Chapter Sixteen Whip

During the birth

After I gave the bags to the nurse I went to the waiting room to sit and you know wait.

I hate this, not being able to be there for my woman in the way I want to.

I should be in there with her holding her hand.

She has to be fucking scared, fuck I’m scared.

I feel like it’s too fucking early for this.

I know Knox told me that the doctor had suggested she schedule a c-section at 35 to ensure a safe delivery for all four of them, but what happens when she goes into labor at 32 weeks?

I decided I probably should call her family, let them know what is going on and take that off Knox’s todo list. I don’t want them to have to worry about what is happening. I pull up the contact and it rings once before it connects.

“Hey Whip, how’s my girl?”

“Well I just wanted to call you and let you know her water broke. So we are at the hospital.”

“Twister did call me, he said she told him to give me a call, we are buying some plane tickets to head your way. Do you know how she’s doing?”

“No, she wasn’t comfortable with me in the room, so I’m out in the waiting room. Waiting to hear anything. Sorry I can’t be more help, I did want to let you know she is here though in case you wanted to head Dow here.”

“Yeah, thank you so much, son. Tillie, Davis and I will hopefully be there late tonight or early tomorrow morning depending on a flight. You take care of her and try not to worry. Our girl is strong and we know these babies will be too.”

“You're right, Papa J. I’ll take care of our girl, don’t worry. I’ll keep you posted on what’s going on. Let me know when you are about to leave and when you land. I’ll see if Grim can send a prospect or something to pick you guys up. I know the airport is still an hour away from here.”

“Thanks son, love you.”

“Love you too, be safe.”

Bulldog is truly a strong man. It’s been a month since his wife passed and I know he’s struggling, but he is trying to keep it together the best he can for his kids and everyone else around him.

I look up to the man I always have. He’s been the father that I wish my father was.

I know that if it weren’t for Evan and me refusing to leave him with those people, he would’ve gotten me out of that home sooner than I was out.

I know being here and seeing these babies without Missy is going to be a struggle for him.

These are the first grandbabies born after Missy died, so there will be a lot of feelings for everyone involved.

I pick up my phone and dial my best friend next.

“Hey Coop! How’s it going? Wasn’t expecting to hear from you so soon.”

I go and take a seat and put my head in my hand while the other holds my phone to my ear.

“Peyton’s in labor.”

“Really?!? No way! Isn’t she early? Is everything okay?”

I take a deep breath, “Fuck man, I don’t know. I feel fucking useless. I’m out here in the waiting room because she doesn’t trust me enough to be back there when she is vulnerable. I have no idea what the hell is going on.

Knox had told me that the doctor had her schedule a c-section at 35 weeks because that is the safest way to deliver the triplets. But I don’t know what happens when her water breaks and I don’t know what happens when she’s 32 weeks pregnant, brother.

It’s killing me and I know it’s my own damn fault because I fucking pushed her to this. But fuck. How the hell am I supposed to sit here while she’s back there giving birth?”

“You lean on your brothers, we’ve got you.”

“Yeah that would be easier if you were fucking here, Tanner.”

“I might not be there, but you’ve got Untamed. I’m sure some of those assholes will be showing up in no time because it’s Peyton. I also heard that Cannon left showed up there. So you’re not alone. You’ve just got to be strong, Coop. Everything is going to work out.

I know that you hate when shit is out of control and you don’t know what is going on, I mean who doesn’t. But I do know that you are going to prove to Peyton that you are a man she can rely on. That you are the man she knew you were before you fucked everything up.

So just keep it positive and prove to her that this can work. That’s all she needs, she needs you to do the opposite of all you did before. Open up to her, be there for her. I feel really happy knowing that my sister doesn’t have one great man looking after her, but she has two.

I’m sure my dad is grateful too.”

“Thanks, brother. Really. I appreciate all of this. I talked to your dad and he’s headed down this way. Hope you’ll be able to make the trip too.”

“I don’t know if I’ll be able to or not there is a lot of shit we are dealing with. But I’ll keep you posted. Give her my love. Stay strong, brother.”

With that he hangs up and I put my head in my hands. A few minutes later I feel a hand on my shoulder and I look up to see Twister.

“Any news?”

I shake my head and see that he came with an army of people, Domino and Isabella are of course with him, but the rest are the Untamed men. I hate it when Thorn’s big ass is right.

“Well, I brought a bunch of people who are going to wait with us. I know you want to be in there with her, brother, but we are all going to be here for you and for them. I know how much you’re struggling with not being able to be in there right now, but it’s going to be alright.”

I look around at all the Untamed that are there and if I didn’t know that this wasn’t everybody, I would assume it was.

Grim and Valkyrie are here with Reaper, Rogue and Ravage.

Then Riot, Flare are here with Inferno and Blaze.

Of course Hawk and Echo are here with all of their kids, Ivy, Hunter and Avery.

Ghost and Storm are here and the list just goes on and on.

They are all seated, waiting and watching the doors for any news.

What feels like hours, Knox comes out. He’s dressed in scrubs and I find that odd because last I knew she was in a labor and delivery room. I stand up as he walks over.

“Hey, thanks everybody for coming. When we got here we were brought to a labor and delivery room where the doctor came and talked to Peyton about the options and the safest way to deliver the babies for her and for the babies.

So it was decided that Peyton would undergo a c-section.

They got her prepped while they gave me a change of clothes and we went to the operating room.

She had the triplets and she basically made me leave to go sit with the babies.

Which I am supposed to be doing right now, but I hate that she is alone, so I wanted to give everyone an update that Peyton is fine and has been brought back to one of the rooms on the maternity floor.

The babies are in the NICU where I have been told they are more than likely going to be staying for the next 22 days.

They were born a little too early and are very small.

We’ve got Rowan Knox Miller, he was 4 lbs and 2 oz.

Then there was our sweet baby girl who looked to have some lighter fuzz on her head was Rebel Skye Miller, she was 3 lbs and 7 oz.

Then we had our big guy Ronan Colt Miller, he was 4 lbs and 5 oz and 16.5 inches long.

They don’t want a lot of people back in the NICU for the time being and even when they let more people back there it is going to be in groups of two to not overwhelm anyone.

So I wanted to see if Whip here wanted to come back with me first and then go check on our girl because I am worried about her being alone and she instructed me that I must stay with the babies because she won’t be able to see them for a while.”

My throat feels like it is tightening up and all I can do is nod.

I don’t really understand what any of this means, but I know that I need to go see these babies and then go check on my woman.

So Knox leads me back behind the doors and goes to the nurse asking her if she can make another bracelet for me that states I am a father to the three babies that they just had.

They do give us a little bit of a look, but then they do as asked.

They place a hospital bracelet on my wrist and tell me that this will let everyone know that the babies are mine and I am free to see them and whatnot.

I’m having a really hard time listening because all of this is a lot.

Just earlier tonight we were arguing about what we were going to be doing when we moved and how much Peyton still was dragging her feet at the idea of me being there with them.

I follow behind Knox as he gets towards the NICU.

“So you've got to wash your hands and put on a gown. Then we can go in and see our babies. Maybe take a bunch of pictures and videos so you can show Peyton. I already sent her a few, that’s why I want you to go sit with her.”

“Why wouldn’t you just let me sit with the babies while you go and sit with Pey?”

“Because she wants me here with them and I think having you will be good for this family. Having you there will be good for her.”

I nod my head and we walk towards three little incubators and three tiny little lives that are going to change mine forever.
