Chapter 25

Kincaid.

Our security system notified me that the front door was open, meaning Nari was home.

Lately, I’d been the one who made it in first and found myself waiting on her because her days seemed to run longer than mine.

With the birth of our son only weeks away, I suspended travel and managed most of my business dealings via phone and email.

I refused not to be here just in case something happened.

Regardless of the support system we had in place, which consisted of my mother and hers, along with Darius and Alisha, I would never forgive myself if I were away and something happened to Nari or our son, or if I simply missed the birth due to business travel.

She assured me she would understand if I needed to be away, but I could also sense she was relieved when I promised to be home for the next few months.

I would have to settle back into my routine eventually, but by then, Nari and our son could travel with me when permitted.

But I also had to consider she now had a huge responsibility of her own with her foundation.

“I smell you all over the house.” She grinned, invading my personal space, making no apologies for the intrusion.

“I’ve been here for a little while.” I kissed the top of her head before addressing Conner, who followed Nari into the kitchen. He placed two boxes from Sweets-n-Stuff on the counter.

“Will you be needing me for the rest of the evening?”

“No, I’ve got it from here,” I said, offering him a nod, and Conner returned one.

“I’ll call you if I need you tomorrow. I was thinking about staying in.” Nari lifted her head from my chest, mumbling through thoughts of her plans for the next day.

“Have a good evening, Conner.”

“You too, ma’am.”

Soon after his final words, he was gone, and I gave my full attention to Nari.

“Long day?”

She pouted slightly. “Very. I want to change, curl up on the sofa, and do absolutely nothing.”

“Or you can change, curl up on the sofa, and do absolutely nothing while I help you relieve some stress.”

“That’s an offer I can’t refuse, but I’m sure you already knew that.”

“I was hoping.” I lifted her chin and delivered a kiss. “Go change and I’ll meet you down here.”

“You’re not going to change?”

I was out of my suit jacket before the commute home but was still in my shirt and slacks. I also removed my tie and undid the top two buttons of my shirt.

“No, I’m fine for now. My focus will be on you.”

“What if I decide I want my focus to be on you?” She arched her brow, pairing it with a smug grin while her hands began to roam, one landing just below my waist. I chuckled and kissed her once more.

“Then I’m sure my clothes won’t matter, considering you’re insinuating that you’d prefer me to be without them.”

“Good, at least we’re on the same page. What about dinner?”

“I assume you don’t feel up to cooking, so I will order something. What would you like?”

“Pizza, extra cheese, and breadsticks.”

She grinned, stepping away from me while I slipped my hand into my pocket to call in the order. Nari was on her way, but paused, peeking back over her shoulder.

“Get two large. I’m kinda hungry.”

“When are you not kinda hungry?”

“Pregnancy shaming is a whole thing, you know? You better be careful with that, buddy.”

I chuckled, watching as she stuck her tongue out and exited the kitchen.

By the time I placed our order, Nari returned wearing one of my T-shirts.

Her belly stretched the material, causing it to stop midthigh.

My dick inflated from the visual as I watched her cross the kitchen to remove a bottle of water from the refrigerator.

“You want one?”

When she turned to face me, my eyes remained focused, traveling the length of her body until they made it to her beautiful face again.

“What?”

“Nothing.”

“You’re looking at me strangely.”

“What’s strange about admiring my wife’s beauty?”

She blushed, rolling her eyes. “You already sealed the deal, Kincaid. Let’s not overdo it.” She lifted her left hand, wiggling her fingers.

I chuckled, raking my teeth over my bottom lip. “That’s an impossible request with you looking like that.”

Her eyes lowered to the swell increasing in my pants.

“Apparently. How about we do something about that?” Nari pointed with her forehead before leaving the kitchen.

My eyes remained trained on her body until she was no longer in sight.

When I joined her in the living room, her back was propped up on one arm of the sofa while her feet were planted flat, knees pointed toward the ceiling.

They gently fell outward as soon as she saw me.

I tilted my head to the side, taking in the view. “You’re not wearing anything under that?”

“Did you want me to?”

I shook my head softly before nearing my wife. One finger traced the line from her ankle along the inside of her thigh, stopping just before I reached my intended destination. I enjoyed watching how her body tensed and shivered while her eyes remained fastened to mine.

After a brief pause, I allowed the pads of my fingers to graze her lips, which were already glistening from her arousal.

At the same time, her back arched away from the sofa and Nari’s eyes slammed shut.

There was a brief moment where she trembled, and her lips parted, exhaling a labored breath as her eyes slowly peeled open, remaining low with the anticipation of what was next.

I delivered kisses along the same line my finger traveled, hovering above her center, knowing it was driving her crazy that I hadn’t touched her there again. Her body shuddered while she released my name.

“Yes, sweetheart?”

“Stop playing.”

I grinned, lifting my eyes to hers again. “You have to employ patience.”

“Kincaid!” Her voice was low but firm.

I chuckled, landing the first kiss. This never got old.

I swear I was addicted to everything about her.

My tongue caressed her folds, barely grazing her sensitive skin.

Her thighs moved in toward me, but I pushed them wide again before my tongue swiped her with a little more pressure.

It was a warning that I was about to do exactly as promised and help Nari relieve some stress.

By the time I finished, her back arched while she pushed through her second climax.

I continued the busy work of using both my lips and tongue to torment Nari even more, forcing an even greater release, not stopping until her body was loose and exhausted.

“You’re dangerous.”

“So are you.”

While she recovered, I undressed. Then my head pressed against her opening, but I didn’t enter her right away. Instead, I teased her with the tip and delivered tender kisses along her spine, which trembled with each one.

Nari pushed back against me, trying to force my entry, but I didn’t budge, which had a heated stare reaching me from over her shoulder.

I chuckled, shifting my hips, purposely rubbing her sensitive skin once more before thrusting inside.

She gasped as I felt her stretching around me, and I groaned from the depths I reached.

Nari pushed back against me with each thrust, a little too eager, which let me know this round would be quick.

If there were such a thing as heaven on earth, this damn sure had to be it.

A few hours later, we were both showered and changed.

I dressed in shorts while Nari was back in my T-shirt.

However, this time, she was wearing boy-cut lace briefs, which was a good move, considering she was straddling my waist while I stretched out on the sofa.

Nari was enjoying a second round of pizza like she hadn’t just finished off half of one not even an hour ago, followed by two cupcakes.

My sweet Nari was enjoying the freedom of indulging and blaming our son.

“Cast invited us to dinner at his place this weekend.”

“Really? Why?” She frowned, enjoying another massive bite and chewing slowly while she waited for my answer.

“He would like for us to meet a friend.”

“A friend?” Nari delivered a quizzical stare.

“Yes, a female friend I’m pretty sure he’s been dating consistently for the past few months, but refuses to admit she’s more than a friend.”

“Now, I’m positive the world is about to end. I was pretty sure Cast would die by the decree of hoe is life.”

I chuckled at the thought. “I would have to agree, but it appears someone has finally changed his mind. She’s older and not the type to settle for his typical behavior.”

“You’ve met her?”

“No, but I’ve been around when he’s talked to her on the phone.”

“How much older?”

“Not sure, why?”

“Because he seems like the type to get caught up with a cougar. I’m telling you, he was crushing on my mother. You sure she’s not this new friend?”

I laughed hard at the idea. “No, sweetheart. Your mother is practically joined at the hip with Abisai and Cast has always been respectful where she’s concerned. It’s most definitely not your mother and I’m sure she would have mentioned it to you if she were entertaining him.”

“Maybe your mother, but not mine.” She rolled her eyes and I grinned. Nari was mildly jealous of their relationship, which I understood because I felt the same feelings for the one she had with Endia. But we both understood the bonds were necessary.

“You should appreciate that they have each other.”

“I do.”

“Good because they’re good for each other.”

My phone rang and had me extending my arm over my head to retrieve it from the end table. I hesitated, not wanting to shift the mood of our evening after noticing the name, but if I didn’t answer, that would potentially create a bigger issue.

“Hello, Melissa, how are you?”

My eyes remained fastened to Nari and her expression stayed neutral while she finished the slice she was working on.

“Great. I hope I didn’t catch you at a bad time.”

“No, not at all. What can I do for you?”

She fumbled a bit before getting to the point. “So, as you know, my sister has been working toward finding balance in her life.”

“If you mean by receiving therapy, then yes, I’m aware.”

“Yes, and well, part of that is apologizing to those who you’ve wronged in the past so you can make peace and move on.”

“I wasn’t aware that was a stipulation of therapy. I would assume that falls more under the scope of a twelve-step program. Am I missing something?”

“No, it’s just a suggestion from her therapist, and I agree, but I didn’t think it would be well received, so I offered to deliver the message on her behalf.”

“I agree, and I appreciate your consideration, because it is a delicate matter.” My eyes lifted to Nari’s again and she was now frowning at me.

“Val is with me and has written out what she wants. So, on behalf of my sister, I would like to sincerely apologize to you and your wife. Val regrets any issues she may have caused due to her poor decisions and you will never have to be concerned with any future issues.”

“Although it wasn’t necessary, I appreciate the sentiment and will pass it along to my wife.”

“Great, well. . . . won’t keep you, and she really is better. I promise.”

“That’s good to hear. I wish her well.”

“Thanks, Kincaid. Take care.”

I ended the call, prepared for Nari’s questions.

“What was that about?”

“Part of Val’s therapy was to extend an apology to those she’s wronged in the past so she could move forward with her life in a better headspace. Melissa didn’t feel it was a good idea for her sister to speak directly to me, so she delivered the apology on her sister’s behalf.”

“Hmm,” was all she offered before leaning toward the table to drop the crust of the slice she’d just finished before lifting another. I quickly moved to place my hands on her hips to ensure she didn’t tumble over.

“That’s it?”

“I mean, yeah.”

She lifted one shoulder into a shrug. “I still don’t like the woman, but at least she’s smart enough to get help and move on. It wouldn’t work in her favor if she didn’t.”

“That’s admirable of you.”

“Fuck admirable. That’s my warning. No more passes to her or any other of your past ‘space fillers.’”

“Space fillers?” My eyes flashed with amusement as I lowered my hands to her stomach. I could see the impression of one of our son’s tiny limbs shifting beneath her skin. The thought of her carrying a life that we created still affected me in ways I couldn’t explain.

“Yep. Space fillers. You belonged to me, even when you didn’t.”

I laughed, squinting. “Then why so much running and uncertainty in the beginning?”

She shrugged again, smiling behind her slice. “Because them hoes were disrespectful and I was intimidated by everything that you are.”

“And now?”

“Now, I know who’s running shit. It just took some time for me to settle into my role, but you know what’s up,” she teased, flexing.

I chuckled, amused by her newfound confidence.

“Indeed, I do.”
