CHAPTER 25

KASON

MONTHS LATER

If someone had told me last year I’d be in a committed relationship with a woman I love, I would have told them there was a better chance of hell freezing over. I never expected Sierra, but hell if I’m not the happiest I can ever remember being in my life. I barely remember the days before that one night with her that changed everything.

Our team is kicking ass and taking names this season. With only one loss, which I, and most of America, blame the referees for, we are leading our division.

Sierra’s taking my time away for road games well, even when some weeks back, she was sick with a sinus infection. I felt awful when I had to leave, but my mom and Brook were there to help in my absence. It was the only time I regretted my career choice.

When I’m not playing the game I love, I’m with the woman I love. Fuck though if I don’t miss her when I’m on the road. Even when she’s been a bit moody like she has been this past week, that hasn’t stopped her from jumping on my dick every chance she gets. She’s insatiable. Not that I’m complaining.

Last night for instance; I walked into my bedroom, and she was sorting the hampers. I had thrown a black sock in the white clothes hamper and I received a lecture for about fifteen minutes on the importance of separating my whites from my colors. She also reminded me of when I ruined her cashmere dress, and that I need to up my laundry game.

Just when I thought she had no steam left, she whipped off her shirt and bra, and the next thing I knew, I was thrusting between her tits. What really stunned me though was she came from that alone. That was a first.

Sierra has been to every home game I’ve played and made it to two away games that weren’t too far away. Paparazzi take her picture every chance they get. When she kissed me outside the locker room, someone took a picture and sold it. It went viral because everyone wants more of the beautiful woman who has captured my attention. They’ve been kind so far, but one wrong move or rumor and that can change.

Brook was still living with Sierra and thriving until last Friday. Her mother stopped by Sierra’s apartment without warning and demanded Brook drop the assault charges on Trevor or tell the courts she lied and Trevor never hurt her. That caused a setback that Sierra and my mother helped her through. After that, my mom approached Sierra and Brook about Brook staying with her for the time being and all agreed it was a good idea. Mom and Brook were both going through hard times when they met, and I think that helped to forge a friendship with each other.

Trevor’s lawyer filed a continuance, so he’s still sitting in jail. I was happy the trial was pushed back because it means there’s a better chance of my season being over and I can be there for Sierra when she testifies. That asshole better hope we never meet up in a dark alley because just one of us will be walking out of it.

Simon continues to fight Mom over the divorce, more specifically the prenup, but she’s fighting back, no longer at his mercy. He’s only wasting what little money he may make after the divorce on pricey attorneys. Stupid idiot. Lately, the dickhead has been trying to contact me more often, but I send his ass to voicemail, and he never leaves a message. He doesn’t seem to be able to take the hint that I want nothing to do with him.

Sierra, however, is slowly coming to a point where she’s willing to meet with Charles again. Although it’s been months since she found out about him, she’s taking it at her own pace. They text now, but that is the extent of their relationship. Charles is giving Sierra the time to come to terms with it, and then he will tell his sons.

We play on Monday night this week, so I have a rare Saturday evening free. We’re currently sitting with Leo, Kylie, Nash, and my cousin Sophie after having dinner and coming to this club to celebrate. Nash and Sophie were married in Vegas. It was spur of the moment wedding, but they’ve known each other for ten years. Unfortunately, neither Sierra nor I made it. Sierra was helping Brook deal with her mother’s reappearance, and I was on the road for a game.

I’m nursing my beer while Sierra is on her third glass of wine. Any more and I won’t be letting her anywhere near my dick tonight. I learned my lesson with that the hard way. A drunk Sierra and blowjobs do not go well together.

She’s looking sexy as sin in her slim-fitting jeans and her off-the-shoulder white sweater. Of course, she’s also wearing her fuck me heels. I internally groan before thinking I may need to limit her alcohol consumption.

The girls have come back from the dance floor and sit to take a sip of their drinks when Sierra points a finger at Kylie. “If you think I haven’t noticed your vodka cranberries are more cranberry than anything else then you obviously don’t know me as well as you think you do. Spill it, Ky. ”

Kylie smiles wide and so does Leo before she squeals, “I’m pregnant! We just found out last week.”

“Oh my god. I knew it.” Sierra squeals too, right in my ear. She gets up and hugs both Leo and Kylie.

“Congrats,” I say and give my cousin a fist bump. Leo had told me they were trying. I know how badly he wanted this. He missed the first years of Riley’s life and the regret eats him up about it.

Sierra looks over at Sophia. “We have a baby shower to plan.”

Kylie holds up her hand in the stop motion. “Let’s get through the wedding first. Besides, this baby won’t be here for a long while yet.”

Their wedding is fast approaching. They’re getting married in the Bahamas at one of the Knight’s Resorts.

“How’s married life?” Sierra questions Sophie.

Sophie smiles lovingly at Nash, and he rubs his nose against hers. “I couldn’t be happier. With the wedding being so sudden, we haven’t had time to take a honeymoon but we’re planning to take a European tour soon.”

Maybe after my season is over, Sierra and I can travel somewhere. Just her and I alone together for a week or a month. Doesn’t matter to me as long as we’re together. I pick up her hand and kiss the back of it. Sierra smiles fondly at me. She loves the affectionate gesture.

I feel a hand on my shoulder, and when I look up, I see it’s attached to a blonde I know well. Brittanie. Unfortunately, I also know the brunette standing behind her. Holly.

“I haven’t heard from you in ages, baby. Where have you been hiding?” Brittanie coos, giving me a sultry smile. My gaze snaps to Sierra, and her shoulders are tense as she glares at the woman’s hand touching me.

Brittanie trails a finger down my bicep, and I tense. “Holly and I were just talking about you. It’s like you fell off the face of the earth. How about we get a drink at the bar and get reacquainted again? We had some fun times together. ”

Before Sierra, I would have taken her up on the offer. Now, it holds no appeal. Shit. There's no way Sierra would have missed what she said or her touch.

I yank my arm away and just as I’m about to tell the women to scram, I’m cut off by a threatening Sierra. “You best learn to keep your hands to yourself. Clearly you can see he’s with me, so move the hell along!” There’s venom in her voice I’ve never heard before.

Brittanie isn’t deterred though. “Relax, sweetie. No reason to be territorial. Kason doesn’t mind sharing. There’s enough of him to go around.” She winks at Sierra, then turns her head back to Holly. “Aren’t I right?”

Holly giggles. “He had no problem satisfying us both, but three might be a new challenge for him.”

Sierra’s face reddens with anger and stands with her fists clenched at her sides. She doesn’t deserve to have my past thrown in her face.

“Leave us—” I don’t get any more words out.

Sierra points a finger in their faces. “What the hell is your problem? Go proposition some other man.” She throws her arm in my direction. “This one is taken. Now move the fuck on before I punch your fake boob and bust the implant.”

The women’s eyes widen in surprise then Brittanie goes on the offensive. “Your man happened to like these boobs. In fact, he couldn’t get enough of fucking them.”

Sierra flies towards them, and I worry she may really punch her in the tit. I wrap my arms around Sierra from behind, making sure to keep her arms tight against her sides then look at the women. “Leave and don’t you fucking ever, ever disrespect my girlfriend again.”

“You know where to find us when you’re done with her. You know how much you like variety in women.” Holly grabs Brittanie’s hand and saunters off .

Sierra’s body is trembling with anger, so much so that I’m afraid to release her for fear she may storm off after them. “Let me go now!”

Reluctantly, I release her and she shifts around to me with a storm brewing in her eyes. Her finger is now pointed at me again. “Seriously, Kason. Am I going to continue to be accosted by your conquests? It was bad enough I had to deal with Meegan twice already,” she fumes.

“I know you’re mad, and I get it, but this wasn’t my fault.”

“Well, you shouldn’t have been wagging your dick all over town as if it were a free popsicle on a hot day for these women. If you had kept it in your pants, I wouldn’t have to deal with this shit!” She screams and throws her hands up in the air with disgust. There’s a ferocity in her loud voice I have never heard before.

I take a step back from this person who has somehow possessed Sierra’s body. I’ve never seen her so furious. I get that it sucks, and I’m not happy about it either, but it hurts that she would throw my past in my face. I haven’t been that man since I met her.

“You knew I had a past when you met me. I had nothing to do with those women coming up and saying shit. I was going to tell them to go the fuck away, but you chimed in first.”

“Maybe you shouldn’t have stuck your dick in their orifices, and they wouldn’t have come up to you wanting another round!” she yells.

My eyes bug out at her loud outburst then my lips thin. I feel like no matter what I say at this moment, it will be wrong. There’s no winning for me in this argument.

Kylie touches Sierra’s arm. “Um, I think you might want to take this conversation elsewhere. People are looking.”

Sure enough, when I look around, a couple of nearby tables have people gawking at the spectacle we’re making. Thankfully, they don’t have their phones out. I’ve been caught in positions before where people like to record on their phones. As it is, I pray they didn’t catch everything we said because Sierra screaming about my past sex life is a sure way to end up on Page Six.

What in the hell is wrong with her tonight? I’ve never seen her act this way.

I feel a hand grab my elbow and look at Leo. “How about we have a seat at the table and calm down.”

My gaze goes to Sierra who doesn’t look like she has let go of her anger yet. Well, now I’m angry at the spectacle she’s making of us. She’s taken this way too far.

Shaking Leo’s hand off me, I grab my keys from the table and snap, “When you’re ready to be sensible, you know where to find me.”

Then I storm out of the club.

This is the first time since we got together that I don’t want to be anywhere near her.
