5. Beast

Chapter Five

BEAST

Cut that niggas throat! I shook that voice that had been annoying the fuck out of me lately.

I stood in the shadows of my warehouse all the way in the back as Stone and Teflon beat the brakes off this cat named Larry.

He used to be good peoples, a friend of the family.

I let him run one of my restaurants to provide for his family while my crew moved major weight through the back.

The restaurant was considered a five-star place in Hollywood.

I didn’t too much show my face unless a motherfucker owed me money.

If my brother or my men couldn’t get shit straight or together, I stepped in.

I was trying my hardest to collect my percentage from the drug game and stay a silent partner in it but Teflon let shit fly too much for my liking.

I side-eyed him as he gave a light punch to this niggas gut.

Shaking my head, I stepped into the light.

That nigga is probably in on the shit! You need to kill him too.

I didn’t feel like arguing with myself but I would be a liar if I said that voice didn’t affect me.

Some things it told me, I often acted out on.

Today was one of the days I left my medicine at home.

I also wanted to balance myself and come to grips with controlling my thoughts, but today it was fucking with me in the worse way.

I kept seeing Nia popping up. I knew it was fake but it seemed real.

I didn’t want to look like a lunatic in front of my men so I battled hard all day with it.

I hated this shit more than I hated a motherfucker trying to play with my money.

“That’s enough boys,” I spoke calmly as I watched Larry struggle to pick his head up thanks to Stone. Larry’s whole face was swollen and his eyes were damn near closed as blood dripped from his mouth rapidly.

“Be-Be-Beast, man please don’t kill me. My-my-my wife has cancer man!

I was going to give the money back to Teflon!

I’m so fucking so-so-sorry,” he cried out in agony as I chuckled lightly.

Niggas always crossed you, then wanted to beg for mercy in the end, as if they didn’t think of the consequences, to begin with.

I didn’t want to kill Larry off the strength of my mom.

She liked playing cards every Friday night with his wife Rebecca.

I had to teach him a lesson that Teflon couldn’t seem to handle.

“I had to drive four and a half hours from Vegas to see about you, my man. I know you know I kill niggas for less.”

I pulled my nine-millimeter from the back of my Levi’s and tapped my forehead with it.

“You telling me you willing to die over six thousand dollars, Larry? You couldn’t come to me as a man and ask? I was planning on helping your wife out when she told my mom about the cancer shit.”

He cried harder as I walked up to him and whacked him with the butt of my pistol. He yelped then choked on his own blood then passed out from the pain.

“That’s enough Beast. You gon’ kill him or give him brain damage. He’s an older man, don’t do him like that!”

See I told you! You need to slit his fucking throat. He’s betraying us! The voice yelled in my head, causing me to grow angrier. Without thinking, I turned the gun towards Teflon and his eyes grew out of its sockets.

“Is you crazy nigga?!”

I nodded my head yes, there was no denying it at all.

“You better use that bitch cause I ain’t no puss…”

I smacked him as hard as I could with the butt of the gun as I watched him fall hard on the ground. Now kill him! Straight dome shot! We are better without him! We can love him from the grave!

“I can’t! That’s my fucking brother! Now shut the fuck up!”

Before I realized I was talking out loud to myself it was too late. It caused Stone's eyebrows to go up. Ignoring his reaction, I squatted down to become at eye level with Teflon.

“I am crazy, Tef. I’m crazy about my money, my respect, and my gang.

This whole operation is a smooth one and it will be a lot smoother if you freeze that fucking heart of yours and stop wearing it on your sleeve.

I love you my nigga. You got my blood in you, but on Piru, if you ever fucking speak out of term, disrespect me, and not take care of business then yes, I’ll really use my bitch and kill you where you stand.

Now I don’t ever want to have this fucking conversation with you again nigga.

Get this nigga cleaned up and talk to him good!

That six thousand is coming out of your fucking pay. ”

Wiping my gun on his all-white Versace shirt, I stood up and motioned for Stone to come with me.

I needed to get back to Vegas ASAP. Tomorrow was Kayori’s first day watching over my daughter and I needed to see how she did.

My trust was not there when it came to anyone.

She was very observant and very quiet. Her personal life didn’t have anything to do with me but I wanted to know everything it was about her since she would be hands-on with my kid.

That was why I stuck one of my associates, Don, on her the night at the club.

Hoping in my Rover, I sparked up a blunt and leaned my head on the headrest. I needed to get control over my mental.

I almost killed my brother. Truth be told, I wanted to kill him and I shouldn’t feel that inside of me.

My thoughts got dark at times, so dark I would become disgusted with myself for thinking such things.

I almost lost control. I wanted to stop and spend time with my mom but I needed to get back to Vegas and take my medicine ASAP.

“Yo you good blood?”

Stone was more of a brother to me than Teflon.

I loved my brother Teflon we just didn’t have the same mind frames.

I respected him for who he was, I just couldn’t get down with his thought process.

It would’ve been more disrespectful if Larry was woke when Teflon stepped in the middle of his discipline.

I wanted to kill Larry. I had killed for less.

I just didn’t want to do it because I thought of his whole situation and placed myself in his shoes.

Love would make you do crazy things. He stole because he did truly want to help his wife without knowing I would’ve helped.

However, he stole from the wrong fucking person.

I was a zero-tolerance nigga. It’s how I kept shit in check.

Teflon didn’t know it, but I counted every single dollar from every business and street endeavor I had going for myself.

I made at least a million or sometimes more a month and I still acted as if I only had a couple of dollars to my name.

“Yea I’m good man. I just need to chill out for a couple of days. Business has been crazy.”

Nodding his head, he left it alone and I appreciated that as I hit my blunt.

Out of my mom and Stone, they were the only two people that knew about my mental state.

Laquanna kind of knew because she would always trigger that voice inside my head.

She would witness me zone out at times and ask if everything was ok.

She didn’t know what was the real problem with me.

When she would get mad, she would simply call me a crazy bastard.

I used to battle with the voices when I was in ninth grade.

Stone picked up on it then and told me his mom had the same problem.

I’ve been diagnosed with paranoid schizophrenia and some other shit, but I was for the most part in denial.

I knew I had a good hold over it. Sometimes it took triggers like certain people to cause me to have small episodes like the small one I had in the warehouse.

Other than that, I got a good grip on it.

Stone has been trying for years to get me to go talk to someone like his mom does but that would just make me feel even crazier.

“If you want, I can oversee a couple of places that Teflon is over.” Stone offered as I shook my head no.

“I’m trying to give the lil nigga more responsibilities. He always bitching about how I let you and Gunna do more and not him. That was strike one though. We got Vegas to worry about. Plus, I need you over some other shit while I get my hands into real estate.”

I really appreciated Stone. He was as solid as they come. No questions asked.

“I see you getting serious about that Meshalay chick.”

I saw a lot of women weekly but for the past year, he’s been on some one-woman shit.

I must say at times, I envied it. We stayed busy on a day-to-day basis.

Stone always made time for his woman though.

A small part of me wished I would’ve handled Nia how he handled his chick.

When it came to leisure time, all of us would get together and pop bottles.

Stone would either call his chick and make her come hang with us or leave and have his alone time with her.

While we were under hoes, he was under his woman.

It made me look at him in a different light.

“Yea I love shorty. She’s a real good female.”

Even when he talked about her, his voice got happy. I laughed and shook my head as my phone rang. It was my nigga Gunna. He always called on FaceTime and the shit annoyed me. I gave the phone to Stone to answer since I was occupied driving. Once he answered, I started talking shit.

“Why you always FaceTiming me like you my bitch or something?”

“Nigga shut the fuck up and pull that G-string outcho ass! Got ya cry baby ass brother calling me like he’s my bitch telling me how he’s done with us!”
