Chapter 83

Tina quickly waved her hand. "Vika, don't say that. I'll be fine heading home on my own. Take care. See you!"

"See you," Victoria replied as she saw Tina off.

Afterward, Victoria went to check on Sebastian. She wasn't sure how much he had drunk, but he didn't look well at all.

Emma was quietly sitting in the living room. When Victoria came out after settling Sebastian, she found Emma playing with a figurine on the coffee table.

"Emma, we're staying here tonight. How about I show you the guest room to freshen up?"

"Okay!" Emma immediately nodded and jumped off the couch to follow Victoria to the guest room.

Once Emma was settled, Victoria returned to the bedroom. To her surprise, Sebastian had opened his eyes at some point and was staring out the window in a daze.

"Sebastian, how are you feeling?" Victoria asked as she moved closer.

Sebastian sat up and rubbed his forehead. "Vicky, I've run into some trouble".

Victoria's heart skipped a beat. She quickly asked, "What happened? Have Mom and Dad found out?"

He gave a bitter smile. "I can't let them know. If they do, they'll kick me out of the company."

That was when Victoria realized the situation was serious. She steeled herself, asking, "What happened? Tell me, maybe I can help."

Sebastian's eyes were bloodshot, and his voice was hoarse as he spoke.

"I made a bad investment and got trapped by someone in the industry.

They took away 500.000 million dollars in funds, which directly caused a break in the production department's cash flow.

I sold some of my properties to fill in, but it's just not enough. "

Victoria gasped in shock. "Who set you up?"

Sebastian shook his head. "I don't know. I didn't even realize it was a trap. Everything about the project looked great, including the prospects and the plans. It was similar to ones I've done before. I thought it was a sure thing, but... I never expected this."

He lowered his head, clutching his hair, visibly distressed and full of self–blame.

Victoria's expression grew grim. She knew well that James and Camille valued the company's interests above all else.

Sebastian had always been competent, visionary, and reliable, which was why they trusted him.

But if they found out about the massive hole he had caused, they would never trust him again.

"I'll try to find a way to help you fill in the gap," Victoria said firmly, pulling out her own savings. "I have thirty million dollars in my account. You can take it for now."

Sebastian's voice was hoarse as he replied, "Vicky, this wouldn't even cover a bit of the losses."

Victoria's face remained serious. "We need to figure something out together. Let's first plug the gap. We need to figure out who set you up. We can't just let someone stab you in the back and not even know who did it."

Sebastian, eyes bloodshot, nodded in agreement.

"Go take a shower and get some rest. Things will get better," Victoria reassured him with a small smile.

Sebastian looked at her deeply, his guilt evident. "I'm sorry. I can't help you, and yet I'm still dragging you into this."

"What are you saying?" Victoria shot him a playful glare. "We're siblings! You protected me when we were kids, and now I'm here to protect you."

Sebastian smiled faintly. "Yeah, my little sister has grown up and can protect her big brother now."

Victoria stood up and left the bedroom. She paced around the living room before finally dialing Diana's number.

"Diana, something's happened with my brother. Can you look into who set him up?"

Diana replied, "Tell me exactly what happened, and I'll see what I can do."

"Okay."

Time passed quickly, and three hour later, Victoria's phone rang.

She immediately picked up. "Diana, have you found anything?"

Diana's voice sounded cautious. "You need to be mentally prepared."
