“I bet you do. ‘Bittersweet Symphony’ is their most popular song.” I blurt, “Bono once said it’s one of seven songs he wishes he had written.
‘Lucky Man,’ I mean, not ‘Bittersweet Symphony,’ which was partly written by the Rolling Stones.
” Stop talking, Henry. You sound like a nerd with an annual pass to the Rock he calls it his introduction to the term “fiery redhead.” “He’s a studio musician who mostly does production now.
He works in London and Dublin a lot. My parents were both raised near Dublin, so work made it easier to spend summers in Ireland with my grandparents. ”
“What’s the song for a summer in Ireland?” she asks.
“That’s an epic saga of a playlist, not a song.” I enjoy talking to her about music. She never seems like she wants to be doing anything else when we’re having a conversation.
“One good song, then,” she says.
Her curiosity sends a course of warmth through me. “‘Angel’ by Gavin Friday,” I say. “And anything by The Devlins.”
“You didn’t say U2.”
