Isidoro #4
I dive right back in, his words like fuel to the fire.
His body responds in turn, tense and pulsating with need that matches in desperation mine.
I’ve never needed to kiss someone as much as I need to kiss him.
This is new to me, novel and unknown, but I am powerless against it even as a part of my brain tells me I should probably stop.
His teeth graze mine as his tongue welcomes me again. This time I’m slower as I explore his mouth, taking my time to thoroughly claim every inch. By the time I’m done, Julian is the most breathtaking mess, flushed and dazed as I pull away.
He gazes at me, something tender crossing his gorgeous features. Warmth explodes in my chest, burning me alive, yet I don’t find it in me to fight it.
“I really thought I was going to die,” he says, his Adam’s apple bobbing. “Thank you.”
I press my index finger to his lips, wet and swollen from our kiss. He licks the digit tentatively, his eyes darkening fast. “We are even now,” I say, probing his incisors.
He lets me, flushing like a tomato. “Yeah, right, of course. You owed me from earlier. That’s why you did it, duh.”
Humming, I tuck locks of his inky hair away from his pretty face. He tracks the movement with his eyes, specks of desire lingering in their reflections.
Gods, he’s devastating. Achingly beautiful.
Slowly, I stand, the world still tilted on its axis. Sharp pain spears my side, the reopened wound bleeding when I check on it.
“He got you too, huh?” Julian laughs with no humor, hissing as he dabs his injured thigh with two fingers. “What the fuck was that thing?” He groans, propping himself up with the help of the column. He steps closer to the edge of the ramp and looks down at the dead creature, scrunching his nose.
I reach for my phone. It’s not in my pocket. “We need to get to the car and call in a team.”
His eyes dart to mine, and he licks his lips as he nods. “Yeah.”
“Can you walk?”
He takes a tentative step, wobbling. “Maybe in another hour or so.”
I scan him from head to toe. There are cuts and bruises all over him, some deep, others even deeper. They’ve started to heal already, but that nasty injury to his hip is going to take a while. Unless…
I poke my bleeding flank, collecting some of the red fluid onto my fingers. Then I bring them to his mouth. “Lick.”
His eyes go wide. “Excuse me?”
“My blood. It should help speed things up. We need a team down here immediately. Who knows if more like that thing are lurking about?”
“No, sorry. This is such a bad idea. I refuse.” He shakes his head, the red returning to his cheeks.
I prop my hands on my hips, wincing a little, and stare at him in confusion. “I need you back online, Julian. This is the fastest way.”
He rolls his eyes, testing his balance. He sways, almost sending himself over the edge, but I react just in time, pulling him to my chest. Grinning, he looks at me once he’s stable again.
“My blood in your mouth. Now,” I demand, shoving my finger at him.
“No, you don’t get it!” He pushes off me.
“What don’t I get?” I sigh, my patience running thin. I’m in pain, he is too. There might be danger around us still, so why is he being such a frustrating brat?
He averts his eyes, puffing out his cheeks. Then he exhales slowly, clenches his hands into fists and looks at me. “If I taste your blood, I might want to kiss you again.”
I tilt my head to one side, waiting for the rest. When it doesn’t come, and instead his flush just grows further, my heart skips a beat. Oh, I see.
Smirking, I step closer, my dick taking interest. “Yes? So now that you’ve kissed me twice, you want more, is that it?”
He takes a step back, wobbling with his palms open. “I mean… Technically, you were the one who kissed me… Both times.”
I raise an eyebrow. His back hits the support column, deciding his fate. He’s trapped now. “Don’t be a brat. You were practically begging for it. You said so yourself.”
“No such thing happened,” he argues, his scent intensifying. Oh, is he enjoying this?
My arms cage him on both sides. I breathe him in, unable to help myself. Gods, how can someone so infuriating be so damn enticing? “If you so insist.”
“Yes, I do, in fact, insist.”
Chuckling, I push my red-covered finger past his lips. His eyes flicker closed and he licks it greedily, leaving no trace of my blood on it. When our gazes clash again, I barely resist the craving to ravage his smart mouth.
“Let’s go. You should be fine to walk, or would you rather stay here with the creature’s body?” I say, heading back toward the spice factory. “Also, may I remind you that you have a meeting at S&S’ new headquarters? You wouldn’t want to miss it.”
He gasps and pushes off the column, struggling to catch up. “No, no. There’s no way I’m missing that. I moved it once already because you were gone for a fucking week! What time is it even? Please, don’t tell me we’re going to be late! Get your team over here and let’s head back already!”
Once we reach the car, I relay my orders, getting people here within twenty minutes.
The body is extracted and loaded onto a helicopter, which will take it down south to Mexico for an examination.
I’ve no idea what this thing was, but I intend to find out, because my hunch tells me that it might be our next clue in this murder mystery.
