Chapter 33
KYLIE
Icried throughout the entire ceremony. I ugly cried from the instant Sam noticed my sister and nephew approaching until long after it ended.
Luc’s eyes were red.
Why? My God.
He had been great with Crew this entire week.
He was appropriately emotional during the ceremony, and he’d reminded me often that if I wanted to tell the world we were together, to do it.
How could this man who was a natural with children and so supportive of other people’s relationships not want it? Why wasn’t I enough for him?
Kendra hugged me, and I leaned hard into her.
“Ky, pull yourself together.”
With a sniffle and a nod, I wiped my face. “I’ll be fine. Just get a drink in me.”
As soon as the server passed with the champagne, I started celebrating with a glass.
“I think Luc likes you,” Kelsey whispered in my ear.
“Is that so?” Searching the crowd for Luc, I found his gaze fixed on me. He’d watched me all day, and I’d fought against the impulse to go to him. Right now? Too weak to fight it.
“Ky, he’s fucking hot. Go. Get it.”
Looking between us both, Kendra then nodded at Luc. “I’d hit that. If you don’t bang the groom’s good-looking guest, then someone should.”
“Don’t come looking for me. Don’t you dare let anyone come back to the villa.”
“Ooh, ooh,” Kelsey said, whooping as I made my way over to Luc.
“Hey.”
“Hey.”
“Um, my sister thinks you like me. She told me I should take you home.”
“Did she, now?” He asked.
“Yup.”
“What’s your plan?”
“I’m going to take advantage of the empty villa and spend some quality time with the man I love.”
Luc’s eyes squeezed shut, and his chest expanded, shaking hard as he let out a breath.
“Fuck, baby. I love you too.”
We both stared at each other, eyes wet as we confessed our feelings to each other.
“Let’s go.”
Once we were out of view, Luc took my hand, interlacing our fingers together. The ride back up the hill felt like an eternity, and Luc took turns watching me and watching the road.
We burst through the door, and in our haste, we both headed to opposite bedrooms.
“My room, now.”
Opening his bedroom door, Luc left no room for me to argue. As the door slammed shut, Luc pressed me against it, and his mouth wrecked mine.
“Fuck, Kylie. What you fucking do to me.”
He tore his mouth away from mine. The rise and fall of his chest was fast, as if he’d been running.
My thumb tried to smooth out the furrowing of his brow, and I rested my other hand on his chest, feeling the rapid pounding of his heart.
I loved him, and I spent the last week punishing him.
“I’m so sorry, Luc. I was an asshole this week.”
He loves me. I punished him, not because of anything he’d done, but because he’d once been transparent about his boundaries. What I learned this week was that I can live with those boundaries, but I can’t imagine a life without him.
He peppered my face with kisses. “Don’t. It’s okay now, baby.”
“When we get back, I’m going to introduce you to my parents and family—as my boyfriend.”
“Yeah?”
His voice shook, eyes welling up as he absorbed what I said.
When he kissed me this time, soft, sweet, soulful—he took his time undressing me, exploring my body as if it were the first time he had seen it.
When he pressed into me, his head dropped to my shoulder as he took a large, gulping breath. Emotion clogged my throat.
“Eyes on me, baby.”
Luc thrust deep, and I cupped his cheek, unable to look away from him. He’s taken me hard, fucked me in every position known to man, but tonight was different.
“Luc!”
I cried out when I came. He followed me, his mouth sweeping over mine for a long kiss. Luc rolled onto his back, and I rolled onto my side.
He reached down to remove the condom, and his hands fumbled.
“Shit, where’s the condom?”
“It’s not on you?” I asked, starting to panic.
Luc pressed me onto my back; his fingers swept inside me. He scissored them, finally pulling out the condom.
“Shit.”
For a man who never wanted kids, he didn’t seem that nervous about the lost condom.
“Do you think they sell Plan B on the island?”
Luc grabbed his phone and searched on Google. “Looks like it. We can get it tomorrow.”
“Do you think we can wait?”
“I’m sure we can. Come here. Don’t let this ruin tonight.”
