Chapter 5

With a Harry Potter movie playing in the background, I was in my home office coloring.

I was glad to have picked the hobby back up.

It took my mind off the thoughts that lingered.

Since my coffee date with Nashton two days ago, he had been on my mind too.

He’d also been calling and texting me throughout the day, and I loved that.

I was glad to have an early day at work.

As soon as I got off, I took a shower and headed into my office to color.

That was how I relieved stress. I glanced over at Pinks, who rested on her bed that was in the corner of the room.

She was asleep with her head resting on her paw.

I smiled and reached for my phone to snap a few pictures.

I’d be loading them onto her Instagram account.

With my phone in my hand, it rang. I eyed the screen, seeing Nashton’s name on it. With a smile, I answered.

“Hey, Nash.” He told me to call him Nash. Although he liked Nashton, everyone called him Nash.

“Wassup, beautiful? How was work?”

“It went by fast, and I’m happy to be off early. What about you? Are you at the gym?”

“Nah. I’m home. I wanted to ask you something though.”

I lifted an eyebrow and sat up straight in my chair. “Okay. What’s that?”

“What are your plans for the rest of the day? If you don’t have any, what do you say to us hanging out together?”

“I would love to,” I blurted.

I didn’t even have to think about that. Since our coffee date, I often wondered when I’d see him again.

If he hadn’t called, he probably would’ve seen me at the gym.

Still, I’d rather see him outside of the gym too.

New beginnings for me were all I could think about.

I didn’t want my mind to wander back into the past again. If I kept looking forward, I’d be okay.

“Okay. Do you mind if I come pick you up?”

“No, I don’t mind at all,” I stated before giving him my address. Since I had already taken a shower, the only thing I had to do was freshen up.

“Okay. I’ll see you soon, beautiful.”

Once the call ended, I got up from the desk, causing Pinks to lift her head.

“Guess what?” I said to her, causing her to look at me. “I got a second date.” While I did a small dance, she only stared before getting up and walking out of the office. The only thing I could do was laugh at her. Pinks was too much.

It took nearly an hour to get ready since I had to do something with my wig.

I curled it and wore it half up and down.

I decided on a white and gray sundress with wedges since the weather was nice today.

Since Nash loved the watermelon perfume I had on for our coffee date, I sprayed some of that on me.

I picked my phone up and snapped some pictures of myself. I’d be uploading it to my social media accounts. It had been a while since I had felt this pretty. I wish my parents could have seen me. Nope. I refuse to let my mind go there. With a deep breath, I sucked it up as my doorbell rang.

My heart throbbed in my chest as I made my way out of the bedroom. With long strides, I made it to the door and opened it. I reared back in shock as I stared at Nashton. I had never seen anything that looked so good. He hadn’t worn basketball shorts today. He wore a white t-shirt, jeans, and a hat.

The only thing we did was stare at each other for a moment.

“It’s taking everything not to pull you into my arms and give you a kiss,” he stated, taking me by surprise. “Damn, you look beautiful.”

It surprised me that I wanted a kiss from him. It wasn’t one-sided.

“A little kiss never hurt anybody,” I teased, trying to laugh it off.

Nash’s eyes darkened. “There wouldn’t be anything little about the kiss I give you.”

That shut my mouth right up. I gulped as I watched him enter my house and close the door behind him.

It was this attraction I felt for him so soon.

I was just getting to know him and already wanted to feel his lips on mine.

Never had I ever moved this fast with a man before.

What was it about Nash that had me acting up like this?

He narrowed his eyes as he stepped closer to me and cupped my face in his large hands.

My eyes fluttered closed when he lowered his head to kiss my lips.

When our lips touched, I moaned, unable to control it.

Yeah, there was nothing little about the kiss he’d planted on my lips.

He ended the kiss too soon and took a step back.

“I’m trying to be a gentleman here,” Nash confessed, running a hand down his face.

“I understand. Let’s go,” was my only reply. I knew if we stayed longer, there was no telling what would have happened.

Nashton had me feeling things I thought I locked away.

After Jonathan cheated on me, I never wanted to have feelings for another man ever again.

That was like me taking a chance on having a relationship again, only to get burned.

I didn’t want that to happen to me. It would crush my already broken heart.

Still, I was ready to pick up the pieces in my life.

It was time anyway, which was why I was all for new beginnings.

After I locked my house, we held hands all the way to his car. He opened the passenger side door for me.

Nash groaned. “You’re going to get me in trouble.”

I giggled since I had done nothing. “If you say so.”

With a shake of his head, he closed the door and walked to the driver’s side of the car.

I sent a quick text to Farrah to let her know where I’d be and included my location.

It wasn’t the fact that I didn’t trust Nash, but I didn’t know him very well.

Still, as I got to know him, I felt safe with him. I had a feeling he wouldn’t hurt me.

“Are you going to tell me where we’re going?” I questioned when he backed out of my driveway.

“Are you a wine drinker?” he asked, taking a right turn.

I nodded. “I’ve drank wine before, but I’m not a heavy drinker.”

“That’s good to know. I wanted to try this new place that’s just opened. They do wine tasting, and I thought that’ll be something you’ll like.” He stopped at the traffic light and turned his head to look at me.

I smiled. “Yes, that’ll be something I like.”

“Good. I’m glad to hear it.”

Nash turned on the radio, and Big X played in the background. I enjoyed his music, but it wasn’t something I listened to on a daily.

“Is Big X your favorite rapper?” I asked him.

Nash frowned and shook his head. “Nah, but he’s a good rapper. Do you have a favorite rapper or singer?”

I shook my head. “No. I just like all types of music as long as it’s good. I’m always jamming to gospel music too.”

Nash laughed. “I feel you on that.”

I yawned and rested my head on the headrest. Tiredness hit me out of the blue, and that wasn’t good, especially when Nash wanted to drink wine. I could easily fall asleep on him.

He glanced over at me before he turned his attention back to the road. “I see you with white or gray on all the time. Are those your favorite colors?”

I smiled. “They are. I love them. What’s yours?”

“Green.”

I frowned slightly. “I don’t know why I thought you would’ve said black.”

He laughed. “Nah, I’ll stick to green.”

We shared a laugh.

For the rest of the ride, we enjoyed a comfortable silence.

When we arrived at Uniquely Winery Vines, it was packed. My eyes ballooned after seeing as many cars as I did. He found a park, parked his car, and turned it off. Nash glanced over at me and smiled. I could look at the smile on his face every day, all day.

“You weren’t lying when you said it just opened. Look at all these cars,” I stated.

Nashton chuckled. “That’s not going to stop anything. Not what I have planned anyway.”

I raised an eyebrow as I turned to stare at him. “Oh, yeah? What do you have planned?”

He winked. “You’ll see.”

I guess it was best I just wait it out and see what Nashton was up to.

“Just to let you know, I can be very impatient.” I really want him to tell me now.

He cackled. “I can see that. Are you ready to get out of the car?”

I nodded and unbuckled my seatbelt.

“Please don’t touch that door handle.”

I threw my hands up and laughed. “Oh, trust me. I won’t.”

Nash got out of the car and came around to open the door for me. He played no games when he didn’t want me to touch the door. I had no problems with that at all. I could get used to this whenever I was with him.

He helped me out of the car and held a hand around my waist. “Damn, I want another kiss.” His eyes dropped to my lips as I shivered. “May I have one?”

I chuckled. “You don’t have to ask. Just go right ahe—”

Nash didn’t give me a chance to finish what I had to say.

He lowered his lips to mine and pecked my lips twice before he sucked on my bottom lip.

I shuddered against him, wanting him to do much more to me.

There was no denying it. I was horny and hadn’t had sex in almost a year.

My coochie was throbbing right now from having his lips on mine.

If only he could attack my lower lips. I snatched my mouth from his. Lawd, my thoughts were running wild.

I took a step back and fanned myself, trying to get myself together. Nash did something to me without trying. Just being in his presence had my mind all over the place. The thoughts that ran through my mind were too naughty, even for me.

“Now, I’m ready to go,” he voiced and grabbed my hand in his. “Whatever perfume you have on smells good.”

I looked over at him and smiled. “Thanks.” As much as I wanted to tell him that I wore it with him in mind, I didn’t.

He held the door open for me, and I sauntered in and waited for him. The smell was divine with different wine scents.

The hostess came with a smile on her face. She held a folder in her arms. “Hey! Welcome to Uniquely Winery Vines. How many will be joining you?”

“It’s just us,” Nash stated.

“Okay. Do you have a private room, or will you be getting a booth or table?”
