Chapter 10 #2
Soon after, Donnel and Kreegon disappeared, thus the new identities.
I also found a press release photo of the family just before the duo moved from Talmet to the US.
The four brothers were so similar, it was hard to tell them apart.
I’m not sure when or where, but both Donnel and Kreegon had facial reconstruction surgery.
Not much, but enough so that they were no longer recognizable as Donnel and Kreegon.
Kreegon was at college in New York when he was discovered by a modeling agent.
His career took off, then he got into acting from there.
We can’t find where Donnel worked before becoming his brother’s manager.
Another thing. The genus Corvus includes ravens, crows, and rooks.
I’m thinking Don Corvus was code for Donnel Crowley.
That could be a coincidence, but it fits.
Since Daniel didn’t order the drugs, someone else knows his true identity.
If that’s the case, it’s also possible whoever this is has it out for the Crowley brothers, thus Brad Campbell attacking Craig.
As for Campbell, his bank account hasn’t changed, meaning no large deposits.
He could have received cash for the attempt, but since we don’t technically have a case, we can’t search his home to see if we can uncover something the cops haven’t found. That’s all for now.
Both their phones buzzed at the same time. Since Major’s was on the table, he opened it showing a text to them both from Mason.
Mason: Just a heads up. One of Campbell’s foster brothers came forth with information.
This information does not exonerate Campbell, but it may shed light on why he went after Craig.
A deputy from DeKalb County is on his way to pick up Craig for questioning.
Since the case against Campbell is in Everett’s jurisdiction, he’s going to meet them at the justice building near Stone Mountain.
Major, Everett has already explained that you’re on guard duty, so they will allow you to follow in your vehicle.
“Craig is going to lose his mind,” Tabitha muttered as Major shot Mason a thumbs up in reply.
“You’re not wrong. I better go let him know.”
Tabitha stood, running her hand along Major’s beard. “I’m going back to my trailer in case Trista needs me. Let me know when you get back?”
Major popped a kiss to her lips. “You know it.”
Tabitha left first, her head on a swivel.
She didn’t know all the crew, but her instincts were good.
Plus, she had a beast inside whose were even better.
As soon as she was in her trailer, she texted the Trio, adding Major so he knew he didn’t need to, and told them about one of the foster brothers coming forward.
She then kicked back on the sofa with her e-reader to catch up on the latest series she’d been bingeing.
Before she got too engrossed, she used her shifter hearing to listen in on Trista and Marilyn.
She didn’t consider it eavesdropping but doing her job.
“What does it matter to you where we work? You get paid the same whether I’m in Atlanta or the Poconos,” Trista asked someone.
“I know how much you were looking forward to being the heroine. Plus, I would hate to see you shell out millions for breaking your contract,” Perry responded. From his lower tone, Tabitha ascertained they were speaking via telephone. She assumed he was on his return drive from the airport.
“I was looking forward to it, but knowing the script had already been rewritten doesn’t sit well with me.
What else are they going to change? I’ve already called Archer McMillen and asked to read for the Cabin role.
He was thrilled that I’m interested since Bailey Bradshaw had to back out.
As such, I called Adams and told him not to bother showing up. ”
“Why didn’t you have me call McMillen? That’s my job.”
“I did call you earlier, but you didn’t answer, so I handled it myself.”
“When and where are you going for the audition?”
“Marilyn and I are flying out in the morning. She already booked our flights to Pennsylvania. It’s a formality at this point. McMillen said the role is mine if I want it, and he’s a professional, unlike Craven. I’ll send you the contract to look over once I receive it.”
“Do you want me to meet you there?” Perry asked.
“It’s not necessary. Vanessa never traveled with me.”
“Fine, but call as soon as you have the contract. Trista, are you sure this is what you want to do? You’ve put so much time into Nora.”
“I’m sure.”
“Is Tabitha going with you?”
“No, which sucks. I really like her, but she wants to remain in Atlanta.”
“What are you going to do for security?”
“That’s your job, Perry. Maybe call McMillen or Roman Bane’s agent and ask who they use.”
“Okay. I’ll get right on that. I’ll let you know as soon as I find someone.”
“Thanks. Talk to you tomorrow.”
Trista deciding to switch films wasn’t a surprise, but she’d been busy setting up the new meeting while Tabitha had been busy in a different way.
She didn’t regret the quickie with Major.
She felt a tad bit guilty since they were on the job, but both clients were safe in their trailers, so not that guilty.
Tabitha’s phone buzzed. She smiled when Major’s nickname showed on the screen.
THM: Showtime, and Craig is seething.
Tabitha stood and opened her door, leaning against the frame. Major and Craig were waiting for the deputy, and when he approached, Craig held out his hand.
“Deputy, thank you for stopping by. I appreciate you offering to escort us for added protection.” Lowering his voice, Craig whispered, “Please go along with it until we get to the parking lot. I do not want reporters getting wind of the fact that I’m being questioned.”
The deputy inclined his head. “My pleasure.” He gestured for Craig to go ahead, and he and Major walked on either side of the actor. Plenty of crew were milling about, and everyone stopped to observe what was happening.
Sarah ran across the lot, tablet bouncing against her chest. “Craig, what’s going on?”
“Major and the deputy are escorting me to an offsite meeting. I won’t be gone long.”
“Meeting?” Sarah looked at her tablet, furiously tapping at it. “I don’t have you scheduled for a meeting.”
“It’s a last-minute one I scheduled myself. I’ll tell you about it when I return.” Craig continued walking, leaving his assistant staring at him, her mouth gaping.
Trista’s door opened, and she strode over to Tabitha. “Is he being arrested?”
“No. The deputy is here as a precaution,” Tabitha hedged. “Have you made a decision about the Poconos?”
“Yes. That’s what I was coming to tell you. Marilyn and I are flying out in the morning. If you would take us to the airport, I would appreciate it.”
“I can do that. Is Perry going with you?”
“No. He’ll go back to…” Trista frowned, looking past Tabitha’s shoulder. “Actually, I don’t know where his office is. Vanessa recommended him, and I didn’t ask any questions.”
“Do you know who his other clients are? Anything about his background?”
Trista refocused on Tabitha. “No, why?”
“Just curious.” Tabitha smiled, hoping to seem sincere. “I’m new to this world of yours. Never been behind the scenes and all that.”
Trista relaxed her shoulders. “Yes, well, the behind the scenes, as you say, isn’t glamorous. Except for training with Joey. That was fun. I’m hopeful that having that on my resume will lead to another role like Nora in the fu— What now?”
