Chapter 38

Ariel

The next week flies by. Teddy and I have been slowly getting to know each other again. Teddy continues writing me hand written letters. He’s serious about me this time. The letter I received this morning asked me to meet him by the barn, which is where I stand now waiting for him.

When he gets here, I can’t help my smile.

“You know a girl could get used to all these surprises .”

“As you should. Now take my hand so I can take you to our destination.” I listen and let him pull me to his truck, and drive us toward the surprise destination.

We stop in the middle of a field, and he opens the door for me while he walks me over to another field. I stop in my tracks when I see what it is. A field of daisies.

“You- you built me a field of daisies?” I have tears in my eyes. Then I look down and notice another thing. Two little stones. One with my dad’s name on it painted like the American flag. The other with “Daisy Rose” written on it with a pretty blue sky painted in the background, and under her name are two horses. A mamma horse and a pony. The tears slide down my face as I look back at teddy.

“You deserve a place to feel close to each of them. To come and talk to them. The daisies are for you to wish on.” He smiles so softly at me as he cups my face and wipes away my tears.

“You built me a field of daisies for me to wish on?”

“Isn’t that what I just said.” He laughs. “Baby you deserve a special place where you feel safe, and while I wish it were my arms, I know I hurt you, and that there will be times where you can have space for me if you wish.”

“I love you.”

“I love you too. I am a fool for not saying it sooner, and for pushing you away. My heart belongs to you in a way I didn’t think was possible. You Ariel Rose are the love of my life, and I promise to show you it with my actions for as long as I live.”

I reach up and kiss him.
