Chapter 41

Nightfall had arrived, and the surrounding lights gradually lit up, casting a glow on Victoria's radiant face.

She slightly furrowed her brows, and a trace of impatience flickered across her expression.

Henry saw it clearly. A hint of coolness passed through his eyes, but he spoke anyway. "Do you come here to find us?"

In his eyes, Victoria had intentionally come over because he hadn't allowed her to follow them earlier.

He felt she must be jealous. After all, he had been getting closer to Sarah, and Jude liked Sarah a lot too.

He thought even if she'd lost her memory, her subconscious instincts should still be there.

Victoria immediately shook her head. "No, I came here to eat with a friend."

Henry raised an eyebrow. "Where's your friend?"

"He left first," Victoria replied.

"Ha." Henry gave a dismissive laugh, clearly not believing her.

Without another word, he opened the back door of his car for Sarah. "I have something to take care of. The driver will take you home."

Sarah suppressed her emotions. "Okay."

Then, Henry carried Jude, turned around and got into the Victoria's car.

Victoria was stunned.

She thought, "Wait, that's it? He just got in without even asking for my permission?

Does he really think I came here looking for them? She felt ridiculous.

If she had known this would happen, she would have waited to come out later or just left as soon as Jayce did!

She cursed in her heart, "What a mess!"

Victoria climbed into the car with a blank face and started the engine.

Henry glanced at her through the rearview mirror. Her small face was delicate and beautiful, but the irritation in her eyes was clear.

His expression darkened further.

He felt she was still pretending.

He thought she was just pretending not to care.

"I will arrange a special check-up for you at the hospital tomorrow".

Victoria gripped the steering wheel tightly. "Why?"

"To check on your brain." His tone was slow, but the words sounded odd, almost like he was implying there was something wrong with her mind.

Victoria pressed her lips. She didn't know how to refuse. She knew Henry was extremely suspicious, and one slip-up and he'd start doubting her.

At Edward's birthday party, he had called her name in front of everyone based on just a few coincidences. She was terrified he'd uncover her true identity.

She couldn't help but thought, "What will happen then? How furious would he be if he found out the truth?

It wouldn't just be me. Everyone involved would suffer."

"Fine." After thinking it over, she agreed.

Amnesia wasn't something that could be detected by medical equipment, so she could always improvise when the time came.

The car made its way to Rose Villa.

When it stopped in front of the gates, Victoria turned to Henry. "I've done everything you asked. As for Evie's case, can you please not pursue it anymore?"

As she spoke, her gaze unconsciously fell on Jude. He had already fallen asleep, his little face soft and innocent, resting on Henry lap. He looked like an innocent, carefree child.

Thinking back to what he had said in the bathroom, a sharp pang of pain shot through Victoria's chest. She lowered her gaze, struggling to keep her emotions in check.

The dim light in the car masked her emotions, and Henry didn't notice the subtle shift.

Henry gave a quiet response.

Victoria felt a surge of relief. "Thank you!"

The two hundred million dollars in debt seemed to vanish, and she felt relieved!

Henry then said, "You carry him inside to sleep."

"Okay!"

Victoria was in a good mood. It was a small favor, and of course, she was happy to do it. She got out of the car, gently lifting Jude.

When he was moved, he opened his eyes. When he saw it was Victoria holding him, he instinctively snuggled closer to her chest, calling out softly, "Mom."
