From the shadowed alley across the street, I watched her through the shop window. My jaw ticked. Maybe I’d overlook the other day when I saw her with that Collins person.
My fingers dug into the masonry until they bled.
She’s still perfect, just like she was all those years ago when I saw her for the first time. Her skin looked so soft, and she smelled so clean. Then there was that hair. I’d never seen any that color.
I’d make her remember.
Soon, she’d understand why I couldn’t let her go. She’d remember what I’d done for her.
I shifted, smearing my blood on the stone, heart pounding as she laughed with a customer, her innocence shining.
She’s mine.
But the voice called back to me, “LIAR.”
