Chapter 4
Jack
Half an hour after I awoke, a doctor came to see me. After a quick once over, he told me about my surgeries. He told me it would take ten days to two weeks for the pain of the broken ribs to go away.
He joking asked how big the bear was that attacked me. When I heard a soft giggle from the corner of the room, I looked over and saw Piper sitting there. I hadn’t noticed her because I dozed for a bit after I came out of the coma.
After the doctor left the room, Piper came to the bed and held my hand. “I have been here for four days. I refused to leave until you woke up,” she told me.
“Where is Ally? Why did she not come after what that thug did to me?” I asked angrily.
“She called me the morning after the incident.
She said that she was beside herself that you got hurt.
She said that she never meant for anything to happen to hurt you.
She also said that she was leaving you for that smug son of a bitch.
“Where is my cell phone? I have audio proof of them having sex in that restroom in the dance club? “I don’t know Jack. It was not with your things when you were admitted into the hospital.
I felt my heart sink when she said my cell was missing. Without that, she will be able to take half of my large bank account and even larger savings account. “I don’t care how this all turns out Jack. I want you to know that I am with you. I will stay by your side no matter what,” she stated.
When Piper kissed me torridly, it made my nose and ribs hurt like hell. But I was happy inside that I had someone in my corner. Someone who cared about me.
It was just after dinner time that Piper finally went home to get some rest. I was watching a crime drama on the room’s TV when a soft spoken voice asked if she could come in.
I had no idea who this woman was or the man that followed her into the room when I said yes.
“Mr. Raylar, we were at the club when you were attacked. We video recorded every minute of the attack and what happened afterward.” The man announced.
“When the EMT people wheeled you out of that hallway, they left your cell phone on the floor. We have that to give back to you as well.” the woman added.
I was incredulously amazed by this info. Now I will have the proof I need to get out of a bad settlement with Ally. Now, I will have proof to sue the hell out of Jerry. Now I have proof that could possibly cost them both their jobs.
“I am so happy I could just jump out of this bed and hug you both,” I blurted out.
“Unfortunately these broken ribs will negate that possibility,” I told them.
“We are just glad we were there to witness and video what happened to you. We are happy that we could do something to help you,” The woman said.
When I went to sleep after being given sleep aid pills, I felt a good measure of hope inside. Number one, I have proof of what exactly happened to me and the fact that my wife cheated on me.
Number two, I have a wonderfully gorgeous young woman who cares about my wellbeing and about being available to support me. I fall asleep smiling. She said that no matter what she will be by my side. As I drift off, I have visions of her by my side in my bed at home.
