Chapter 2

Charlene

When I pull the covers back to reveal the body under the covers, I am in awe of the body I see that is attached to the man who is in a coma with the left side of his face black and blue-almost a deep purple.

This poor man had been dragged into the emergency by a white woman and black man and just dumped on the floor and the two people ran away before anyone could question them in any manner.

How could anyone do such a thing? The event was recorded by video cameras in the emergency. The faces of both people were clearly recorded. The gloss black Escalade with gold plated rims was also recorded pulling away from the entry camera.

There was a home address and home phone number in the man’s wallet that was used in an attempt to reach his wife that was listed as his emergency contact. But there has been no answer and no contact although a dozen messages were recorded on his home phone voice mail.

My heart goes out to this gorgeous man. I wonder what on earth anyone could ever do to deserve the damage that was done to this man. Right now the police is trying to find those two people. At the very least, they are guilty of Reckless Disregard or Depraved Indifference.

This man, named Jack nearly slipped away while in the emergency room. Quick work by the doctor in charge and nurses saved his life. But he presently is in an induced coma to allow his brain to recover from the damage that was done to his left side.

We really won’t know the extent of his brain damage until he awakens and begins to try to communicate. The left side of the brain controls the movements of the right side of the body. It also controls:

Logic and Reasoning

Number skills

Analytic Thought

Language comprehension and speech

Sequential Thinking

Creative Thinking

We will not know the true damage till Jack wakes

up and can try to communicate with us.

Jack

I am in a very dark tunnel. I hear sounds around

me but can’t quite make them out or understand them. Now and then, I feel something pulling on my eyelids and then bright flashes of light.

From time to time I hear the grumble of a man’s voice but cannot put together what he is saying. The same thing is true of the soft woman’s voice that I hear way back in the back of my mind.

I have no concept of time. I just float around in this darkness until I feel someone probing at me and flashing light in my eyes. It amazes that I can identify the smell of Honeysuckle every time I hear the woman’s soft silky voice.

Every now and then, I feel a throbbing between my legs.

Then, to my utter surprise I feel the most delicious warm wetness encasing my throbbing member and the exquisite sense of release when it is over.

I notice that the throbbing has gone away.

Then, I hear the soft angelic voice of that women who smells like Honeysuckle but can’t put together what she is saying to me.

It has been 30 days now since Jack was dumped in the emergency room. Today, Dr. Kilroy has ordered that Jack be brought out of the induced coma. Within several hours, he should wake up and begin the process of the three stages of coming out of the coma.

Three Stages of coming out of coma

1) Emergence: Gradually waking up regaining consciousness and response to stimuli

2) Regaining Cognitive Function: A discovery period that will form what therapies are needed. Speech therapy, occupational therapy, physical therapy…all depending on how much the brain has been damaged.

3) Emotional and Psychological Support: Counseling and psychological therapy.

All of this will depend on the damage that was done and finding what will be necessary to create recovery.

Once Jack was fully awake, the first words out of his mouth were… “My gawd you are pretty.” That was followed by… “When can I eat? I’m starving.” This is a good sign that he may have a full recovery.
