Chapter 5
Lexi
Pulling out the takeout menu from the drawer, I picked up the phone and dialed the number for Ghouls. Not only were their pizzas banging, but I absolutely loved the aesthetic of the place. Even their menu was Halloween-themed.
“You’ve reached Ghouls Pizza. What horror can we delight you with tonight?” a perky girl said after answering the phone.
“Hello. I need a large Don’t Walk Alone with extra bacon.” I sounded bitchy, and I knew it wasn’t this poor girl’s fault, but I was still so agitated with what had happened on the app that I couldn’t hide it.
“S-sure! Is that everything?” she responded.
“Yep.”
“That’ll be eighteen ninety-nine. Can I get your card number?”
I read it off, and she told me it should be here within forty minutes.
“Thanks.”
With that, I hung up and grabbed a fresh bottle of merlot from the wine fridge. I poured an extra-full glass and made my way back out to the living room. It was a little cooler in the house now, so I walked over to my gas fireplace under the TV and turned it on. I always enjoyed watching the flames flicker and dance. Even in my coldest moments in life, lighting a candle or a fire always brought a smile to my face—thinking that something so delicate, which could be put out at any moment, shone so brightly in every dark situation. That thought had given me a lot of strength as I made my way through the world as a single young mother.
I heard my phone vibrate on the side table next to the couch, so I went and sat down, grabbing it. And my mood instantly soured.
A message from FreakishStrings.
Oh, hello, Mr. Turn On and Take Off. What could you want now?
FreakishStrings
Hey, baby girl. Sorry I dipped like that, but I’m here now. Finish where we left off?
“Are you shitting me?” I sat there, my mouth gaped as I read it again.
I couldn’t believe the nerve on FreakishStrings. First, he’d disappeared with no warning or explanation for a half hour after he just made me shove my fingers into my pussy. Then, he’d had the nerve to pop back like nothing had really happened.
If that’s the kind of girl he’s looking to mess around with—someone who just sits around like a doll, waiting for her puppet master to come back—he’s talking to the wrong woman.
I groaned as I angrily tapped my reply and hit Send. I closed the app and turned off notifications for it.
“You do not need a stupid, hot, annoying, entitled young man getting you pissed off the first night you’ve had alone in two months.”
I drank my glass of wine as I waited for my pizza to arrive. I should probably slow down a bit, but it would be fine as soon as I got some food in me. That would fix the slight buzz I had.
Suddenly, my doorbell rang. It was a deep, calming sound that carried around the house. I loved my custom doorbell.
I hopped up from my seat and walked over to the front door. Unlocking the knob, I swung the door open, only to be met by a looming shadow and a blast of wind and some rain splatter.
The man I saw in front of me sent shivers up my spine—in all the right ways. He was tall, and his abdomen looked tight, judging from the way his damp T-shirt clung to his torso. As I raked my eyes up his body to his face, my breath caught. He had the sexiest skeleton face paint I had ever seen—and trust me, I had a Pinterest board dedicated to gorgeous men in spooky makeup. Water dripped from the edge of his hood and his leather jacket, but all I could see were those gray eyes looking back at me.
Those have got to be contacts, right? Because there is no way someone like this actually exists.
My mind raced a bit as a smirk appeared on his face, and he lifted the pizza bag in his hand.
“A wicked delivery for Lexi?” he asked as he glanced over at the receipt in his hand.
After I said nothing, he tipped his head to the side, still waiting for a response.
I snapped out of my trance and nodded. “Yes. I’m sorry. Here, come in and get out of this rain for a minute while I go grab your tip.”
I moved aside as he took two steps in, filling up my spacious entryway. I closed the door and flashed him a smile.
“Be right back.”
With that, I disappeared down the hall and went into my bedroom, where my purse was. I pulled out my wallet and took a couple of deep breaths as I grabbed some cash for the tip.
Get it together, Lexi. You must be feeling that wine a lot more than you thought if the pizza delivery guy looks that fuckable. Just give him a tip and get back to your night.
But right as I turned to leave the bedroom, I caught sight of myself in the floor-length mirror in my room, and I about died from embarrassment. My bottoms had a very noticeable wet spot between my thighs on them and I have never been more thankful to have a dim entryway in my life. I quickly stripped out of them, sliding on some panties first just to be safe before grabbing another identical set of my bottoms and slipping them on.
This is where buying multiple pairs of the clothing I love comes in handy. No one will ever know.
I collected myself and then walked back out to the entryway, and I’d be damned if he didn’t look even hotter in the lighting of my house. I kept certain areas dimmer for ambiance through my home. Plus, the super-bright lights were really harsh on my eyes.
“I’m sorry for the wait. Here you go. Hope you stay dry out there. It’s getting really nasty out.” I held out a twenty toward him.
He threw his hood off, and his jet-black hair curled down his neck. It was a nice style for his whole sexy-skeleton look.
He tipped his head to the side, and his hair flopped around the sides of his face as he studied me. He slowly reached out and grabbed the twenty, putting it into an interior pocket of his leather jacket.
“Thanks, baby,” he said with a smirk and a wink.
Cue my pussy overflowing, soaking my panties.
I didn’t quite know what to say as he opened the pizza bag and pulled out the box. The lovely smell of a large pizza—topped with ranch, chicken, spinach, and bacon—filled the air, making my stomach growl. I blushed as I grabbed it from him.
“Well, thank you. Drive safe,” I said as I reached for the door.
Just as I twisted the knob, a loud crash sounded, and my power went out. I let out a startled yelp as I tripped over a pair of shoes by the door, but then a hand wrapped around my waist and grabbed the box from me.
