Ididn’t expect to be nervous. Confident-as-hell Laura getting nervous over selling a few scarves at her soulmate’s booth?

Couldn’t be me.

And yet here I am, practically trembling like a baby fawn in the woods. All because I’m sticking my neck out and showing the world the dream I’ve kept secret for so long.

Hazel’s new booth is only a couple down, and I actually told her via text that feeling her magic so close is comforting. Look at me admitting I love people and enjoy their reassurance.

Who is she?

My gaze flits across the smaller table I’ve set up next to Ash’s larger one, to where he stands talking to a potential customer only a few steps away.

I don’t think I’ll ever get used to the sight of him, to the way he makes me feel. Even now, when I spend basically all my time with his overgrown self, he can still catch me off guard with how happy he makes me.

Slush sticks to his boots, February snow persisting despite how ready everyone is for spring. And what a spring it will be. Draven has been quiet for now, but we all know that’s going to change sooner rather than later.

Hazel and I have agreed that finding our sister is important, but that we can’t force her to help us. We still want to know her, whether she fights alongside us or not.

Mom told us before I left the house that she didn’t get involved with the adoption further than signing over her legal rights, so we don’t have much to go on, but Hazel has been working with Grandma to figure out some sort of magical woo-woo to find her.

Which allows me to focus on my own little dream. The one I gave up on a long time ago.

“You ready, Goldilocks?” Ash sidles up next to me, winding his customary arm around my back. Electric sparks fizz along my skin like a familiar friend.

I nod. “Ready.”
