Prologue
Alex Rose has agreed to play Callum O’Leary’s game: win seven challenges of his choosing and walk away with a million dollars. Twenty-nine women have tried before her. None have won.
The catch? Every time Alex loses a game, she has to submit to one of Callum’s punishments. His punishments escalate, which is why no woman has ever won Callum’s game.
Callum doesn’t expect any woman to win, let alone Alex.
His desires are dark and twisted, which is why he plays these games.
As a self-made millionaire, Callum doesn’t need to entice women to go out with him.
They already throw themselves at him. He plays these games though, because it’s the only way for him to really get what he wants.
Which is to push women to their breaking points.
Alex has won five games so far.
Alex and Callum were both falling for each other.
And then something happened.
Callum caught Alex texting his co-founder, Trent, and then watched her lie about it to his face.
Callum felt betrayed. So without even giving Alex a chance to explain herself, he punished her. Brutally. Callum thought if he went hard enough on Alex, he’d scare her away and get her to quit the games.
He failed.
Alex sensed something was up. But she didn’t quit.
And that just made Callum more confused.
In fact, Callum’s started to wonder if maybe he had it all wrong. Maybe Alex didn’t betray him after all.
Alex even won the last game, but she came up with an excuse so Callum could punish her afterwards… which makes Callum think that maybe Alex does like him after all.
What Callum doesn’t know is that Alex has been texting Trent, but not for the reason Callum thinks.
Trent’s worried that Callum’s becoming soft because of Alex. According to Trent, investors are noticing.
It’s a big problem.
And Trent has the solution.
Trent knows Callum better than anyone. And he assures Alex that she can bring back Callum’s edge by flirting with other men.
In other words, Trent’s solution is for Alex to make Callum jealous.
Alex was skeptical of Trent’s plan at first… but she’s decided to go for it.
