Chapter 18 #2

I pursed my lips. She wasn’t wrong but now I wondered if my theory was truly correct…

“What do you mean, unfamiliar world?”

She scoffed, placing her hand defiantly on her hip.

Her skin was a rich, sun-kissed bronze, as if she had spent countless hours under the blazing sun, yet her hair contrasted sharply, gleaming white like freshly fallen snow, mirroring the shade of my own.

There was an otherworldly essence about her, a blend of fae lineage intertwined with the enigmatic aura of the Duskhold Territory where we lived.

She mixed with an elusive element I couldn't quite identify.

Her eyes had me mesmerized. Like deep, endless pools that threatened to swallow me whole, pulling me into their depths. My anger dissipated under her captivating gaze, forcing me to tear my eyes away before I lost myself completely.

“I’m from earth, I’m human—”

“Lies,” I spat. “Oryx should have ripped you apart and drank you dry.” I couldn’t believe it.

The female leaned her hip against the table. Her skirt was short but her legs were hidden by a pair of tight pants. Her dark red sweater covered her breasts and dirty, vile things came into my head on what I truly wanted to see.

Had Oryx seen her naked? Had he really rutted her?

Jealousy then curiosity to watch popped into my head. I turned away and slapped my hand down my face.

Damn it.

“He didn’t. He was in such a rage he killed everyone else. I ran, but he said I smelled nice.” She sighed, and a smile curled at her lips.

She did smell nice but not enough for me to fuck her. Unfortunately the longer she was here, the less desire I had to kill her. She needed to leave.

“Get out.” I waved my hand away. “If you are here to disturb me, you have done your job. My relationship with Oryx is my own.”

She stomped her foot like a petulant child.

“I will not. You need to speak to him. He’s upset. He wants to get along with you and not have fear you will kill me. I want what’s best for him.”

She dares to claim she wants what's best for him? The audacity! She's barely known him, a fleeting acquaintance with zero understanding of his desires or needs. How can she presume to know him? I am the only one who truly understands the depths of his soul!

I spun around, and with a flick of my fingers, my magik coiled like a serpent around her throat, a shimmering, unseen force that maintained a careful distance between us.

The air felt charged, electric, as I held my breath, determined to avoid inhaling her intoxicating scent that always clouded my thoughts. Breathing was a conscious choice, an attempt to cling to some semblance of normalcy.

I backed her into the wall, she struggled in the invisible hold.

I snarled and pressed my face closer to hers. “You. Know. Nothing.”

I stared at her. She couldn’t speak, but she could breathe just enough. She was human, thats all she could be. Right? There wasn’t anything else special about her. How strange that Oryx did not drain her, feed off of her life force.

The longer I held her, the warmth of her body radiated into me, consuming me.

My desire surged, straining against the confines of my trousers, and I inhaled her intoxicating scent with a greedy desperation.

Why I was doing this, I didn't know, I was utterly powerless, lost in a whirlwind of uncontrollable need.

I closed my eyes, feeling the room's tension coil around us.

Before I fully comprehended my actions, I had pushed her onto the narrow wooden table that rested against the wall.

Her skirt and sweater disappeared by use of my magik.

I leaned in, pressing her body softly against the cool surface of the table.

Instead of resisting, she parted her legs slightly, inviting me into the intimate space between them with a silent acceptance that spoke volumes.

“Veylor,” she whispered.

Had Oryx spoken my name?

I grabbed her breast and she threaded her hands through my hair.

Why the hell did I crave this so desperately? The fiery need to feel her searing heat enveloping my shaft, the raw desire to plunge my tongue into her mouth, consumed me entirely.

I’ve never wanted anyone as much as I wanted Oryx and here this woman was that has invaded our lives and I wanted her too.

I blinked again and found I still had her by the neck with my Magik and still pinned to the wall.

I let go and she slid down to the floor. I had never had her on the table, never touched her breast.

Damnit I wanted to.

My hand shook and I ran it over my mouth. I have never hurt a woman, never tried to kill one before either, at least not on purpose…

“I apologize.” I straightened my coat and leaned forward to give her my hand. She batted it away, which was warranted and stood back. “You struck emotions that I…”

“Men don’t like to talk about emotions, I get it. Oryx is different and needs reassurance. That is the only reason why I am here.” She massaged her throat and glared at me.

As I stood there, trying to remain composed, I held my breath to avoid the intoxicating aroma that surrounded her. My eyes drifted to her breasts that pressed against the fabric of her sweater. A surge of longing washed over me, intensifying with each passing second.

Flustered, I took a step back, discreetly positioning myself behind the table to conceal my growing arousal.

“You are brave to come here. I was in shock to find a female in his bed. A… human.” I still could not process that a human was here, but I still was not convinced she was in fact one. I would have to determine that with more research.

She straightened her skirt and slung her long hair behind her back. “If that is an apology, not accepted. Figure out how to help Oryx and just so you know, I’m not leaving. If I do leave, Oryx will come with me.”

This is when I snarl. “You are a foolish female. Do you wish to find yourself dead?”

She crossed her arms and tapped her fingers on her arm. “Somehow, I don’t see that happening.” She smirked and sauntered out of the room.
