CHAPTER FIFTEEN SEVEN #3

I followed his gaze to see Treasure was here with Mythic, Carter, Red, Cachet, and Epic.

It was like I no longer existed. He walked right past me to get to her.

I noticed he moved slowly when approaching her.

She gave him a tight smile, then went to his open arms. PJ was their cousin, so it wasn’t strange to see them here, but I knew this situation could be triggering for her.

Just that she came showed that she was progressing in her struggles.

As I turned away to head back to my seat, I stopped in my tracks.

Iesha was seated next to my mama. I never saw her come in.

As I bit my bottom lip, she smiled and made her way to me.

When she wrapped her arms around me, I knew all would be alright in my world .

. . at least emotionally. She was my peace.

I didn’t realize my peace was about to be shattered.

The screaming caused me to turn my attention toward Aunt Kema. Lema had come from the back, screaming and crying. “He’s gone! My brother is gone!”

I dropped to my knees and allowed the tears to fall down my cheeks.

This shit was heartbreaking. Somebody killed him, and we were going to fucking find out what happened.

Iesha got on the floor with me and wrapped her arms around me.

Not even her love could take this feeling away from me. It was sorrow, grief, anger, and guilt.

The wailing coming from our family was loud and strong. PJ was in our crew. We were all supposed to eventually chill out, settle down, have kids. He was only twenty-three or so. I hated that shit.

“I’m so sorry, Seven,” Iesha said in my ear.

I lifted my head to see her tears and hugged her back. If there ever was a time I needed her, it was now. I wanted to wild out and start fucking everything up. Her love and calm spirit kept me in pocket. Unfortunately, that wasn’t the case for Uncle Philly.

“Somebody fucked up! And when I find out who the fuck-up is, it’s gon’ be hell to pay!”

“Philly calm down, before the police come,” Aunt Kema said through her tears.

“I don’t give a fuck about the police! That’s my son in there! Some fucking body in this hospital killed him. I know that shit like I know my name is Philly. I’ll burn this muthafucka to the fucking ground to avenge my son’s death.”

Mr. Legend and Uncle Ryder put their arms around him, and it took Jericho, Vegas, and Jungle to help them get him out of here before the police arrested him.

Aunt Tiff, my mama, and Aunt Chas were all around Aunt Kema, Lema, and Kiana, trying to comfort them.

This shit wasn’t over. We weren’t going to take this lying down.

I walked over to where Mythic was. He wasn’t crying, but as I got closer, I could see him trembling.

It looked like his anger was about to take him out.

He took his blade from his pocket and put it in his mouth as Maui clung to him, crying her eyes out. I gently pulled her away from him. “Baby, go sit with Ashanni and Iesha. You need to get off your feet.”

She looked like she was going to topple over any minute.

She did as I asked her to. When I turned my attention back to Mythic, he said, “I wanna kill somebody. The hardest fucking part is that I don’t even know where to start.

It wasn’t like he was in ICU anymore. Anyone could have gone into that room.

We should have had somebody here on him overnight. Fuck!”

Watchful Eyes had said they would be on him, so I didn’t know what had happened.

Carter walked over and put his arm around his brother.

I wasn’t sure what he said to him, but it caused him to wrap his arms around him and lower his head to his shoulder.

I couldn’t do this. I needed to get out of here.

I hated being this emotional in front of everybody.

Although I knew no one would have a thing to say about my sensitivity in this situation, I was still completely uncomfortable.

I went to Iesha and grabbed her hand, pulling her from her seat.

“Can we get out of here?”

“Uhh . . . yeah. Okay.”

She turned around and grabbed her purse from the seat.

I walked off without her, because I felt like I couldn’t breathe.

I needed air. When I got to the elevator, she caught up with me.

My face was hot as hell, and I felt like I was suffocating.

Iesha stepped in front of me and said, “Seven, are you okay?”

I shook my head as she brought her hands to my chest and stared into my tormented eyes. “Breathe, baby. Calm down and concentrate on breathing. Close your eyes and take a deep breath and slowly let it out.”

I did as she said and could feel myself calming down just as the elevator doors opened. Royal stepped out of it with my sisters. I supposed Aaliyah was okay. When he looked at me, he yelled, “Fuck!”

I supposed him seeing me the way I was told him everything he needed to know.

Quickly moving past them, I got on the elevator with Iesha and headed to the first floor.

Once the doors opened, I practically ran until I got outside.

When Iesha caught up with me, I followed her to her car.

The minute she unlocked the doors, I got in the passenger seat and fell apart.
