Chapter 112

Victoria pressed her dry lips together, her voice angry as she said, "I will not apologize to Sarah."

"Mm."

Henry replied expressionlessly. "This has nothing to do with you."

Victoria's heart remained calm.

She could not understand why he was not holding her responsible for hitting Sarah, but she was not going to back down on this issue.

Victoria hung up the phone without hesitation.

Jayce tucked his phone away, his face unreadable. "Why did you jump out of the car?"

Victoria gave tug at her lips. "Maybe I lost my mind."

In that moment, a surge of emotions overwhelmed her. All she wanted was to escape, to get as far away as possible, and without hesitation, she jumped.

Jayce gazed at her with a detached look. "I have always wanted to die too."

Victoria felt confused.

Delia said, "Mr. Caldwell..."

Jayce continued, "But Grandpa depends on me. If I die, he will die too. I want to end it quietly, on my own. I would be a sinner if others get caught up in it."

A blank expression crossed Victoria's face. "I...never wanted to die."

Jayce then asked, "Then why did you jump?"

Victoria was silent for a while before speaking.

"I am sorry. I made a mistake."

She could not grasp his reasoning, and he could not understand hers, so arguing seemed pointless.

"Mm."

Jayce replied flatly. "You owe me an apology for wasting my time."

Delia looked conflicted.

She wanted to put an end to Jayce's unreasonable behavior, but oddly, she felt some relief. Jayce rarely spoke a word in a day, yet when it came to Victoria, he seemed to have so much to say.

Even if his words were frustrating, at least he shared his thoughts. After a lot of hesitation, she decided not to stop him.

Victoria placed her hand on her forehead. "Mr. Caldwell, please stop. It hurts so much."

Upon hearing that, Jayce frowned and quickly turned to leave. A moment later, a doctor walked in behind him.

"She says she is experiencing a headache." Jayce spoke.

Victoria was silent.

The doctor quickly approached and began examining her.

Victoria felt uneasy. She just did not want to explain why she had jumped out of the car.

After a brief check, the doctor said, "There is nothing serious. The impact will cause intermittent headaches, but they should go away after a couple of days of rest."

Victoria said, "Thank you, Doctor."

As soon as the doctor left, the ward became silent.

Jayce sat in the chair, his eyes cast down, his presence almost invisible.

Delia asked, "Mrs. Harrison, are you experiencing any other discomfort? Is there anything I can help you with?"

"It is fine, thank you,"

Victoria gave a faint smile, then pulled out her phone to call Diana. About twenty minutes later, Diana arrived.

"What happened?"

Diana frowned upon seeing Victoria's condition and quickly asked.

Delia explained the situation.

Diana's expression hardened, but she remained polite. "Thank you both. I will take care of her now. If you have other matters to attend to, please don't feel obliged to stay."

Delia nodded with a smile, then walked over to Jayce. "Mr. Caldwell, let's go."

Jayce stood up silently and walked toward the door.

As he reached the door, he suddenly turned around and gazed at Victoria. "If you ever want to die, let me know. We can die together."

With that, he turned and left.

Victoria was left speechless.

Diana stared at her, stunned. "You two planned to die together?"

"Of course not!" Victoria quickly shot back, her voice trembling with distress. "He has severe depression. He has been saying he wants to die. When I jumped out of the car, he thought I was trying to kill myself."

Diana gave her a speechless look. She pulled out a chair and sat by the bed. "Alright, explain to me—why did you jump?"

Victoria stiffened at the question, raising her hand to cover her eyes. Her voice was strained and rough as she replied, "I just...thought of getting away, in that moment."

Diana watched her quietly for a moment. "Alright, get some rest. I will take care of the hospital fees."

Victoria had a small fracture in her foot and needed a few days of bed rest.

She felt exhausted, both mentally and physically. The ward grew quiet, and she soon fell into a deep sleep.

Camille's car was parked outside the hospital. The driver went to ask around and came back with information. "Mrs. Camille Hardwick, the young man who took Ms. Hardwick away is Jayce Caldwell, from the Caldwell family."

Camille's brows furrowed at the mention of the name.

She thought, "The Caldwell family is a prestigious family in Lanceser. Sir Caldwell, a master of traditional painting, has works displayed in museums. Now retired, his paintings are priceless.

Jayce, orphaned young, was cherished by Sir Caldwell, though he rarely appeared in public due to illness."

"How did this troublesome girl get involved with Jayce?"

Camille's face darkened. She thought, "If Henry finds out, he will be furious. And if he direct his anger at the Hardwick family, we will be in serious trouble. The Hardwick family is not what it used to be, and the Harrison family is stronger than ever. This girl never makes things easy!"

Camille was about to head to the hospital when two bodyguards approached her.

"Mrs. Camille Hardwick, Mr. Harrison requests your presence."

Camille's heart skipped a beat. She thought, "Henry is definitely angry about it!"

Her resentment toward Victoria grew stronger, and she was already planning to teach Victoria a lesson later.

Camille quickly regained her composure and smiled. "Where is Henry?"

The bodyguard replied, "Mr. Harrison is not here, but he sent us to bring you somewhere."

Camille paused. "Where to?"

"You will know when you get there."

Though uneasy, Camille had no choice but to follow the orders and get into the car.

The car drove from the hospital to a private Harrison family facility. In the VIP ward, Camille saw Sarah in bed, Jennifer on the sofa, and Henry by the window, speaking on the phone.

"Mrs. Jennifer Harrison, it has been a while," Camille said with a wider smile, walking over to greet her.

Jennifer gave a light smile. "What have you been up to, Mrs. Camille Hardwick?"

Camille sat beside her, casually chatting about flower arranging, coffee tasting, and finding beautiful jade at an auction.

After a few sentences, her gaze shifted to Sarah.

"Hello, Mrs. Camille Hardwick."

Sarah greeted her sweetly.

Camille paused for a moment, then asked, "Are you Ms. Miller?"

Sarah nodded. "Yes, I am Sarah Miller."

A strange sensation stirred in Camille's chest when she looked at this woman. "I heard you are a ballet dancer. No wonder you have such an elegant presence. You truly look like a fairy–so beautiful."
