29. Discovery Process
Discovery Process
Sara
I yawn for the fourth time and shake my head.
Lunch filled me up, but now the work is putting me to sleep.
I don’t want to get more tea from the kitchen, but the guys didn’t exactly allow me to get a full night’s sleep last night.
Caffeine might be the only solution, especially when the numbers start to dance on the spreadsheet.
I blow out a frustrated breath.
“Come on, pip.” Dante stands and reaches his hand out. His hair is tied back in a bun. He’s wearing athletic pants and a t-shirt that forms to his muscles, leaving me drooling. “Let’s take a walk in the fresh air to wake up.”
I can think of other ways to wake up, but given the twinges inside, I nod and take his hand. Finn stands with us and the others don’t look up from their work. As I pass Wyatt, I trail my fingers across his broad shoulders. His lips tug into a smile and my heart quickens.
I love being able to touch him when I want to.
Drew glances up and his dark eyes meet mine. He smiles and winks before returning his gaze to his screen. Work is important. I get that. But I like when we’re all together.
Dante pulls me against his side as we walk out into the sunlight. The fresh air feels nice as it caresses my skin. It’s doing wonders to lift the drowsy fog that settled over me. I rest my head against Dante’s chest and Finn takes my other hand.
For a second, I relish this moment and then I remember. We aren’t truly alone.
I glance over my shoulder at the house, but fuck it, eventually my brother has to find out and there’s nothing happening here that hasn’t happened in the past. These two always looked out for me and touched me. It was Wyatt who never touched me.
It doesn’t matter that the simple contact heats me up and makes me long for more. More than my body can handle right now. So I just enjoy being able to bask in their warmth.
“What do you want to do tonight?” Dante asks. His fingers massage my shoulder as we walk to the little garden with stone benches.
There’s a lot we could be doing, but most of that is not possible currently. Unfortunately. I release a heavy sigh and try to think of stuff we can do without the internet or sex. I need to stop trying to make up for lost time and just enjoy being with my men.
So I think about it. What could we do? Here in the middle of nowhere?
“A bonfire? More movies? Read some books?” None of that sounds good to me though.
“I think there’s some old board games in one of the rooms.” Finn squeezes my hand. “We could play for more interesting things than money.”
Perking up at the dirty thoughts that accompany his statement, I arch an eyebrow. “Like what?”
We reach the stone benches and Dante sits, pulling me down beside him, while Finn sits on my other side.
“Still sore?” He tips my chin up. His green eyes search mine.
I exhale and pout. “Yes.”
He smirks and leans in to touch his lips to mine.
I pull away at the last minute and glance guiltily toward the house.
My brother’s going to find out, but I’d rather it be when I tell him.
Not by him finding me fucking his friends, because when they kiss me, I lose my mind and all I want is to keep going until someone is inside me, making me come.
Finn chuckles and brushes his cheek against mine. He whispers in my ear, “Worried Tom will find out about us?”
My eyes widen as he pulls back. “Yes. No. I don’t want him to catch us in the act.”
Dante chuckles too, but it would be mortifying.
I turn and narrow my eyes on him. “Last night was hot, but I know there probably wasn’t really a chance of him walking in or you guys wouldn’t have done it.”
“Don’t be so sure, flower.” Finn leans back on his hands. “I don’t give a fuck if he knows. But I know you want to tell him, so I’m behaving.” His eyes hold mine. “For now.”
I swallow. “Everything is so fucked-up right now. We’re hiding from—what? The Mafia?”
“Not sure they qualify, but I’ll allow it.” Finn nods like he’s royalty. Fuck, with what he’s said about his father, he probably is the most qualified to make that determination.
But still, I roll my eyes. Then keep going, because I opened the floodgates, so it’s all going to pour out.
“I have to deal with my brother marrying and impregnating the daughter of the man who kidnapped me and threatened that whatever harm had befallen his daughter he’d do to me.
And I really don’t want to be married and impregnated by the Mafia overlord. ”
“Wrong word, pip.”
I glance at Dante’s dancing eyes. “Don’t care, boss. You get the idea. He’s out there, and yes, we’re hoping the Feds have enough to bring him in, but what if they don’t? I can’t exactly be mean to him at the next benefit we go to. Or tase him. And what if he decides to kidnap me again?”
“They have enough evidence, flower. They’ll get him.”
“Maybe, but how many rich guys get out on technicalities?” My heart is racing.
They’ll lock me up and I’ll never be allowed outside alone again.
While I really enjoy being with them, I don’t think I could take that.
“You can’t guarantee he’ll stay in jail.
And what if he can’t get to me, so he goes after Mom or Caitlyn? ”
“Calm down, pip. That’s not going to happen.” Dante’s voice is soothing, but nothing about this is calm.
I stand, needing to get away from their touch and what it does to fog up my brain. Because I want to believe them, but things don’t always go our way.
“You don’t know that. You don’t know what he would do.”
Dante breathes out as he watches me, but he doesn’t say anything. Because he can’t. That’s a very real possibility. I hold my hand over my stomach as it sinks.
That’s not even half of what’s bothering me though.
I look at the house again before turning back to them. “And what Tom did to Wyatt? Why would he do that? They’re best friends. My dad was only trying to protect Wyatt. Wyatt didn’t do anything wrong.”
My eyes water, thinking of the weight Wyatt carried all these years. Probably still carries.
Finn stands and moves like he’s going to pull me into his arms, but I step back and hold a hand up.
“I need to work this out, and if you touch me, I’ll stop thinking and start feeling.” I give him a small smile to soften my statement. “Which I love, but I have to unravel this tangle in my brain before I explode.”
Finn sits and gestures. “Feel free, flower. We’ll listen.”
“Years.” I press my fingers to my temples and close my eyes.
A tear slips down my cheek. “Years of keeping Wyatt away from me. Years of saying I’m too good for him because he murdered our father.
No wonder Wyatt acted like he hated me. No wonder he stopped caring for me.
Tom didn’t care that it hurt me. That I died a little inside every time Wyatt turned away. How could Tom do that?”
“I don’t know.” Dante’s words are soft. “You aren’t the only one struggling with it. I understand the bro code and the whole Wyatt’s needs are darker thing, but that was bullshit. Tom never should have made Wyatt believe he was responsible for your father’s death. It’s wrong on so many levels.”
“And I don’t want to think that about my brother.
I don’t want to think that he’s cruel like that.
That he would let his best friend believe he’s responsible for our father’s death.
And then use that so Wyatt wouldn’t want me.
” A laugh tears from my throat. “Instead, it made us both crave the other so much more. If he’d let it go, we might have broken each other’s hearts when we were younger.
We would have both moved on from our obsession. ”
It makes my heart ache, but I wouldn’t have been ready for Wyatt’s intensity when I was younger. I would have submitted to him, and while he may have thought that’s what he wanted, he prefers me to be a brat. To make him work to earn his control over me.
“Tom’s an asshole.” Finn shakes his head. “He’s my friend and business partner and the brother I never had, but he’s an asshole. He wanted to protect you. He made Dante your keeper and Wyatt your enemy.”
“And what did he make you?” I meet his green eyes as he smirks.
“His partner in crime. His wingman, and he was mine. He needed someone as fucked in the head as he was.” Finn laughs bitterly. “He used all of us, but we owed him because we used him.”
“Your family was home to us, pip.” Dante’s blue eyes capture me.
“And Tom let us in on that. Yeah, we all used each other and all had a role to play, but without Tom, Finn would have been his father’s puppet.
I would have been my uncle’s means to get ahead in business.
And Wyatt would have been alone in a cold house.
Tom gave us you. Warmth and sunshine and laughter. ”
“It doesn’t matter the cost, flower.” Finn smiles and his eyes pierce my heart. “You’re the good part of all of us. Even Wyatt knew, to have you is worth it.”
My heart feels like it’s going to explode. It’s so full. Without Tom, I would have never known any of them.
My hand covers my mouth before I climb onto Dante’s lap and kiss him.
If I didn’t already love them, I would have fallen hard for them.
He holds me close as we explore each other’s mouths like we have the rest of our lives to live in this moment.
When he draws back, I reach out to grab Finn’s shirt and draw him to me to claim his mouth.
These men are mine. I don’t care how they got here, they belong to me now. No one else. And I won’t let them be used again.
Finn kisses me like there’s no one else in the world but us. The three of us bound together tighter than any rope could bind us. I’m on fire with what we’ve done to each other and what we can do. We have the rest of our lives to discover everything about each other.
Dante kisses my neck and the fire inside me bursts into a blaze. I don’t care that I should take it easy. That my body is still sore and achy. I’ve spent my whole life wanting these men and they’re mine now.
I don’t want to rest. I just want them.
Moving to Finn’s lap, I break from his mouth before turning and taking Dante’s again. Needing to feel both of them, to connect us. Finn teases the side of my neck with his teeth and lips. His hands cradle my ass.
I could stay like this forever, but I’m missing pieces. Drew and Wyatt and everything we’ve become together. When all of us are in the same space, I feel whole, but I miss playing with just these two.
Dante runs a hand up the front of my shirt.
“We should go up to the room for a while, flower,” Finn says in my ear. “We can take care of you without hitting any of the sore spots.”
I break away from Dante’s kiss and search his eyes before turning to search Finn’s. I groan because I want to give in so badly. Want to have them give me pleasure and forget about the outside world waiting to come in.
Fuck it. I kiss Finn.
“What the fuck do you think you’re doing to my sister?”
