Chapter Twenty Whip
Today is the day we finally arrive at the Untamed clubhouse in Briarfield, to say I was glad to be back in Virginia is an understatement.
I’m glad I will be home and close to my brothers again.
I will miss the atmosphere in Devil’s Hollow, but I am glad that I will be able to see my buddies at the clubhouse again.
Being a half an hour away isn’t completely ideal, but it is better than in a different state.
We pulled up to the clubhouse early this morning, all the brothers on their bikes leading in the prospects in the moving vehicles and Peyton in our SUV.
I’m sure people around town are very curious about what is going on.
I know that Knox has been here with several brothers when he came to check on the progress of everything, but not this many at once.
We pull up to the gate and Knox gets off his bike and keys in the code for the gate.
It opens and we all proceed in. Knox takes off down another side road I know towards the house, so I follow.
Peyton follows behind us as well. With everything that has gone on lately we haven’t talked at all about what is going on with all of us.
Peyton hasn’t said one way or another if she forgives me.
She kind of just seems like she has been going with the flow.
I know she had a doctor's appointment before we left and to see if she was cleared or not.
She hasn’t really told us about how that went.
Coming up to the house, I am excited for us to start our life here.
I will give it to Knox. He really did a great job designing this house.
I know I chipped in and told him some things that I thought would be awesome to have in the house, so I am excited to see how it all turned out.
We pull up to a house that sits slightly away from any of the other homes that have been built on the property, far enough away that engines and late night noise doesn't bleed into any bedtimes or naptimes.
It’s on the edge of the land close to where you can see a fence and another driveway.
I gave him that idea. I liked the way that Sophie and Lash had a separate entrance to their home so they didn’t have to go through the main gate all the time.
They had a security entrance leading to their drive that had a code only they knew.
The house is backed by trees and is facing open land.
The house is large and to me that is good because I think that after these three babies we will be adding more to our home.
It has a stone foundation and dark timber framing.
There is a wide wraparound porch and tall windows to pull in light without exposing the inside.
There is space all around it. A yard for the kids to play when they are old enough, a gravel drive that is wide enough for multiple vehicles.
He has a detached garage and a workshop, which is great for me to work on bikes or cars if I want.
One thing Peyton had said she wanted was gardens so she could plant fruits and vegetables, so Knox gave her that.
There is also room for any additions we may need to add on to the house in the future.
I park my bike and hop off, heading towards the SUV to help Peyton get the triplets out of the vehicle. All of the sudden the moving truck pulls up and another vehicle behind it. Knox starts walking over to me and pats me on the back.
“My parents are taking the triplets for the night to give us some time to set up the house and give us some alone time.” He smirks at me as he opens the door to Peyton’s SUV.
Peyton gets out and looks behind us with a confused look on her face, I guess she didn’t know they were in our traveling party either.
“What’s going on, Knox? Why are your parents here?”
Knox removes one of the baby seats from the car and sets it down on the ground next to it.
“They are going to take the triplets, I know that they are only a couple months old, but we are going to have some time to ourselves and get the house set up. They are here to help so that I can get the club up and running as well as making sure the house is set up for us.
I have some furniture already set up there, but obviously we need to unpack. Plus we want to get shit done before we have them here. They are going to be staying in our suite in the clubhouse. You’ve got finals, so this is going to help too.
We want to make sure everything is good before we have to fly back for your graduation next month. It is great that your professors have allowed you to submit your finals online, but I want to make sure you have time to focus. So we obviously will be seeing the babies all the time,
mom and dad won’t be watching them all the time. We are not neglectful parents, but this way we have some help til everything calms down for a little while.”
Peyton looks at him, then me. “Did you know about this?”
I am pulling out Rebel from the car, “No, baby, I didn’t know. It’s all news to me. But honestly, it will be nice to have some help while we adjust. Your dad right now is a half an hour away and he’s back on the hunt for the twins. So having Knox’s folks here will be helpful.”
“But I don’t know about them staying away from us tonight, they are babies. They are brand new. Isn’t it too early to have a night away?”
Knox walks up to her and pulls her to him, “Baby, we need ‘us’ time too. It doesn’t make it wrong. The babies will be fine, my mama and dad raised four babies as well. Everything is going to be okay. It is okay to take some time for yourself. Plus once they leave, Pey,
we will have to figure out a way to have them taken care of once you start med school and you told me you wanted to get a job at the hospital here for a foot in the door while you work on your medical degree. So right now we need to take this time for ourselves too.
Getting the house set up for the babies is a good thing. We will see them in the morning. I stocked the fridge and the freezer in our room with breast milk the last time I was here.”
“Well you’ve just thought of everything.” Peyton grumbled.
I chuckled as I reached in and grabbed Ronan.
I looked up and the prospect was handing Knox the keys to the large moving truck we had and Hawk and Echo were grabbing Rowan’s carseat.
I then took Rebel and Ronan’s carseats to their car to help them situate the babies’ seats in the car.
Hawk and Echo nod their heads at me and hop in their car and head out.
The prospect had already left and was walking back towards the clubhouse.
I know Knox said that he made rooms for the prospects to share at the clubhouse and we really only brought a couple of prospects from the club back in Devil's Hollow.
The ones that didn’t have any family to stay for.
Peyton’s phone rings as I get close to her and she lifts it checking to see who it is. When she answers it she has a smile on her face.
“Hey daddy. How are you doing?”
There is a pause and the longer Bulldog talks the more defeated Peyton looks. Her shoulders begin to drop and the smile that was on her face vanished. Knox and I step forward to be close to her and whatever is happening, we let her know that we will be here for her.
“Yeah, okay. No, thank you for telling me.”

Pause.
“She hasn’t talked to me, no. Well thanks for telling me, um we just got to the house. So I’m going to go. I’ll call you later, okay?”
Pause.
“Yeah, I love you too.”
With that she hangs up the phone and just stares at it before placing it back in her pocket.
“What’s going on Peyton?” I ask her.
She looks up at me, then looks at Knox.
“Well that was my dad, as I’m sure you gathered. He wanted to tell me that Parker is going to be moving to Massachusetts. She got into an Ivy there and wants to go there for law school. He told me that she's found a house that she bought to live in while she’s there.
He’s helping her move this weekend.”
I put my hand on her back and rub circles trying to comfort her, while Knox is standing in front of her and places his hands on her cheeks.
“She hasn’t reached out?” He asks her.
Peyton shakes her head, “No and you know what I hate, I hate the fact that she hasn’t even reached out about the triplets to see how they are.
I haven’t heard anything. It’s like I left there and moved to stay in North Carolina and she shut me out.
I feel like a part of myself is missing.
She has always been there for me through all the big moments.
She missed the triplets' birth, she’s going to miss my graduation and she didn’t even tell me when hers was.
If she is even walking. I think I’m going to go inside and call Liza, see if she knows anything.
Then maybe conference Rose. If anybody knows anything it is going to be those two.”
I nod my head and bend down to kiss the side of her head and Knox moves and places a kiss on her lips.
We move out of the way and let her go inside to find a place to sit.
We were looking forward to seeing the house together, but right now she needs to figure out some of what is going on with Parker.
Not that going away to school is a bad thing, it’s just she’s still not talking to Peyton and her moving away should not have caused this big of a rift in their relationship.
“You think she’s going to be okay? From what Peyton has told me they have never fought like this before and never gone this long without talking.”
“Growing up they would fight, I mean they are different people. I mean fuck they aren’t identical even. So they have very different personalities. Peyton was always the one that acted on impulse and Parker is the one that thinks things through. They would fight,
but it never lasted longer than an hour before the one was coming back joking with the other. I have to believe there is more going on with Parker and honestly I think that more started over spring break. I know I fucked up on that trip, but I think if what I have heard is true,
then I’m thinking someone else did too.”
Knox looks at me confused, “Who else could’ve fucked up? You guys only sent two guys down with them and it was you and Doc. He had time off at the hospital. Parker really didn’t spend a lot of time with any of the brothers other than her cousins while she was there.
So what possibly could’ve happened to put her in this place with Peyton?”
I looked at him, surprised that Peyton didn’t say anything to Knox about Parker’s feelings for Doc.
“Listen, I just know what I’ve heard from some of the brothers. I was surprised when I was asked to go to North Carolina with them and I was even more surprised when Doc was. A lot of the brothers noticed how the twins were around both of us and how there were crushes.
Bulldog didn’t know at the time that Peyton and I had been sleeping together, I think he would’ve killed me if he found out. Parker had a long withstanding crush on Doc. Now Doc is 31 years old and the same age as Terror. They grew up together.
Now I have my issues about my past and shit with how all that went down and why I was not good enough for Peyton, but Doc, he isn’t going to want to step on Terror’s toes. Plus the age gap shit matters to him. He has a bigger stick up his ass about that shit than anyone I know.
He doesn’t want to piss off his president. So I don’t know if something happened with them on spring break, I always thought he wouldn’t go there because he wasn’t interested.”
“Well, that’s interesting. I kind of want to know what the hell is going on because it’s hurting Peyton and honestly really fucked up of her to not reach out to see the kids.”
I had to agree with him there, it was fucked up. I’ve known Parker a long time and her nieces and nephews meant the world to her. So something was going on and I hope that we figured it out soon so that Peyton and Parker could get back to what they had shared before.
