Chapter 160
After a brief conversation, Victoria hung up.
The doctor came to check on Ava and inquire into her present condition and feelings. She grinned and started chatting with him.
She asked him how old he was, if he had a wife, how old his children were, and so on... She didn't look like a patient with a fracture at all.
Victoria watched the scene with complete relief. Then, she bought breakfast and came back to eat.
There were no major problems with Ava's leg, and she would be released from the hospital within two days to rest at home and would only need to return for a checkup in three months.
Victoria remembered it all very clearly.
Ava glanced at her and said, "You don't have to remember. You won't be here for long."
Victoria asked, "What if I live here?"
"What? Are you going to leave your husband and son?" Ava stared at her.
"Yes."
Ava looked at her twice before saying, "You can leave your husband, but you still have to keep your son. He is very cute, and I like him."
Victoria's heart skipped a beat. Her intuition told her that Ava must have known something.
Her long eyelashes fluttered, and she asked, "Grandma, you..."
"Ava, Victoria."
However, before Victoria could finish her words, Pete's chuckle came from the door.
"Pete, why are you here again? Don't you run a shop?" Ava fixed her eyes on him with some displeasure. "I'm fine now. You can go back."
Pete said, "The reason I opened the shop was to be free. I can open or close it at will."
"You've been carefree since childhood, and now you don't have a wife yet, right?" Ava knew how to touch his sore spot.
Pete begged helplessly, "Ava, can you please not talk about this? Do you still want the ruby pendant?"
Ava took a fancy to a ruby pendant of a rose. Pete was a craftsman. He would carve it for her for free as long as she provided a ruby.
She nodded immediately. "Yes. I won't talk about it. It's great that you're here. Accompany me to get some fresh air outside."
They went together to the back of the hospital. There was an activity area where many patients would come for walks.
Pete gazed at Victoria and asked, "How was your sleep last night?"
"Very good!" she smiled. Staying by Ava's side, she would relax unconsciously.
"I can tell that you look much better than before," Pete chuckled.
Victoria nodded. Staring at Ava's smiling face, she felt warm and at the same time panicked.
But at that moment, Pete suddenly whispered, "Stay still."
Startled, Victoria asked in confusion, "What's wrong?"
Pete approached her, slowly extending his hand and making a quick move in the next second. She only felt her hair being ruffled, and then he pinched a green insect and showed it to her.
Victoria screamed in fear and ran away! She was most afraid of bugs!
Pete raised his eyebrows slightly. "I remember you were very afraid of insects. I thought you had changed now, but it turns out you are still the same as before."
"Throw it away!" Victoria stared at the bug with disgust, feeling her hair stand on end.
Pete grinned and tossed the bug far away.
Nearby, Henry watched the scene, his handsome, chiseled face growing icy.
Victoria glanced back and met his gaze, and the smile faded from her face in an instant.
Why was Henry here?
Victoria had a premonition and subconsciously didn't want him to see Ava!
She calmed herself down and said to Ava, "Grandma, I'm going to the bathroom."
"Go ahead."
Ava saw some people gathering and chatting at a little distance and immediately asked Pete to wheel her over.
Victoria strode up to Henry, seized him by the arm, and led him out.
Yet, he stood motionless, making it impossible for her to push him away.
"Why are you here?"
Suppressing her anger, Victoria fixed her clear eyes on Henry warily.
He glanced at her tender and pretty hand, held it in his palm, and said in a low and pleasant voice, "Learning that your grandmother had a fracture, I came here to visit her."
"No need! She is fine now. She is going to leave the hospital soon, so don't come here and cause trouble. Leave now!"
"Why?" Henry, with a little force, drew her before him, holding her waist so tightly that she could not break free.
"I am your husband, aren't I? Don't I deserve to meet your grandmother?"
Henry raised his pretty eyebrows, gazing at Victoria deeply and icily with his charming eyes.
She talked and laughed with another man, and when she saw him, it was as if he were her mortal enemy.
Was she so unwilling to see him? Had she forgotten that she was still his wife?
"Let go of me!" Never expecting Henry to be so bold, Victoria immediately began to struggle.
He warned coldly, "If you don't give me a satisfactory reason, I won't leave. We have been married for five years, but I haven't met your grandmother yet. How rude!"
With her hands on his chest, Victoria looked at his handsome, chiseled face, feeling depressed.
"I want to divorce you, so there's no need for you to meet my grandmother."
"Did I agree?"
With a smile, Henry watched the calmness in Victoria's eyes give way to anger.
She grew more vivacious.
But were these the only emotions she felt in the face of him?
Henry missed her starry eyes and her smiling face whenever she had seen him.
At that moment, his upset feelings caused him to be determined to make the culprit suffer.
With Victoria in his arms, he headed towards Ava.
"No!" Victoria struggled at once, unwilling to go over.
"You can struggle as much as you want and make louder noises. Then, your grandmother will notice us," Henry said.
Her sore spot seemed to have been touched. As a result, she stopped struggling and grew even more furious.
"Henry, do you insist on ruining my happy life?" she asked through gritted teeth.
"What nonsense are you talking about?" Holding her slender waist, Henry walked forward step by step. "You are my wife. Of course, I want you to be happy. Your pleasure will enable mine."
Victoria closed her eyes. She was not stupid enough to think that he had come to Camoreham for her. It was probably because of something else, but they met by chance.
How unlucky!
After taking a deep breath, Victoria stressed, "There's no need for you to see my grandmother. I'm not her biological granddaughter, so naturally, she has nothing to do with you."
Henry paused, fixed his alluring on her, and sensed her sadness.
Victoria was indeed very sad that she was not the daughter of the Hardwick family.
Henry said, "No one can take away whatever belongs to you."
Victoria looked at him suspiciously. "What?"
Henry suddenly pivoted and drew her away from the place, straight to the outside of the hospital.
When they were far enough away to catch Ava's attention, she immediately shook his hand off.
