Chapter 178
She gave a cold smile. "This misunderstanding didn't cause you any trouble, did it? But what you did to me has had negative effects on me, Henry. You should apologize to me."
After Victoria calmed down, her thoughts became clear, and she refuted his words very quickly.
In an instant, the conference room fell silent.
Henry stared intensely at her with his beautiful eyes, carrying a tinge of interest.
He suddenly asked, "So, you endured me for so long because you liked me?"
Victoria admitted it, "Yes, I liked you."
She smiled, her eyes showing relief. "But I no longer like you."
In the previous second, Henry's heart was filled with joy, like countless fireworks blooming. But in the next second, the fireworks were struck by lightning and vanished without a trace, and the joy also disappeared.
"She no longer likes me. That's really harsh." He thought.
"Where's my grandmother?" Victoria asked again, her reddened eyes looking at him calmly.
Henry said indifferently, "I haven't met your grandmother yet."
Victoria frowned slightly, wanting to refuse but thinking that if she declined Henry again, he wouldn't let her see her grandmother. Therefore, she agreed, "Fine, you take me there, and I'll let you see her."
Henry stood up leisurely and said, "Let's go to my room first."
Victoria looked at him warily.
He immediately pointed at himself. "Are you sure you want me to go see your grandmother like this?"
Victoria pursed her lips, composed herself, and followed him back to the presidential suite.
As soon as they entered, Sophia's voice came,
"Henry, I discovered that it was Jayce who had people target me! Why did he target me? Isn't he good friends with my brother? All my projects have been ruined because of him, and now I can't even secure new deals. Henry, you've got to help me!"
Victoria's eyes flickered upon those words.
Sophia's consecutive contract cancellations were actually caused by Jayce.
Somehow, she felt touched.
Seeing her here, Henry frowned. "Why are you here again?"
Then, he saw the various opened jewelry boxes on the table and the pearl necklace on Sophia's neck.
His expression darkened instantly. "Who allowed you to wear it?"
Sophia was stunned. "What? Aren't these for me?"
Henry's face was still gloomy. "Take it off!"
Feeling extremely embarrassed, Sophia hurriedly took off the pearl necklace, stuttering, "I... I thought they were for me."
Henry was very annoyed and looked at her impatiently. "Go back to Lanceser since you've already found out what happened."
Sophia felt aggrieved by Henry's rejection.
"Why is he so nice to Sarah but so terrible to me?
Was it because Sarah's sister died and my brother hasn't?" She wondered.
Sophia bit her lip and left the presidential suite dejectedly.
Henry looked at the opened jewelry boxes and felt it was inappropriate to give them to Victoria after someone else had worn them. He said to Jacob, "Donate them all."
"What?"
Jacob was stunned and subconsciously said, "Aren't they supposed to be gifts for Mrs..."
Before he could finish, a cold gaze fell on him and shut him up immediately. Jacob nodded and took the jewelry boxes out.
Henry glanced at Victoria. Seeing her with her eyes lowered, immersed in her thoughts, he relaxed.
But realizing that she didn't care about him at all now, he wore a cold face again.
Victoria sat on the sofa, waiting quietly.
After a while, Henry came out. She raised her eyes to look at him.
He had been wearing a black suit before, but now he was in a silver–gray suit, bringing out his broad shoulders, narrow waist, and long legs.
Henry did have a perfectly proportioned body, and every move he made exuded a cold and noble air.
Victoria immediately stood up, thinking he was ready to leave. But to her surprise, Henry suddenly asked, "How do I look?"
Victoria nodded. "Good. Let's go."
Henry stared at her for a moment and then said, "I don't think this is good enough."
With that, he went back to the bedroom.
Victoria was confused, thinking, "What does that mean? Why did he change again? Why is he so serious about meeting my grandmother?
Huh... It doesn't matter how serious he is. I want a divorce, and my grandmother doesn't like him!"
Just then, her phone rang. She took it out and saw it was a call from Pete.
"Hello?" She answered, her tone gentle.
Pete asked, "How did it go? Did you talk it over?"
"Yup, I'm about to see my grandmother." Victoria said, "You don't have to wait downstairs. Everything is settled."
"I won't leave." Pete said, "I won't feel at ease until I see Ava."
Victoria thought for a moment. "Alright. You can follow us later."
"Okay."
After Victoria hung up, Henry came out again.
This time he was in a black striped suit, elegant and noble. He adjusted his cuffs without looking up and asked, "How about this one?"
"It's good."
Victoria's tone remained calm.
Henry frowned instantly.
Seeing this, Victoria quickly said, "You look smart in it, very sharp. Can we go now?"
Henry's furrowed brows relaxed, and he nodded, "Yes."
Then, they left the hotel.
Henry immediately spotted Pete waiting at the hotel entrance. His eyes turned cold, and he wrapped his arm around Victoria's slender waist.
Victoria struggled, and he said, "If you don't play along, I won't let you see your grandmother."
Her grandmother was her weak spot.
That one sentence had her in his grasp.
Victoria's face tightened, and her lips pursed.
Pete walked over. Henry snorted and said to Victoria, "I didn't expect to find a knight in shining armor in a place like this, and he's always followed you around."
Victoria replied casually, "I'm pretty and have a good personality. Isn't it normal for people to like me?"
Besides, Pete was a friend who she had known for many years!
But she wouldn't explain so much to Henry.
Henry tightened his grip on her waist, clearly displeased.
"Vicky."
Pete came up to Victoria, calling her name affectionately. Seeing her red and swollen eyes, he frowned and looked at Henry, "What did you do to Vicky?"
Henry looked at him with disdain and said coldly, "Why do you care what happened between my wife and me?"
Pete clenched his fists. "I won't interfere in your marital problems, but I won't allow you to hurt Vicky!"
He grabbed Victoria's arm, trying to pull her over, "Vicky, stay away from him."
"Let go."
Henry's cold gaze fell on his hand, and a chill spread around him.
He was about to flare up.
Victoria didn't want them to get in a fight. She interrupted, "I was just too anxious about my grandmother and got a bit emotional. Pete, I'm fine. Seeing my grandmother is more important now."
"Vicky...
Pete...
Heh, they looked so intimate!" Henry thought to himself.
Pete nodded but still looked at Henry warily, then turned to Victoria and said, "Don't worry, I will always be there for you."
Victoria nodded perfunctorily and then pulled Henry into the car.
Jacob started the car, and Henry's cold voice sounded, "Victoria, don't forget that we are still married. If you dare to do anything out of line, I won't be polite to you."
Victoria was preoccupied with thoughts of her grandmother. So, she simply nodded her head absentmindedly, barely paying attention to what Henry was saying.
Seeing her indifferent expression, Henry felt even more irritated. He reached out to tug at his tie, but then he remembered that he had just changed into this outfit and would meet Victoria's grandmother soon, so he forcefully suppressed his urge.
Jacob said at this moment, "Mr. Harrison, the car behind has been following us."
"Ditch him," Henry said coldly.
"Yes."
Jacob immediately accelerated and turned, weaving through the traffic, quickly leaving Pete's car far behind.
Seeing this, Victoria immediately looked at Henry and asked, 'Why are you doing this? He wants to see my grandmother, too."
Henry's deep and pleasant voice was tinged with coldness, "Who does he think he is? Why would I take him?"
"You..."
Victoria was momentarily speechless. She forced herself to suppress her emotions and took out her phone to share her location with Pete.
But in the next second, her phone was snatched away.
"You give it back to me!"
She reached out to snatch it back, but Henry put the phone into his pocket, his beautiful eyes looking at her coldly.
"Didn't I make myself clear?"
Victoria pursed her lips, withdrew her hand, and sat aside without looking at him anymore.
"What a strange man! He was with his first love before and then got involved with an actress. Did I do anything about it? Now that I have a few male friends, he's acting crazy. Those who don't know would think he loves me a lot and cares for me deeply. How ironic." She thought to herself.
Jacob was an excellent driver. After just three red traffic lights, he had already left Pete's car far behind. It was only then that he headed towards the sanatorium.
In less than half an hour, the car drove into a serene yet exquisite sanatorium.
It stopped in front of a building, where a familiar person was at the door. It was Mr. Stoddard.
"Hello, Mr. and Mrs. Harrison."
Seeing them get out of the car, Dylan Stoddard approached with great enthusiasm, his eyes squinted into a line as he smiled.
Jacob said, "Mr. Stoddard, there is no need to be so courteous. We will have to trouble you to take care of Mrs. Harrison's grandmother in the future."
Dylan quickly nodded, "No problem. Madam Hardwick is very spirited, and after coming here, she quickly got familiar with the other elderly people. Right now, she's playing cards with others. Please come with me."
Victoria didn't know what to say. She wore a complicated expression. She was so worried about her grandmother, but what happened?
Ava went with the flow! She could make herself comfortable anywhere!
As they all entered the building and took the elevator up, Dylan introduced each floor to them.
The floor they went to was a recreation area with seven or eight game rooms, as well as a billiards room, a table tennis room, and so on...
Dylan continued, "My mom also lives here.
I was poor before, but after I made it, I vowed to give my mom a good life!
My mom later suggested that I build a nursing home for elderly people who don't want to live with their children.
In that way, they can meet more people, be taken care of, enjoy the scenery, and live a comfortable life.
So, I set up this nursing home, and unexpectedly, it turned out to be quite a success".
After visiting the environment here, Victoria felt a little relieved.
