“ W hat did she just say?” Maddie asks, looking in disbelief at our girl passed out against Alek’s chest.
“Yeah…about that,” Alek says with a shit-eating grin like I’ve never seen on him before. “I haven’t had a chance to tell you guys yet. She said that to me earlier when I was helping her get cleaned up.”
“You know, I don’t even fucking care that she said it to you first. She fucking loves us, man?!” Maddox jumps up, whooping and hollering as he dances around, shaking his ass like a fool. I can’t seem to wipe my own grin off my face either.
She said ‘I love you’.
And then she passed out before we could even process it. I might just spank her ass as red as her hair when she’s healed some more for that– and not letting me say it first.
She deserves to hear how much I fucking love her, too. How much I couldn’t fucking breathe when she was taken from us, and how I’ll spend the rest of our lives making sure she knows she’s safe, cared for, and loved. I’ll burn the fucking world to the ground before I lose her again.
Her. Em. My brothers. The family we’ve created here. I'll protect them. With my life, as Ella says. And we can start with getting some answers from the scum hanging limply behind us.
“No one is taking her from us ever again,” I growl, thinking back to something Maddox said earlier. “Maddie, tell me what you had in mind.”
