Zephyr Chapter 13 #3

When we finally both stopped coming, I slumped over her back.

I tried not to put too much weight on her, but both our legs were weak.

Her whole body shook beneath mine. I wrapped my arms around her middle.

I kissed my way from her middle back to her shoulder, then up to her ear.

As I reached it, I knew what I had to do.

“I love you,” I said.

I jerked in surprise because, at the exact same time I said those three words, she said the same ones to me. Everlyn’s head was turned to the side, glancing back at me. Her eyes were wide.

“Do you mean it?” I asked.

“I do, as crazy as it is. Do you?” she asked weakly.

“I’ve never meant anything more,” I assured her.

“Thank God,” she said as she closed her eyelids.

I did the same and sent up a prayer to the gods for blessing me.

?

Everlyn and I ended up having sex—no—it was making love three times last night. Thankfully, we weren’t riding much today, or she’d be hating life when she was done. When we got up, we met our housemates in the living room/kitchen combo.

Right before we left our room, Everlyn grabbed my arm, halting me. There was a look of uncertainty on her face.

“What’s wrong?” I asked.

“We were loud last night. What if the others heard us? Oh, God, I hope we didn’t keep them awake. Fenrir won’t let me forget it if we did. And he’ll love telling the whole club. I may have to cut out his tongue.”

She started out sounding concerned and ended up coming across as teasing. I brought her tight against my side.

“We were loud. And they probably did hear us, but I can assure you, they’re jealous, not angry at us. And if Fenrir teases you too much, I’ll hold him so you can take his tongue. Although they’ll probably tell the others, it’ll be due to jealousy that I have you and wish they were me.”

“You say the sweetest things. I don’t know about being jealous of you because you have me, but that’s too sweet.”

My words earned me a kiss that began to heat my blood, but she stopped before we got revved up again. We entered the living room holding hands and smiling.

“Look at them, so damn lovey-dovey. And we all know they raised the roof last night. I hate them,” Fenrir grumbled as soon as he spotted us.

Slayer smacked him on the back of the head.

“Hey, what was that for?” Fenrir protested.

“For being a cretin and saying that. Couldn’t you pretend you heard nothing?” Slayer admonished him.

“Or at least not make it the first thing out of your mouth?” Spoiler added.

“Fenrir, I’m remembering this. I told Zephyr that if you teased me, I’d have to cut out your tongue. He promised to help hold you. But now, I have a better payback,” Everlyn informed my best friend sweetly. Her cheeks were barely tinged with pink.

“Oh yeah, and what would that be? Come on, show me what you’ve got. Wanna go a few rounds?” he asked.

He put up his fists and hopped around like an idiot as he grinned at her, making us all laugh at him.

“I don’t want to make you cry, so I’ll pass.

Instead, when you bring a woman to meet the club because you’ve gotten all serious about her, I’m going to wait and do the same thing to you.

Tease you about all the noise the two of you make.

Oh, and if Zephyr will tell me your embarrassing secrets, I’ll tell her those, too.

Plus, whatever else I think up. Be afraid,” she taunted him.

I noticed a brief flash of hope, followed by pain, on his face before he masked it.

I knew he was in the same boat I’d been in, and the rest of the club was, before I met Everlyn.

We didn’t believe that we’d be blessed, and if we were, what if they couldn’t handle the truth?

Shit, I had to figure out how to tell Everlyn and when.

She loved me. Would it be enough to keep her?

Fenrir grabbed his chest, gasped, pretended to stagger, then fell onto the couch as he whined. “Everlyn, you’re killing me! You can’t. If you do, I’ll never get over it. You wouldn’t wound me like that, would you? I’m your favorite,” he whined.

The next five minutes or so were filled with banter and laughter. Eventually, we grew serious.

“I don’t know about you, but I’m starved. Let’s see what we have in the refrigerator,” I suggested.

“There’s bacon and eggs, and pancake mix plus fresh blueberries,” Slayer informed me.

“Do all the cabins have the same thing? If so, we should consolidate it and make breakfast for everyone instead of three different groups doing it, don’t you think?” My woman suggested.

“Let me see if they’ve already eaten or not,” I told her as I took out my phone. I sent off a quick text message to Raider and Harbinger.

Me: Have you all eaten? If not, wanna bring your bacon, eggs, fresh fruit, and pancake mix to our cabin and we’ll cook and eat together?

It took mere seconds to get answers.

Raider: No, we were just starting to decide. Sounds like a good idea. Be there in 5.

Harbinger: Hell, yeah, we’re coming. Don’t start without us.

When I finished reading off their replies, everyone was chuckling over Harbinger’s answer.
