
“I’m fine, baby. Just stressed. I don’t like this shit any more than you do, but I’m trying to be positive.”
I swallowed. I knew that already.
“Rosie?”
Yeah?”
“If I ever did have to run away, would you really run with me?”
I pulled away long enough to look into his eyes through the moonlight streaming into my room before I brushed my lips against his.
“I will always choose you, Foxy,” I whispered. “Does that make me bad?”
“It makes you always mine, Rosie. Forever.” His lips met mine in a sweet, gentle kiss that made butterflies come to life. Within minutes, we were both naked beneath the covers, exploring one another’s bodies.
“Fuck, you’re so wet, baby,” he husked out.
“For you,” I rasped.
“I love it. So fucking much.” He pushed a finger deep inside my pussy, making me moan softly against his lips. “Fuck, baby. I love how your body reacts to me. Made for me. Every inch of you.”
“Please,” I choked out as he slowly fucked me with his finger. “Please, I need you.”
“What do you need?”
“You. I need you inside me. Please, Foxy. Please fuck me.”
“Oh, Rosie. I could never deny you a single thing.” He rolled me onto my back and pushed himself deep into my body, making me arch against him, his name on my lips.
He made love to me like that for a long time, his strokes into my body deep and even, before he went up on his knees and gripped my hips tightly.
Gently, he lifted me and pushed deeper into my pussy, hitting a spot inside me that made my eyes roll back.
“Fuck, you feel so good,” he groaned, his dick pushing against that spot on repeat. I pushed back against him, making his moan louder and causing his hands to tremble on my hips.
I wasn’t sure what he was hitting inside me, but it was going to make me come.
“Oh fuck, baby. Fuck,” he hissed, his pace never changing as he continued his work on me. “Rosie, baby.”
I came hard and fast, my body arching off the mattress as I nearly exploded into a million tiny bits. The euphoria and pleasure pumping through my body made me almost convulse.
Fox let out a low groan, his cock twitching deep inside me, his breathing heavy, my name on his lips.
He finally slowed and lay me gently back onto the mattress.
“Fuck, Rosie. I think that might have gotten through your birth control,” he said, chuckling softly. “Cole is going to be so pissed it was me who put a baby inside your belly first.”
I smirked up at him, feeling satisfied.
He leveled himself over me, his lips brushing gently against mine in soft kisses.
“I will never get enough of you. My girl. I love you so fucking much, Rosalie. Never forget that.”
“I love you, too,” I answered thickly as I raked my fingers through his hair. He closed his eyes, practically purring beneath my touch.
“Mm, baby.” He kissed me again before rolling off and dragging me into his arms. “Forever, Rosie. No matter what.”
“Promise?” I held my pinky out to him.
He chuckled at that before hooking his with mine. “Just like third grade, when I promised to give you my pudding cup every day for the entire year. Yes, baby. I promise.”
I smiled at the old memory. “You’ll always come back to me, no matter what?”
“Always. I swear it. No matter what.” He kissed my temple fiercely as I lay in his strong arms.
I believed him. Foxy never lied.
I went to sleep feeling a little bit better, but that was just how Fox was. He always fixed things.
