Madly #3

“I’m sorry that shit ended up like this.

You didn’t deserve it,” she said walking down the steps.

“But I don’t deserve the situation I’m in either.

I was a good wife that made a mistake. I was a good cop that was so dedicated I forgot I was playing a role.

My intentions were not to hurt anyone. I love you and I wish you the best, and if I’ve never said it, I’m so sorry. ”

“Yeah, me, too.” Darnell shut the door to his rig.

The two walked off in different directions.

Nisha snickered to herself as she pulled out of the parking lot.

She was lying to herself about rekindling anything with Darnell.

He wanted to erase everything that was negative to their marriage.

She couldn’t do that. Boom was the best thing that ever happened to her.

She wouldn’t forget him and she’d make sure that his only daughter knew who he was.

TINA’S HOUSE | 10:00 A.M.

“Tina, Tina,” Prissy whispered, knocking at Tina’s bedroom door.

She let herself in when she didn’t get a response. She and Tina locked eyes. The knocking and calling of her name hadn’t woken her but the sound of her door opening had.

“What time is it?” Tina glanced at the clock.

“Fuck.” She jumped out of the bed. A titty fell from her nightgown and she had to readjust.

“The party decorator called me when she couldn’t get in touch with you. I rushed over here, thinking maybe something was wrong.”

“I just didn’t get any sleep, fooling with Nene’s ass.” Tina sucked her teeth, leaning over the counter in her master bathroom.

“What happened?” Prissy stood in the doorway; arms folded across her chest.

“She snuck out last night. I noticed around twelve something that her ass wasn’t in here. I called her and she said she was making her way home. You know that bitch didn’t walk in this door until four in the morning.”

“How far away was she?” Prissy asked.

“Exactly.” Tina turned the water on and began washing her face.

“Said she was at the emergency room, and they were releasing her when I called. Something is up with that bitch. When you go back to work, I need you to put in a good word with that Dr. Johnson. If I can’t keep my eyes on her, at least you can.

I could be wrong, but I’m usually not. It’s some weird shit going on. ”

“Yeah, I’ma keep my eyes and ears open. I’m going to go pick up the cake and hid birthday gift, you want me to take her with me?” Prissy asked.

“Why are you just now getting Carmell a gift?” Tina asked, annoyed.

“I been got it. It’s paid for. The store had to ship it in.” Prissy snickered.

“Oh, yeah. Take her ass with you and have her get something for Carmell, and Khyell too. We can introduce her to Jakia. Her kids will be the boys’ sister, and I just know that’s fitna piss her off.

“Great idea. I’ll be back.”

“Wait a minute, before you go, what do you know about Cassidy? Did Hussein introduce y’all?”

“She kind of introduced herself. When I was parking Hussein’s truck, she called talking about some money she was supposed to pick up from him. We exchanged numbers and I met up with her.”

“And then what?” Tina asked.

“I put the money in her hand?” Prissy asked, unsure. “I’m not sure what you asking, TT. I gave her the money and that was it. Why is something wrong?”

“Her people looking for her is all. You’re the last point of contact, so I was just checking.”

“I don’t know shit about that.”

“I believe you. If anyone approaches you talking bout that shit, you tell them come see me.”

“Ard.” She nodded before slipping down the hall to Nisha’s bedroom. “Ride with me.” Prissy said, knocking at Nisha’s door.

“Ten minutes,” Nisha called out.

It felt more like thirty minutes as she sat waiting in the living room. Prissy felt like she wasn’t supposed to be there. Tina said she believed her, but it wouldn’t be her last time asking about it. She and Nisha were on the watch list, now.

“Where we going?” Nisha came down with black leggings, a striped black and white spaghetti strap and some crocs that matched her crossbody bag.

“Don’t matter, let’s go.” Prissy rushed out of the house.

Nisha almost fell down the steps, slipping on one trying to keep up with a scared ass Prissy. The engine was rolling before Nisha could get in the car. The second Nisha shut the door, Prissy pulled off like they were being chased.

“Bitch, what the fuck is wrong with you.”

“Prissy is asking me about Cassidy. Hussein left me a voicemail with a lie to feed her. He doesn’t want to talk about it over the phone, but when we have an opportunity to talk, he’s going to want to know what the fuck happened.

You said you only needed one thing. I did that, but now I’m roped into every lie you’ve told as well.

Cassidy’s family needs a body so they can have closure and stop asking fucking questions. ”

“A body with a bullet wound is just more questions, but I already took care of it. Overheard Tina talking to Senior. To be the fiancé of a gangsta, you sure don’t know shit about the streets.”

“Hussein is not a fucking gangsta. He’s just a nigga from the hood that don’t play about his family, his respect, or his money. Underneath all the dead bodies, he’s a good nigga. You need to be gone before he gets home, he will sniff you out and then take you out.”

“I’m moving as fast as I can It’s not easy getting close to her. I thought when Boom’s baby, it’d get me in her vulnerable pocket, but damn if she ain’t thorough.”

“And you only made it harder for yourself by sneaking out last night. Where’d you have to go that was so important that you risked getting your head blown off?”

“Darnell wanted to talk.”

“Your ex-husband?” Nisha nodded. “You went to see the nigga that done already snitched on you once. I should’ve never done this stupid shit with you. You’re going to get me killed right with you.” Prissy sucked her teeth.

“You really gotta relax. It’s a good thing.

She doesn’t want to take her eye off me now.

Nothing but an opportunity for me to get closer to her.

I only need her to tell me her deepest, darkest secrets.

Or see her in the act. If I can get her to let me in the family business, I’d really have her ass then.

” Nisha was talking to herself at this point.

Prissy listened. She wanted to see how delusional the bitch was.

She was anxious. Her body wanted to make a run for it, but her head kept telling her she could never run far enough.

Tina needed to be dead for her to ever live a normal life.

If Hussein ever found out that she had a hand in Tina’s demise it would matter either way.

It all seemed more dangerous as it was playing out.

Prissy regretted ever involving herself because now she was in too deep.
